Abstract

This study examines the internal conflict among Hindu transmigrants in Waode Angkalo Village, North Buton, regarding the interpretation of Pura Eka Kahyangan as a communal worship center. While some groups support the single-temple concept in line with PHDI policy, others advocate for the Tri Kahyangan system as an authentic representation of Balinese Hindu tradition. The research aims to analyze the dynamics of temple interpretation conflicts and explore emic-based resolutions emerging from community practices. A qualitative case study was employed, involving in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis, with interactive data analysis through reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. Findings reveal that since 2007 the Hindu community has split into two factions supporters of Eka Kahyangan and Tri Kahyangan which by 2025 have grown to 32 and 97 households respectively. The conflict is driven by the persistence of Balinese traditions (sima), limited contextual understanding, functional dissatisfaction with the single temple, and political interests of local elites. Initially latent, the conflict evolved into a manifest struggle, turning the temple into a contested arena of identity, authority, and cultural legitimacy. Nevertheless, through the internalization of emic values such as ngayah, mutual cooperation, and deliberation, the temple continues to function as a multivocal symbol mediating tensions, sustaining social cohesion, and strengthening community resilience. This study highlights the significance of an emic approach in understanding intra-religious conflicts within transmigrant Hindu communities.

Abstract

The cultivation of character values based on Hindu teachings has a high urgency in addressing the phenomenon of moral crisis among the younger generation, including students. This study aims to analyze the role of Hindu religion teachers in instilling the values of satya (honesty) and ahimsa (non-violence) in elementary school students at Cluster VI, Buleleng District. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed interactively through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that: (1) satya and ahimsa are understood as ethical foundations within the Tri Kaya Parisudha teachings, which are relevant in shaping students’ noble character and empathy; (2) the role of Hindu religion teachers includes being role models and motivators, facilitators and mentors, as well as innovators who integrate these values into various school activities; (3) the implications observed are the improvement of honesty, discipline, and social awareness, along with the decrease of deviant behaviors such as bullying and disorderliness among students. This study affirms the importance of Hindu religion teachers as facilitators of values and agents of character formation. The success of instilling satya and ahimsa requires systemic, collaborative, and contextual support among schools, families, and communities.

Abstract

The taḥżīr verses in the Quran are moral-spiritual warnings addressed to humans to avoid reprehensible behavior and its negative impacts. However, in the context of modern education, these warnings have not been fully internalized by students, so that moral degradation, such as intolerance, hedonistic behavior, and weak academic ethics, is still often found. This study aims to analyze the interpretation of the taḥżīr verses in Ibn ʻĀsyūr's al-Taḥrīr wa al-Tanwīr and explore their relevance for the formation of student character. The research method employs a qualitative approach, utilizing a literature study model, where primary data are derived from Ibn ʻĀsyūr's Tafsir, and secondary data are sourced from thematic tafsir literature, character education, and contemporary studies on student ethics. The results of the study indicate that the taḥżīr verses, according to Ibn ʻĀsyūr, are not only textual prohibitions, but also contain pedagogical dimensions that emphasize aspects of rationality, moral awareness, and social responsibility. The novelty of this study lies in its contribution to the thematic exegesis, specifically by highlighting the function of the taḥżīr verses not only as normative warnings but also as applicable moral education instruments for the younger generation. By interpreting taḥżīr as a preventive tool that forms spiritual, social, and intellectual vigilance, this study broadens the understanding that tafsir does not merely explain the meaning of verses but also offers a conceptual framework for strengthening character education. Its relevance is seen in the integration of the values ​​of honesty, discipline, responsibility, critical thinking, and social concern in educational practices, so that this study makes a real contribution in addressing the moral crisis of the younger generation while enriching the perspective of tafsir as a foundation for Islamic character education that is adaptive to the challenges of the times.

Abstract

Brexit, the United Kingdom’s decision to leave the European Union following the 2016 referendum, represents one of the most impactful political events in contemporary European history. This article aims to contribute theoretically by expanding the application of constructivism in the study of international relations, while also offering practical insights into how crisis discourse can be utilized to shape public opinion and direct national policy. Using Alexander Wendt’s constructivist approach and the method of Critical Discourse Analysis, this study demonstrates how political actors such as Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage reconstructed the meaning of the UK’s EU membership as a threat to national sovereignty. Through emotional rhetoric such as “take back control” and media support that amplified fears about immigration and foreign interference, the crisis was positioned as an existential struggle over identity and national independence. The analysis confirms that political reality is not solely determined by material structures but is shaped by socially constructed meanings through interaction, language, and identity.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Quantum Teaching learning model on students' self-confidence in Islamic Religious Education subjects. The method used is quantitative with a quasi-experimental approach and a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. The research sample consisted of two classes, namely the experimental class that was treated with the Quantum Teaching model and the control class that used conventional learning, each consisting of 32 students. The research instrument used was a Likert scale questionnaire to measure the students' level of self-confidence. The results of the descriptive analysis show that the average self-confidence score of students in the experimental class increased from 42.00 to 60.09, while in the control class it only increased from 41.94 to 45.94. The normality test indicated that the data was not normally distributed, thus the analysis continued with non-parametric tests. The results of the Wilcoxon test showed a significant increase in each group. Meanwhile, the Mann-Whitney test showed a very significant difference between the experimental and control classes with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). A significant difference was found between student learning outcomes in the experimental and control classes. This indicates that the Quantum Teaching approach has a positive and significant impact on improving student learning outcomes compared to conventional learning methods. These findings indicate that the Quantum Teaching model is not only effective in improving cognitive understanding but also significantly increases student self-confidence. The interactive and enjoyable learning environment makes students feel valued, more active, and more confident in their abilities. Therefore, this model is recommended as an innovative and enjoyable learning alternative, particularly in teaching Islamic Religious Education.

Abstract

In this research, the problem studied is the formation of students' attitude of religious tolerance through the learning of Islamic Religious Education in vocational schools.  Religious diversity in vocational schools is a challenge for students in their daily activities, this requires PAI teachers to provide explanations and train students to be tolerant in order to respond wisely to religious diversity. The researcher sought to find the elements that inhibit tolerance, as well as their impact on student behavior. Problems that contribute to students' limited understanding, the impact of social media, inconsistent teaching examples, and inadequate time. It is important for every student to have an attitude of tolerance so that there are no divisions, conflicts that trigger commotions, condescending attitudes between others, avoiding bullying because this attitude is very bad in its impact on mental health and lowering someone's confidence.  Through the subject of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at SMK Negeri 4 Palangka Raya, it is hoped that students will have a good attitude of religious tolerance where they help each other, blend in with each other, cooperate, and respect the beliefs of others who are of different religions, and can live in harmony and side by side. The methodology used is a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study research design. Data for this study were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research participants were three Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers and six students, in addition to the documentation study. The data obtained is then analyzed through the process of data reduction, presentation, and verification. The process of forming tolerance is carried out through targeted PAI learning planning, the application of discussion methods, and the example of teachers in instilling mutual respect between religious communities. After that, this study details the factors that influence the process, including the influence of educators, inclusive education policies, interfaith initiatives, and family and community support. As a result, students show increased appreciation for differences, avoid discrimination, and be more sensitive to diversity. This research shows that Islamic Religious Education (PAI) makes a significant contribution to increasing religious tolerance, depending on cooperation between teachers, schools, families, and communities.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the practice of religious moderation and the construction of identity among Hindu and Muslim communities in the sacred sites of Makam Medana and Pura Medana, North Lombok. The research focuses on socio-religious dynamics, moderation practices, and the formation of collective identity within a multireligious context. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, consisting of data reduction, presentation, and verification. The findings reveal that the Medana community has successfully maintained interreligious harmony through customary mechanisms such as sangkep (traditional council meetings), the active roles of religious leaders, and joint participation in social activities. The construction of local identity is reflected in the shared respect for sacred sites—Makam Medana for Muslims and Pura Medana for Hindus—which serve as symbols of pluralism and cultural integration. Values of tolerance, cooperation, and respect for local traditions underpin social cohesion amid potential differences. Theoretically, this research contributes to the development of religious moderation studies grounded in local culture, while practically offering insights for strengthening social harmony through local wisdom–based approaches.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of collaborative media between Islamic Education (PAI) teachers and parents in shaping students’ multicultural attitudes at SMP Muhammadiyah 48 Medan. The study is based on the importance of multicultural education in fostering tolerance, appreciation of diversity, and mutual respect among students. The research employed a qualitative case study design. Data were collected through observations, interviews with PAI teachers, students, and parents, questionnaires, and documentation, and were validated using source triangulation. Data analysis was conducted descriptively to illustrate the role of collaborative media in developing students’ multicultural attitudes. The results show that media such as class WhatsApp groups, regular teacher-parent meetings, and active communication are effective in enhancing interaction and students’ understanding. Supporting factors include school principal support, parents’ readiness, and ease of communication, while constraints involve limited time and technical obstacles. This synergy effectively increases students’ awareness of tolerance, appreciation of cultural and religious diversity, and social skills that promote mutual respect. In conclusion, consistent collaboration between PAI teachers and parents through communication media plays a crucial role in shaping students’ multicultural attitudes. Support from all stakeholders and the effective use of media are key to the success of multicultural education in schools.

Abstract

This research is based on the background of students' suboptimal ability to read the Qur'an and their inadequate understanding of the rules of tajweed. This study aims to describe the implementation of peer tutoring methods and identify the factors that support and inhibit them. Using a descriptive qualitative methodology, data was collected systematically through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that the implementation of the peer tutor method includes a sequence of three phases of planning, implementation and evaluation. The supporting factors obtained in this study include, high motivation from tutors and tutees, qualified tutors' ability to read and teach the Qur'an, as well as tutors' confidence that is able to foster the spirit of learning tutee, adequate learning facilities, conducive learning atmosphere, close relationship between tutors and tutees, effective small group divisions, variety of interesting learning methods, as well as praise and appreciation from teachers and tutors. The inhibiting factors include, lack of commitment and consistency among some tutors, limited guidance time, and lack of seriousness in learning due to too relaxed relationships. Broadly speaking, the peer tutor method shows good results in creating a collaborative and supportive learning atmosphere in overcoming students' difficulties in reading the Qur'an.

Abstract

This paper will discuss the text of a puppet play entitled Kasantikaning Raga. The text that contains a narrative about the character Gathotkaca has elements such as text, narrative structure, illustrations, and ideology. Because the text comes from the popular tradition of the Yogyakarta puppetry region, the idiom of Yogyakarta-style puppetry language is very strong. The text can also be used as a guideline in shadow puppet performances. The illustrations show the visual richness of the puppeteer's creativity as a poet, composer, and creator of visual images of wayang. The literary aspect is shown in the narrative text. The text, which dates back to the early 20th century, shows a pattern of transfer from textual to visual, textual to performance and vice versa. To see these various layers of elements, a study of text, image and discourse is needed to achieve the expected results. Reflecting on the material object in the form of the play of the appearance of the wanda figure of Gathotkaca, an ideology related to the conquest of celestial phenomena is also found to be utilized as a means of achieving fertility in the area where the text production is located.
