Abstract

Creative thinking ability is a high-level ability that is being developed at this time. One of the important factors that are in line with creative thinking in achieving learning objectives is scientific attitude. This research on creative thinking skills studied from a scientific attitude was carried out in order to determine the extent of students' creative thinking abilities and become a benchmark for educators to continue to improve creative thinking skills. The type of research conducted is descriptive qualitative research. Subjects were taken using purposive sampling covering six fourth grade students of Muhammadiyah 2 Pontianak Elementary School. The research was conducted by means of observation, tests, questionnaires, interviews and documentation. Based on the results of data analysis from the subjects studied, it can be concluded that students' creative thinking abilities are in the moderate category with an average of 6.2 or 52% followed by a fairly good scientific attitude, namely 29 or 60%, students with high creative thinking skills tend to have a very good scientific attitude, Students with moderate creative thinking skills tend to have a good scientific attitude, and students with low creative thinking skills tend to have a poor scientific attitude.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the profile of students' mathematical problem solving abilities in the high category in terms of learning motivation and numeracy abilities. This type of research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were class IX students of SMP PUI YATSHI in the odd semester of the 2022/2023 academic year. The subjects of this study were determined by purposive sampling by selecting one student from each category of mathematical problem solving ability test results consisting of high, medium, and low ability categories. based on students who have learning motivation and high, medium, and low numeracy abilities. However, what will be explained in this study is only subjects with high problem-solving abilities based on learning motivation and high numeracy abilities. Data collection techniques used were mathematical problem solving ability test instruments, students' numeracy ability test instruments, interviews, and data triangulation. Data analysis techniques in this study are data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The results of this study are to describe the profile of students' mathematical problem-solving abilities in the high category in terms of learning motivation and numeracy abilities, namely students' mathematical problem-solving abilities in the high category with high learning motivation and students' numeracy abilities, so the subject is able to: (1) understand the problem, namely being able to determine what is known and asked from the problem; (2) make a problem solving strategy plan, namely being able to determine the formula or solution model used in solving the problem; (3) carrying out a strategic problem solving plan, namely being able to perform calculations from formulas that have been used correctly and correctly; (4) re-examining the results obtained, namely being able to determine the final conclusion and write the final answer correctly.

Abstract

The purposes of study to describe and analyze: (1) the effect of Discovery Learning strategy of Numbered Heads Together (NHT) and Teams Games Tournament (TGT) direct learning in mathematics learning outcomes, (2) the effectsof prior knowledge direct learning in mathematics learning outcomes, (3) interaction Discovery Learning strategy of Numbered Heads Together (NHT) and Teams Games Tournament (TGT) in terms of prior knowledge direct learning in mathematics learning outcomes. The research was conducted students of VII Grade of SMP N 4 Mojosongo, Boyolali with the population all students of VII a number of 144 students, 2 classes were taken as samples, each consisting of 24 students. Type of the research is experiment with quasi experimental design. Methods of data collection use documentation and test. Data analyzed by analysis of variance with two different cell lines. The results of data analysis with a significance level of 5% was obtained: (1) there is effect Discovery Learning strategy of Numbered Heads Together (NHT) and Teams Games Tournament (TGT) direct learning in mathematics learning outcomes, (2) there is effects prior knowledge direct learning in mathematics learning outcomes, (3) there is no interaction Discovery Learning strategy of Numbered Heads Together (NHT) and Teams Games Tournament (TGT) in terms of prior knowledge direct learning in mathematics learning outcomes

Abstract

The study aims to which is a quantitative descriptive research, is to examine the ability of junior high school students to represent mathematical concepts comparatively, based on their gender. The participants were students in 7th grade at Cimindi Advent Middle School during the 2023/2024 academic year, with a total of 20 female and 19 male students. The research utilized a test to evaluate the mathematical representation abilities of the students. The collected data was analyzed by using techniques as data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings of the study revealed that the average mathematical representation ability score of the female students was 45.42%, while the average score of male students was 34.06%. Female and male students can represent mathematically on the subject of comparison in the low category. But when viewed from gender, three female students are in high sort with average of 76.85%. In medium category, there are two people with average of 66.67%, and in low class, there are 15 people with an average – average 36.30%. There is one male student with a high ability with average of 75%. In the medium category, there are three people with average of 61.11%, and in the low sort, there are 15 people with an average of 25.93%. While the overall results for KRM were based on indicators of female visual representation 42.5% and male visual representations 31.6%, while the overall results for KRM were based on hands of representation of female mathematical equations/expressions 39% and representation of male mathematical equations/expressions 39.5%, and the overall result for KRM based on indicators of representation of written words/texts for women is 46.7% and model for words/written texts for men is 25.9%. Based on the overall results of female and male students for KRM based on indicators, there is no difference in the low category.

Abstract

Cognitive flexibility in learning mathematics is necessary to solve problems with various mathematical ideas. In completing assignments, students have different perspectives so as to bring up creative solutions that encourage problem-solving skills. This study aims to determine students' cognitive flexibility level in high school mathematics learning. This quantitative descriptive research aims to describe the contents of a variable in research, without being intended to test a particular hypothesis. The source of data used in this study was class XI students in Pontianak City totaling 173 people. Data is collected by questionnaire with data analysis calculating the percentage index results of questionnaire answers. Based on the results of the questionnaire categorizing the level of cognitive flexibility ability of students in learning mathematics, it was found that there were 39 students with the category "very high" cognitive abilities, 115 students in the "high" category, and 19 students in the "moderate" category. This shows that most high school students in Pontianak City on average have high cognitive flexibility abilities in mathematics learning. This data is supported by the statements of mathematics teachers who describe the ability of students to achieve cognitive flexibility, of course, with maximum effort in teaching. From a teaching point of view, mathematics teachers have certainly considered more innovative teaching techniques in order to grow these abilities.

Abstract

Based on the results of observations made and supported by previous research, it can be seen that the problem-solving ability of students still tends to be low. It can be seen that when students are presented with problem-solving problems, students are resistant and in the end unable to do the problem. Even though mathematical problem solving problems can support students' problem-solving abilities. Problem-solving skills are important as basic mathematical competencies and as provisions for everyday life. The purpose of writing this paper is to analyze the application of the PBL model in developing students' problem-solving skills in mathematics learning in a hybrid context. The subject of this study was a grade VII student at a private school in Bogor. The study used descriptive qualitative methods. The instruments used in this study include learning observation sheets, problem-solving tests, student observation sheets, and teaching reflections. The data obtained from the instrument is then processed in a simple descriptive manner, and the results are analyzed qualitatively. The results showed that the application of the PBL model was able to develop the problem-solving ability of grade VII students in mathematics learning. The PBL model is able to equip students to face the challenges of daily life by developing problem-solving skills. Therefore, the suggestion presented to the next researcher is to increase the number of meetings in applying the PBL model to gain a better conceptual understanding for students. Meanwhile, the advice addressed to teachers is to vary the problem solving, one of which is by giving group projects.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the development of interpretations to strengthen mathematical thinking in comparative material, using worksheets developed for class VII students of SMP Negeri 1 Embaloh Hilir. This study uses a 4D model which consists of 4 stages, namely definition, design, development and dissemination. Students in class VII SMP Negeri 1 Embaloh Hilir are the research subjects. The research results were obtained from each stage of the implementation of development activities using the 4D model with the instrument questions in the LKPD and interviews. The results of research on class VII students of SMP Negeri 1 Embaloh Hilir show that the development of interpretation through LKPD is feasible and can improve mathematical thinking skills. This is shown from the results of the LKPD work which obtained an average of 71.87. Students use interpretation abilities when working on questions in LKPD so that students' mathematical thinking indicators become good.

Abstract

This study aims to develop LKS based on a contextual approach that meets the criteria of valid, practical, and effective in improving students' mathematical communication skills in class VII junior high school statistics material. The validity analysis is based on data from the LKS validation results by validators, the practicality analysis is based on data from student and teacher response questionnaires and observations of learning implementation, and the effectiveness analysis is based on data from student mathematical communication ability test results. The LKS development model refers to the 4-D model (Four D Model) which is modified without using the Desseminate stage into a 3-D model (Three D Model) namely Define, Design, and Develop and using the One Group Pre-test Post-test Design research design. The research subjects were VII grade students of SMP Torsina II Singkawang, namely 1 experimental class totaling 34 students. The results of the research obtained are 1) The results of the LKS validation by the validator show an average score of 4.17 with good criteria, which means that the LKS meets the valid criteria. 2) The results of the student response questionnaire show an average percentage of 94% with very good criteria, the results of the teacher response questionnaire show an average percentage of 88% with very good criteria, and the observation of learning implementation shows an average percentage of 96% with very good criteria, which means that the LKS meets practical criteria. 3) The results of the mathematical communication ability test showed that the students who reached the 70 KKM score individually were 29 students out of 34 students and the proportion of students reaching the KKM classically was 75%, which means that the LKS meets the effective criteria.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the achievement of students in aquaculture technology study program (TBP) for geometry and measurement subject through Indonesian Realistic mathematics Education (PMRI) approach using aquaculture context. This research used mixed method, namely classroom action research method and pre-experimental research methods with One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The CAR method was used to find out how to improve student achievement in geometric and measurement topic for students of TBP study program in state polytechnic of Agriculture Kupang using PMRI approach. Meanwhile, the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design method was used to test whether there were significant differences of students’ achievement before and after the implementation of PMRI approach using aquaculture context. This research was conducted in TBP study program, Fisheries and Marine Department, state polytechnic of Agriculture Kupang. The research subjects consisted of all 67 students in semester 1 of the 2019/2020 academic year of TBP study program. The results showed that the implementation of PMRI Learning Approach using aquaculture Context was able to improve student achievement of the TBP study program, Fisheries and Marine Department, State Polytechnic Of Agriculture Kupang, where the percentage of classical completeness increase from 40.30% in the 1st cycle, 54% in the second cycle, and 88.05 % in the third cycle. While the results of the statistical test showed Sig. (2-tailed) or p-value <0.05 so H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, meaning that there are significant differences in student achievement before and after the implementation of PMRI learning approach using aquaculture context

Abstract

Numeracy literacy is one of the types of literacy included in GLN, which stands for the National Literacy Movement. Numeracy literacy skills are also necessary to face the challenges of the digital and information era, but according to PISA results, Indonesia's numeracy literacy skills are still below the international average. Therefore, this study aims to develop mathematics problems based on numeracy literacy in personal contexts for junior high school students. This research is an R&D study using the ADDIE model, which includes analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The questions developed were validated by 2 validators and can be categorized as valid. The valid problems were tested on 34 eighth-grade students in one of the junior high schools in Serang Regency. The test results in the form of quantitative data were calculated using Anates V4 to measure validity, reliability, and difficulty level. The results showed that two multiple-choice questions and two essay questions were valid and reliable, while one complex multiple-choice question was found to be invalid.
