Abstract

The current adolescent environment increasingly offers many choices. Dating styles that open up opportunities for risky sexual behavior seem to be an attractive offer, especially for adolescents who live in boarding houses. Living in boarding houses without direct supervision from parents and boarding house owners makes adolescents free to do anything, including risky sexual behavior with their boyfriends. This makes boarding houses a dangerous environment for adolescents who live there. This study uses a Descriptive Phenomenology Design, which aims to study in depth how adolescents use coping strategies to adapt to the urge to have risky sexual behavior in boarding houses. Six participants were selected using a purposive sampling technique for this study. The analysis in this study used the Colaizzi method. The results of this study yielded four themes, namely: 1) setting boundaries for dating, 2) rejecting pressure, 3) not wanting to fail, and 4) doing activities in their spare time. This study concludes that adolescents who have good coping strategies will be able to adapt to the urge to engage in risky sexual behavior in boarding houses. This study recommends increasing parental and community control and increasing the role of community nurses through adolescent health programs in the community, such as teenage health posts and Adolescent Health Care programs in schools.

Abstract

Adolescents are at high risk for HIV transmission due to exploratory behaviors and risky activities. Early identification of HIV infection is crucial to prevent transmission, as it interrupts the transmission chain through awareness of one's HIV status. This study aimed to explore the implementation of adolescent-centered HIV early detection services in primary care. A qualitative case study design was employed, involving in-depth interviews and document analysis at a public health center in Central Bandung. A purposively selected nurse, with 15 years of experience managing the HIV program, served as the key informant. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using content analysis techniques to identify key themes, categories, and codes. Six themes emerged: (1) VCT service procedures; (2) community health initiatives; (3) collaboration with external institutions; (4) adolescent engagement strategies; (5) barriers to adolescent testing; and (6) factors facilitating testing. Although the VCT protocol was comprehensive and included pre- and post-counseling, fear of a positive diagnosis. While the VCT model at the primary care level is aligned with national HIV prevention strategies, its effectiveness for adolescents is limited by low participation and social resistance. Integrating case-based learning in nursing education, enhancing peer-based outreach, and strengthening adolescent-friendly health services are recommended to improve early HIV detection and care linkage for youth.

Abstract

The determination of service rates in hospitals is often not based on unit cost calculations, but rather on fixed rates used by other hospitals for practicality and ease of implementation. This leads to the problem of differences between INA-CBGs rates and hospital rates in the era of the National Health Insurance (JKN). The study aimed to determine the unit cost of Hemodialysis services using the Activity-Based Costing method, and compare with hospital rates and INA CBGs, and calculate the recovery rate cost. This is a descriptive research study employing a case study approach. This research was conducted to describe the current condition of the hospital costing system, revealing the cost structure and calculation of service unit costs using the Activity-Based Costing method. The Hospital's financial transaction reports of 2023 were used as a data source. Data is grouped based on fixed costs, semi-variable costs, and variable costs, and then translated into direct costs and overhead costs to calculate the unit costs of hemodialysis. The results of the Hemodialysis unit cost calculation were compared with hospital rates and INA CBGs. The cost recovery rate was then calculated. The study results showed that the unit cost of Hemodialysis, calculated using the Activity-Based Costing method, was Rp1,364,257. The comparison result was that the unit cost was higher than the hospital rate (86%) and also than the INA CBGs rate (61%). The results of the cost recovery rate (CRR) calculation are still below 100%. Influencing factors include direct costs, overhead costs, and the number of actions.

Abstract

According to the WHO in 2014, as many as 40% of maternal deaths in developing countries are related to anemia in pregnancy. The prevalence of anemia in Indonesia is 50.9% among pregnant women. In Riau Province, the incidence of anemia among pregnant women is still relatively high at 37.1%. In Kampar Regency, the rate of anemia among pregnant women in 2016 was 16.03%, while in 2017 it rose to 32.59%. This study aims to analyze multivariate factors that cause the incidence of anemia in pregnant women at Rumbio Public Health Center, Kampar Regency. This type of research is quantitative analytic with a cross-sectional design. This study was conducted in March 2023 with a population of 385 pregnant women and a sample size of 78 people. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Bivariate and multivariate data analysis using chi-square statistical tests and logistic regression multivariate analysis. The results of bivariate analysis indicate that nutritional status, parity, and socio-economic variables are not significantly associated with anemia (p value> α 0.05), while the variables adherence to taking Fe tablets and age are significantly associated with anemia (p value < α 0.05). The results of multivariate analysis showed that the variable of adherence to taking Fe tablets was significant to anemia because the p value < 0.05, while the independent variable of age was not significant to anemia because the p value > 0.05. The OR value of adherence to taking Fe tablets is 67, meaning that people who are not adherent are more at risk of developing anemia. In conclusion, the variable of adherence to taking tablets is the variable most associated with the incidence of anemia in pregnant women. It is expected of pregnant women to be obedient and on time in taking Fe tablets to avoid the incidence of anemia in pregnancy.

Abstract

Anemia in pregnancy is still a serious problem in Indonesia, with a prevalence of 48.9%. Iron supplementation is widely considered an important strategy to reduce the incidence. The aim of the study is to analyze the effect of educational videos on the knowledge and compliance of pregnant women with Fe tablet consumption and to compare the impact of knowledge and compliance with the consumption of Fe tablets on pregnant women between the intervention group and the control group. The methods used in this study were quasi-experimental with a nonequivalent control group design. Sampling by the exhaustive sampling technique consisted of 64 respondents, with the intervention group of 32 people and the control group of 32 people. This study was carried out at the Dahlia Health Center and the Pertiwi Health Center in Makassar City for 5 months, with an intervention of 90 tablets or 3 months. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square, Wilcoxon, McNemar, and Mann-Whitney tests. The result shows the intervention group showed a 100.0% increase in knowledge and 59.4% in compliance, while the control group experienced a 90.6% increase in knowledge and 56.2% in compliance. The educational video on the importance of blood supplement tablets during pregnancy effectively increases knowledge and compliance with Fe tablet consumption in pregnant women, so it is hoped that health workers can use educational video media as an alternative method in counseling.

Abstract

Gender-based sexual violence on campus is a serious issue and is a less serious concern. Students tend to lack an understanding of sexual issues caused by the culture on campus that disfavors the victim by the theory of power relations and a feminist perspective. Students’ knowledge and awareness of gender-based sexual violence on campuses need to be improved. This study assesses students’ self-awareness due to health promotion provided through the Interprofessional Education (IPE) approach. A quasi-experiment with a pre-post-test design was conducted to evaluate 144 students through purposive sampling. The questionnaire adapted from the Situational Self-Awareness Scale (SSAS) was utilized to collect the data. There was a significant improvement in self-awareness (p < 0.001 and t-value= 25.68) after receiving IPE among students. Providing health education with an IPE approach is an effective strategy for raising undergraduate students' awareness of gender-based sexual violence on campus. This intervention may help develop the concept of cooperation and collaboration between health professionals to prepare and create standard measures for preventing and addressing cases of gender-based sexual violence on campus.

Abstract

Husbands' knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding (EB) is still low; this causes a lack of support for breastfeeding mothers, which results in low coverage of exclusive breastfeeding. Purpose: to analyze the effect of developing an exclusive breastfeeding education model on increasing husbands' knowledge. The Method of study is a combination of research and development (R&D), Borg and Gall, quasi-experimental, non-equivalent control group design. Population of husbands of pregnant women: sample, husbands of pregnant women who check their pregnancies at the Community Health Center in the third trimester. Purposive sampling of 60 people was divided into two groups; the intervention group received an exclusive breastfeeding education module plus the MCH book, and the control group received the MCH book, with knowledge measurement (pre-test) in the two control groups. Intervention and post-test were carried out once a week for 4 weeks. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon signed-rank test and the Mann-Whitney test. The Results of the study show that there is an effect of giving exclusive breastfeeding education modules on husbands' knowledge, with an overall post-test p-value of 0.000 < 0.05. There was no effect of giving the MCH handbook to the husband's knowledge, p-value 0.391> 0.05. There were differences in knowledge in the two groups, with the mean ranks greater in the intervention group, namely pre-test 32.67 > 28.33, post-test 1 37.35 > 23.65, post-test 2 41.15 > 19.85, and post-test 3 43.78 > 17.22. There is a difference in knowledge between the intervention and control groups. The exclusive breastfeeding education module increases husbands' knowledge about the importance of breastfeeding, especially exclusive breastfeeding. Conclusion: The exclusive breastfeeding education module increases husbands' knowledge about the importance of breastfeeding, especially exclusive breastfeeding, to be used as a health promotion medium in healthcare facilities.

Abstract

Drug abuse remains a persistent global health challenge, with relapse continuing to be a major obstacle in sustaining recovery after rehabilitation. This study examined the association between knowledge, motivation, and family support factors, including emotional, social, and moral support, with relapse among residents at the Community-Based Rehabilitation Institute of the Mitra Husada Foundation in Makassar. A cross-sectional design was applied, involving all 82 rehabilitation residents through total sampling. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed with Chi-Square and logistic regression tests. The results demonstrated significant associations between relapse and knowledge (p < 0.013), motivation (p < 0.0001), emotional support (p <0.004), social support (p = 0.002), and moral support (p < 0.0001). Logistic regression analysis identified motivation as the most influential factor (Wald = 8.026, p < 0.005). The study concludes that strengthening intrinsic motivation and consistent family involvement are essential strategies in relapse prevention. Integrating family-based aftercare programs into rehabilitation services is recommended to ensure sustainable recovery.
