Abstract

The application of Postpartum Family Planning is very important because the return of fertility to the mother after giving birth is unpredictable and can occur before the arrival of the menstrual cycle even in breastfeeding women. However, the KBPP coverage figures in Indonesia are still not satisfactory. Based on data from the 2019 Indonesia Health Profile, the coverage of KBPP in Indonesia has only reached 35.1%, while the coverage of using KBPP in West Sulawesi Province only reached 20%. The decision to use postpartum family planning for postpartum mothers is influenced by several factors, including the characteristics of the mother (education level, economic status, distance from home to health facilities) and husband's support. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between mother's characteristics and husband's support for the use of postpartum family planning in Mamuju Regency. The method used is a quantitative method with a cross sectional approach. Sampling used a purposive sampling technique according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The sample used was 400 postpartum mothers in Mamuju Regency. The dependent variable is the use of KBPP and the independent variable is the characteristics of the mother and husband's support. The type of data analysis used was the contingency coefficient C test. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between economic level, distance from home to health facilities and husband's support for the decision to use postpartum family planning (p <0.05). Conclusion: there is a statistically significant relationship between the characteristics of the mother which includes economic status, distance to health facilities and husband's support for the use of Postpartum Family Planning in Mamuju District

Abstract

The prevalence of diarrhea increased by 3% in South Kualuh Regency between 2019 and 2021. The hamlet of Gunting Saga Village, which serves as a study location, depends on the Kualuh River for their everyday requirements. The purpose of this study is to ascertain the correlation between the clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS) in household settings with the incidence of diarrhea in Gunting Saga Village. This quantitative study used analytical descriptive method with Cross-sectional design which was carried out in Gunting Saga Village, North Labuhan Batu District, North Sumatra Province in July 2022. A total of 57 housewives (IRT) were obtained with an age range of 23-66 years and an average high school education. Respondents were taken by snowball sampling technique using questionnaires that had been tested for validity (r-count>0.279[n=50]) and reliability (0.898>0.60). Data analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis, with IBM SPSS data processing software. The results showed that housewives in Gunting Saga Village had a good PHBS category in household settings (59.6%), only 36.8% of households experienced diarrhea. The highest PHBS category come from housewives aged 45-55 years old with Diploma (D3) education. While the lowest PHBS category comes from housewives aged 23-33 years old with non-school education. There was a significant association between PHBS in households with the incidence of diarrhea (p = 0.001 p < 0.05]) and educational characteristics of housewives (p = 0.001 p < 0.05]) and there was no significant association between housewives age and PHBS in households (p = 0.700 [p>0.05]). Puskesmas Gunting Saga can collaborate with the local community to form household-based PHBS posyandu cadres and conduct counseling consistently so that the incidence of diarrhea in Gunting Saga can be suppressed.

Abstract

Periodically, a woman's reproductive function will experience significant changes with age. Various complaints are experienced at this time ranging from mild to severe somatic complaints and even an increase in Body Mass Index (BMI). This study aims to identify increases in weight, blood pressure, menopausal complaints and complaint control behaviors experienced during menopause in 70 menopausal women in DIY in 2020. It was found that as many as 65.7% of women had menopause in the age group of 53-55 years, the highest level of education (72.8%) in the low category (elementary, junior high), working mothers (84.3%), the age of marriage was ≤ 20 years (81.4%) and had children > 2 people (72.9%). It was found that as many as 28 people (40%) had BMI in the fat and obesity categories, 42 people (60%) had blood pressure in the prehypertensive to hypertensive categories, had the heaviest menopausal complaints in complaints of discomfort in the joints and muscles (pain in the joints, rheumatic complaints) and behavior towards efforts to control menopausal complaints in the form of frequency and regular eating patterns until physical activity was considered still low. Ongoing health education efforts are needed for women in rural areas related to the impact of menopause and efforts to prevent complaints and weight gain experienced after menopause.

Abstract

Background: Schizophrenia is a mental disorder with a very high prevalence in Indonesia, which is around 7 million per 1000 population (Riskedas, 2018). Schizophrenia can cause sufferers to behave aggressively, which can cause injury to the patient himself or other people, including nurses. If the client's aggressive behavior increases, the actions that can be applied are crisis management and restraint strategies. Objective: to determine the effect of restraint management on the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of nurses at RSKD DADI, South Sulawesi Province. Method: The type of research used is a quasi-experiment. The sample was divided into two groups: intervention and control groups. This research was conducted in November 2022. The population for this study were nurses at RSKD DADI South Sulawesi Province; the sample was determined by consecutive sampling, namely 20 people in the intervention group and 20 people in the control group, so the total sample was 40 people. Results: There is a significant difference in the mean knowledge of nurses regarding restraint management between the control group (M=7.75, SD=1.585) and the intervention group (M=10.05, SD=3.170) with a t-test value of 3.359, and a p-value of <0.003. There is a significant difference in the mean skills of nurses between the control group (M=29.85, SD=3.92) and the intervention group (M=34.25, SD=1.743) with a t-test value of 5.646 and a p-value of <0.000. There is a significant difference in the attitudes of nurses between the control group (M=21.35, SD=4.107) and the intervention group (M=24.70, SD=5.611) with a t-test value of 2.258, and a p-value of <0.036. Conclusion: The research findings showed a significant increase in the mean scores of knowledge, attitude, and skills after participating in the restraint training.

Abstract

Blood is a body fluid whose stability can be influenced by both internal and external factors such as storage period. Storing blood specimens for a long time can cause changes in the physiological condition of blood cells such as color, size, shape and cell formation. This study aims to determine the effect of the storage period for donor blood specimens at UTD RSUP dr. Kariadi Semarang on hemoglobin levels and erythrocyte morphology. The research design is an experiment using a modified Time Series design with a pre and posttest control group design. The samples in this study were CPDA-1 (Citrate Phosphate Dextrose Adenine) donor blood specimens at the Blood Transfusion Unit of RSUP dr. Kariadi Semarang. Observation of erythrocyte cell morphology using blood smear preparations (SHD). Primary data was taken from the results of measurements of hemoglobin levels and observations of erythrocyte cell morphology with blood specimens examined directly (day 0) and storage days 1, 2, and 3. Analysis of research data used the One-way Anova statistical test. The results of the One-Way Anova test showed that there was a significant difference in hemoglobin levels on the 3rd day of donor blood storage (p-value 0.000). The results of the evaluation of erythrocyte cell morphology showed that there were abnormalities in crenation morphology on the 3rd day of storage. Blood specimens should be processed immediately after they leave the body because the condition of the blood cells is still stable and optimal for use in laboratory tests.

Abstract

Excessive fat in the body can cause the risk of obesity. To determine the condition of body fat, a simple measurement is using the Body Mass Index (BMI). The bigger the body mass, the bigger the volume of blood needed to supply oxygen and food to the tissues of body, thereby increasing blood pressure. Blood pressure is the force exerted by the walls of the arteries by pumping blood away from the heart. Increased blood pressure is also caused by age because entering old age will have a decrease in the cardiovascular system which causes increasing blood pressure. Observational analysis was with cross sectional design. The research sample was taken using a total sampling technique with number of samples 70 people. The research instrument used a digital scale, microtoise staturemeter and aneroid sphygmomanometer. Data analysis used univariate analysis and bivariate analysis, namely the Spearman correlation test. Spearman Rank correlation test showed that there was a significant relation between BMI and blood pressure in the elderly (r = 0.788, p = 0.000). There is a significant relationship between BMI and blood pressure where the increase in BMI is in line with the increase in blood pressure in the elderly.
