The journal AL-ULUM (Islamic thought and Educational Journal) published an article on the theme of education, using the language of Indonesia or the United Kingdom that includes the study of literature, conceptual thinking and research results in the field of education. These journals give priority to studies related to Islamic thought and education from different perspectives. This journal serves as a means and medium of communication that is used by researchers, lecturers, teachers, students, and practitioners to examine education and Islamic thought. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji implementasi moderasi beragama dan berbangsa di Indonesia menurut pemikiran KH. Ahmad Dahlan, pendiri Muhammadiyah, yang dikenal sebagai tokoh reformis Islam di Indonesia. Dalam konteks Indonesia yang plural, pemikiran beliau tentang moderasi beragama (wasathiyah) dan kebangsaan sangat relevan untuk membangun masyarakat yang harmonis dan inklusif. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi pustaka untuk menganalisis berbagai karya, tulisan, serta sejarah perjuangan KH. Ahmad Dahlan dalam membangun umat Islam yang berwawasan global dan toleran. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa KH. Ahmad Dahlan menekankan pentingnya moderasi dalam beragama yang menghindari ekstremisme dan kekerasan, serta mendorong umat Islam untuk memahami ajaran agama secara rasional dan kontekstual. Selain itu, beliau mengajarkan pentingnya penghormatan terhadap pluralitas agama dan kebhinnekaan di Indonesia, serta prinsip kerjasama sosial dan politik untuk memperkuat persatuan bangsa. Pemikiran beliau terkait moderasi beragama dan kebangsaan sangat relevan dalam menghadapi tantangan sosial-politik di Indonesia saat ini, seperti radikalisasi agama, intoleransi, dan polarisasi sosial. Implikasi penelitian ini adalah Penelitian ini memperkaya kajian tentang moderasi beragama dalam konteks pemikiran KH. Ahmad Dahlan, yang menekankan keseimbangan antara keislaman dan kebangsaan. Kemudian Menambah referensi bagi akademisi dalam memahami konsep Islam Wasathiyah yang diterapkan oleh KH. Ahmad Dahlan dalam berbagai aspek kehidupan.

Abstract

This article discusses the concept of a new path of religious moderation developed by Haedar Nashir, a contemporary Muslim thinker. Haedar Nashir emphasized that religious moderation must be based on the universal values of Islam that are inclusive, humanist, and adaptive to the changing times. This concept is designed to answer the challenges of radicalism, intolerance, and secularism which are often obstacles in creating social harmony. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method, referring to the works of Haedar Nashir and a literature review related to religious moderation. The results of the study show that religious moderation according to Haedar Nashir not only serves as a theological strategy, but also as a practical approach to build a harmonious and productive religious life. This concept involves three main pillars: the strengthening of Islamic values that are rahmatan lil 'alamin, the integration of local culture with Islamic values, and the active participation of the ummah in building civilization. With this approach, religious moderation can be an effective solution in creating a peaceful, inclusive, and just social order. The implication of this research is to enrich the study of religious moderation from the perspective of Haedar Nashir, who emphasizes the importance of making moderation a state of mind for the Indonesian nation. Then add references for academics in understanding the concept of Wasathiyah Islam applied in religious and national life.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran pendidikan Islam dalam mewujudkan moderasi beragama di kalangan siswa sekolah dasar. Dalam konteks global yang semakin plural, moderasi beragama menjadi penting untuk diajarkan sejak usia dini agar generasi muda memiliki pemahaman yang seimbang, toleran, dan tidak terjebak dalam sikap ekstremis. Pendidikan agama Islam di SDIT Insan Kamil 2 dianggap sebagai sarana efektif dalam menanamkan nilai-nilai moderasi beragama, yang mencakup sikap terbuka, toleransi, dan penghargaan terhadap perbedaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus di SDIT Insan Kamil 2. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dengan guru, observasi pembelajaran, serta analisis dokumen kurikulum dan program kegiatan ekstrakurikuler yang berhubungan dengan moderasi beragama. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendidikan agama Islam memiliki peran yang signifikan dalam membentuk sikap moderat pada siswa. Pembelajaran agama Islam yang dilakukan tidak hanya berfokus pada pemahaman teks-teks agama, tetapi juga pada penanaman nilai-nilai toleransi, dialog antaragama, dan penghindaran sikap intoleransi serta kekerasan. Pendidikan agama Islam juga mencakup kegiatan praktis, seperti dialog lintas agama, pembelajaran tentang sejarah Islam yang mengajarkan keberagaman, serta proyek sosial yang memperkenalkan siswa pada berbagai lapisan masyarakat. Dengan demikian, sekolah ini berhasil menanamkan prinsip-prinsip moderasi beragama melalui pendekatan yang kontekstual dan berbasis nilai-nilai keislaman yang rahmatan lil-‘alamin.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the tradition of Dinah Begus in the construction of houses in Ponteh Village, Galis, Pamekasan, and analyze it from an Islamic perspective. Dinah Begus is a local tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation, where people choose a good day as the right time to start important activities, such as building a house. This belief is based on the hope of blessings, safety, and smoothness in the development process and life in the future. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies to understand the practices, symbols, and meanings contained in the tradition. The results of the study show that Dinah Begus contains noble values such as prudence, spirituality, and respect for ancestral traditions. From an Islamic perspective, this practice is not contradictory as long as it is not accompanied by shirk beliefs, but is understood as a form of effort in determining the time that is considered most appropriate based on people's experiences and habits. This research is expected to contribute to the preservation of local culture that is in harmony with Islamic values, as well as enrich the study of the interaction between religion and tradition in Madurese society.

Abstract

Job analysis is a fundamental aspect in the recruitment and development process of teaching staff in Islamic educational institutions. This study aims to identify and analyze effective strategies in the application of job analysis to improve the quality of teacher recruitment and professional development. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The data was collected through in-depth interviews with principals and teachers at one of the private Islamic schools who have implemented the practice of job analysis systematically. The results of the study show that work analysis carried out in a structured manner is able to provide detailed information about the duties, responsibilities, and competencies required of a teacher. The findings also revealed that clear job descriptions simplify the selection process for prospective teachers and become an important basis for the preparation of training programs and sustainable teacher career development. The conclusion of this study confirms that an integrated job analysis strategy in the human resource management of Islamic education can increase the effectiveness of the recruitment process as well as the quality of teacher development. The practical implications of these findings suggest that Islamic educational institutions need to develop a systematic, institutional needs-based work analysis system as an integral part of educational strategic planning.

Abstract

The moral crisis characterized by value relativism and secularism demands the contribution of religious ethics that is transcendental and adaptive. This study aims to explore the ethical structure of Al-Ghazali in Kimiyaus Sa'adah and assess its relevance in responding to contemporary ethical challenges. This study uses a qualitative approach based on literature studies, with textual and hermeneutical analysis of Al-Ghazali's primary works and relevant secondary literature. The results of the study show that Al-Ghazali's ethics are based on revelation as the main source of morality, but still provide space for rationality within the framework of tafakkur and moral introspection. There is a harmonious integration between tazkiyah al-nafs, morality, and love for God, which is directed at ukhrawi happiness. This ethical system emphasizes not only formal obedience to divine law, but also inner transfiguration through the control of the passions and the actualization of the angelic nature in man. In conclusion, Al-Ghazali's ethics offers a theocentric, spiritual, and rational model of Islamic ethics, which remains relevant to be applied contextually in pluralistic and secular societies. This study opens up opportunities for the development of Islamic public ethics based on revelation that is dialogical and inclusive, as well as encouraging further research in the realms of bioethics, social justice, and ecotheology.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a website-based digital learning media called Toseurba (Tolerance for Religious Unity), which is designed to increase the insight and understanding of grade IV elementary school students regarding the values of tolerance between religions through the subject of PAI. The research method used is Design and Development (D&D) with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) development model. The research subjects consisted of 41 grade IV students at SDN Cimalaka III. Validation of the product was carried out by media experts and subject matter experts through a Likert scale questionnaire, with results showing that the product feasibility level in the category was very high, with an average score of 97.95%. The implementation of the product in the learning process showed a significant increase in students' understanding of tolerance material, where 36 out of 41 students managed to achieve the (KKM) in the post-test evaluation. Additionally, student responses to the Toseurba website have been overwhelmingly positive, with an average percentage of 99.2% stating that the medium is engaging, easy to understand, and enjoyable. The implications of this study show that the integration of digital technology in PAI learning not only increases the effectiveness of material delivery, but also contributes to the formation of students' character, especially in instilling the value of tolerance from an early age. Therefore, the development of similar digital media needs to be considered by educators and policymakers as an innovative strategy in multicultural-based character education in elementary schools.

Abstract

The phenomenon of human creation is an interesting topic to study from the perspective of religion and science. The Qur'an, contains an explicit description of the stages of fetal formation, starting from the essence of the earth, nutfah (semen), 'alaqah (a clot of blood/sticking), mudghah, the formation of bones, to the wrapping of bones with flesh and finally becoming a perfect living being. The purpose of this research is to analyze the process of fetal formation in an integrative manner through the interpretation approach and contemporary embryology science. This study uses the literature review method by examining various classical and modern textbooks, and comparing the results with scientific studies represented by embryologists such as Keith L. Moore. The results of the study show that there is a significant alignment between the sequence of fetal development according to the Qur'an and modern scientific findings. This study concludes that the integration between revelation and science not only shows the relevance of the Qur'an in the context of contemporary science, but also strengthens the understanding of the concept of i'jaz 'ilmi (scientific miracles), as well as opens up a space for constructive dialogue between science and Islamic teachings. The implication of this research is the importance of encouraging an integrative approach in Islamic education, especially in teaching kauniyah verses related to science. These findings can also be the basis for the development of a curriculum based on the integration of religion and science that is able to strengthen faith while improving students' scientific literacy.

Abstract

Globalisasi telah membawa perubahan besar dalam berbagai aspek kehidupan, termasuk dalam bidang pendidikan. Madrasah sebagai lembaga pendidikan Islam dituntut untuk melakukan revitalisasi kurikulum agar tetap relevan dan kompetitif dalam menjawab kebutuhan zaman. Kurikulum yang tidak hanya menanamkan nilai-nilai keislaman, tetapi juga mengembangkan kompetensi global, menjadi kebutuhan mendesak dalam membentuk generasi yang beriman, berilmu, dan mampu bersaing di era digital. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peluang dan tantangan dalam proses revitalisasi kurikulum madrasah guna meningkatkan daya saing lulusan di tengah dinamika global. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Data diperoleh melalui studi literatur dan dokumentasi yang relevan, kemudian dianalisis secara tematik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa revitalisasi kurikulum membuka peluang strategis dalam penguatan pendidikan karakter, integrasi literasi digital, dan kolaborasi multipihak. Namun demikian, sejumlah tantangan juga muncul, seperti resistensi terhadap perubahan, keterbatasan infrastruktur teknologi, dan dilema antara nilai lokal dan tuntutan global (glokalisasi). Implikasi penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya penyusunan kebijakan kurikulum yang partisipatif dan kontekstual, melibatkan seluruh pemangku kepentingan—mulai dari pemerintah, pengelola madrasah, guru, hingga masyarakat. Diperlukan strategi sinergis agar revitalisasi kurikulum tidak hanya menjadi dokumen administratif, tetapi mampu mengaktualisasikan visi pendidikan Islam yang unggul, adaptif, dan berdaya saing global

Abstract

The development of the digital era and globalization has a significant impact on children's lives, including in moral, social, and spiritual aspects. The rise of unfiltered digital content, identity crises, and permissive culture are serious challenges in the formation of noble morals of the younger generation. In this context, character education is an urgent need that must be systematically integrated into the education system and children's daily lives. The formulation of the problem in this study is how the urgency and relevance of character education in shaping children's morals in the midst of the rapid flow of globalization and digitalization. This research aims to analyze the concept, urgency, and implementation of character education in the contemporary context. The approach used is qualitative with the library research method, which examines classical and contemporary literature on character values and implementation strategies. The results of the study show that character education has a central role in instilling values such as honesty, responsibility, empathy, discipline, tolerance, and religiosity. These values serve as a moral foundation that strengthens children's resilience in the face of various negative influences. Character education must be carried out consistently and continuously in the family, school, and community environment. The implications of this study confirm that character education is a crucial long-term investment in shaping a generation that is not only intellectually intelligent, but also morally strong and ready to face global challenges without losing identity.
