Abstract

This meta-analysis research aims to see the effectiveness of problem-based learning (PBL) to increase critical thinking skills. The study involved 20 research journals with 1386 participants. The analysis was carried out using the Meta-mar (Free Online Meta-Analysis Service) website based on the number of samples (N), mean (M), and standard deviation (SD). The analysis results showed that the value of the g random model effect size was -0.58 (95% CI = -0.878 to -0.278, p = 0.0002) with an inconsistency (I2) value of 86.4%. These results indicate that problem-based learning (PBL) has a less significant effect on increasing critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The teacher's role is significant in determining the quality of education, so the quality of teachers also needs to be considered. The government has made various efforts to improve the quality of teachers. One of the factors for the low quality of teachers is the teacher's perspective on his profession, which is still not quite right. The profession is closely related to career development. Every individual must have hope to be successful in achieving their career. Efforts to achieve a career position will be related to the development of career orientation. Career orientation to teachers is an interesting thing to discuss because teachers are often considered as someone who has an ideal personality as a role model. This study aims to describe the career orientation of teachers based on educational background, gender, and regional origin. The research method uses a literature study. Based on the results of this study, who found that in developing career orientation, teachers must pay attention to career self-concept, which is divided into 8 career anchors, namely technical competence, managerial competence, autonomy, job security/geographical security, creativity, and entrepreneurship, pure challenge, lifestyle integrity. Educational background and linearity will affect the skills and professionalism of teachers. Gender affects teacher career orientation, and we can see that the number of female teachers in Indonesia is more than male. The origin of the area affects the career orientation of teachers because it is related to equal distribution of education, development, the development of science and technology.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to find out how significant verbal imitation on improving language production in 4-6 years old speech delay children at Kindergarten “X” This study used one group pretest-posttest design, with measuring tools used in this study is developmental milestones of Language Production by Olmstead (1971) and has been modified by the researcher. Expert judges tested the validity and reliability testing of the measuring tools. The samples of this study were 8 children who met the sample characteristics and were selected using purposive sampling techniques. The results of statistical test using Wilcoxon is p = 0.019 < 0.05 with Z = -2.366. It indicates differences in children's language production before and after the child undergoing a verbal imitation program. Theoretical suggestions for further research is to conduct a collaborative study that intervenes both parents and children simultaneously. Practically, parents and teachers should continue providing clear and consistent directions to children to correctly imitate the articulate sound of words. Child practitioners are suggested to consider verbal imitation program as an intervention in dealing with children who have a speech delay.

Abstract

Indonesia is a multi-cultural country and has a plurality in many dimensions. This pluralistic culture is a nation's wealth capital in understanding and interacting with other nations. Current developments have led us to wider interactions across national borders where the relationship involves intercultural aspects. However, building and fostering ethnocultural empathy is an accumulative and continuous process and requires consistency over a long period of time. The most important first process is that we need to analyze the state of cultural empathy in society. This exploration, of course, requires a valid and reliable measuring instrument. As a challenge, we don't have limited instruments to explore this yet. In developing the instrument, the vast territory of Indonesia requires us to research in several periods to get maximum results. In this study, the Scale of Ethnocultural Empathy will be adapted and developed by Wang et al. and tested its validity and reliability in the central region of Indonesia. The number of items tested was 59 on 399 people, consisting of 18 males and 381 females. As for the distribution of the tribes living on Kalimantan, Bali, and Sulawesi, 24% came from the Javanese, and 44.86% of the total population came from the Makasarese, Bugis, Balinese, Ambonese, Minahasa, Dayak, and Kalimantan Malays. The study results showed that the scale of cultural empathy (The Scale of Ethnocultural Empathy / SEE) as a result of adaptation and development of 59 items was declared valid as many as 55 items and 4 items dropped. The results of the study also showed that who selected the scale of cultural empathy (The Scale of Ethnocultural Empathy / SEE) as many as 55 valid items, 58 items that met the item discriminatory value with riX 0.30 in the item discrepancy test stage, thus remaining 55 items based on the validity and item discrepancy. The results of the study also show that the scale of cultural empathy (The Scale ofEthnoculturall Empathy / SEE) as many as 55 items that meet the value of item discriminating power and validity was tested for reliability and obtained a Cronbach's Alpha score of 0.797 so that the instrument with 55 items can be accepted as a scale with reliability. Very high.

Abstract

The existence of complex dynamics in the behavior of individuals in groups can explain the theoretical constructs of individual and group relations that continue to develop today. One of the developed theoretical contracts is the theory of identity fusion. This study aims to compile an identity fusion scale based on Gomez, Swann, Vazquez, Brooks, Buhrmester, & Jetten's verbal identity fusion scale in 2011. There are several processes for compiling a measuring instrument in this study. First, by conducting an open-ended questionnaire to find behavioral indicators that emerged. The second is to test the content validity using Aiken's V content validity coefficient value. Third, to test the construct validity by doing Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). Fourth is to test the validity of the criteria by correlating the scale of identity fusion and social identity. Finally, the researcher estimated the reliability of the final item compilation. The results showed that 27 items could use to measure verbal identity fusion, with a Cronbach alpha coefficient of 0.935. Based on the correlation results, there is a positive relationship between identity fusion and social identity. Although there are different perspectives in explaining individual behavior, the fusion of identity and social identity is a complementary and related construct.
