Abstract

Subjective well-being is an indicator of mental health that plays an essential role in college students because it significantly predicts academic achievement and dropout rates. This study aimed to determine the effect of perceptions on the quality of higher education services, social support, and self-regulation on college students' subjective well-being. The sample in this study was 325 college students from various universities in Indonesia. The data in this study were obtained through the College Student Subjective Well-Being Questionnaire, the Higher Education Performance Scale, the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, and the Self Regulation Questionnaire to measure variables in this study. The collected data were then analyzed using multiple linear regression. This study showed that student perceptions of college service quality, social support, and self-regulation significantly influence college students' subjective well-being. Student perceptions of the college service quality were the main predictor of college students' subjective well-being. The implication of this research was that to improve the subjective well-being of college students, a comprehensive approach is needed that includes quality services from universities, social support, and good self-regulation skills in students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the online Emotion-Focused Couples Communication Program on increasing marital satisfaction during the COVID-19 pandemic among married women in Indonesia. This research uses a mixed-method approach. The sampling technique employed is non-probability sampling, specifically convenience or accidental sampling. Qualitative data was collected through observation, interviews, and verbal feedback from participants in each therapy session. Quantitative data collection utilized participant demographic questionnaires (personal data and description of insomnia problems), PCI (Primary Communication Inventory), and DAS (The Dyadic Adjustment Scale). The study results indicate that qualitatively, all participants experienced an improvement in their communication skills with their husbands. Additionally, this data is supported by significant statistical tests and an increase in the average score of husbands' perception of their wives' communication abilities. Qualitatively, all participants felt that the group intervention had a positive impact.

Abstract

The study aimed to use role-play techniques to determine aggressive behavior in physical aggression (hitting and pushing) and verbal aggression (teasing and yelling) by children toward other children. The study used a quasi-experimental method, with a single case, with an A-B-A design, then this data was processed with descriptive analysis and hypothesis testing with a pre-post-test design, with a comparative test of baseline scores one and 2. Processing with hypothesis testing with Wilcoxon signed test. Participants in the study were six boys aged 9-11 years (M = 10.9, SD 1.2) and students in grades 4-5 SD. The results of the descriptive analysis above show a decrease in aggressive behavior scores at each stage of the intervention, both physical and verbal aggressiveness. The results of testing the hypothesis using the analysis program SPSS Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test showed a Z value of -3.066 at a significance level of p <.001. This means that the hypothesis is accepted, meaning there is a significant decrease in the scores of aggressive behavior before and after the intervention with the role-play technique.

Abstract

Health workers have jobs that have a heavy burden. Long and uncertain working hours and patients with various characteristics and diseases cause health workers to have high burnout levels. This study aims to see the role of job control and coping strategies as a moderator in the effect of emotional job demands on burnout. This research is a cross-sectional quantitative study with a sample of 142 health workers. This study uses instruments from the Oldenburg Burnout Inventory, Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire II (COPSOQ II), Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire, and Brief COPE Inventory (Coping Orientation to Problems Experienced). Data processing uses process macro moderation analysis by Andrew F. Hayes through the SPSS Program. The study results show that job control moderates emotional job demands and the exhaustion dimension of burnout. Meanwhile, coping strategies, problem-focused or emotion-focused coping moderates between emotional job demands and the burnout dimension of disengagement. The workplace of health workers can provide job control by the position and work of the workers, which are still within the limits of their authority and responsibility. Health workers can also be given activities or programs that can improve their coping skills, either those that focus on behavior or those that focus on emotions.

Abstract

This research investigates the role of workplace well-being on Millennials'  intention to stay. Intention to stay refers to a person's tendency to stay in the organization where they work for a more extended period. Workplace well-being is a sense of well-being obtained from work related to the feelings of workers in general (core affect) and intrinsic and extrinsic work values. A cross-sectional survey design was used in this study. Data was collected through a Google form distributed to employees in the Jabodetabek area aged 27-40 with a minimum of 1 year of working experience, and the last education was high school or equivalent—the completed questionnaire obtained 211 answers. The instrument for measuring the will to survive uses the Intention to Stay Scale adaptation scale from Kyndt et al. (2009), and well-being at work is measured by the Work Well-Being Questionnaire from Parker and Hyett (2014). The statistical analysis used was descriptive statistics, Spearman correlation statistics, Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), and exponential regression. There is a positive and significant role of workplace well-being on intention to stay in Millennials with an R square of 0.821, and the regression equation is Y = 1.431 + 0.255 X. Research has shown that when employees feel cared for, valued, and supported at work, they tend to have higher intentions to stay employed.

Abstract

Adolescence is a transition period from childhood to adulthood, which is marked by dynamic individual development and makes adolescents classified as vulnerable individuals to experiencing mental illness. However, the data shows that teachers, as the closest environment for adolescent students at school, still lack knowledge regarding psychological issues and how to deal with them when they occur at school. This intervention aims to determine the effectiveness of Psychological First Aid (PFA) psychoeducation for teachers in dealing with depression in adolescents. This intervention was carried out on 22 teachers. Analysis of the pre-test and post-test using the paired sample t-test showed an increase in the mean score of the pre-test (M=10.05) and post-test (M=11.68). The results of the intervention show that providing PFA psychoeducation is effective in increasing teachers' knowledge and skills in dealing with adolescent depression complaints.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools are places where students learn and live while they complete their education. Students undoubtedly had difficulties in the Islamic boarding school, including the transition process. According to the preliminary evaluation findings at the Assalam Islamic Modern Islamic Boarding School, students' self-adjustment capacity is quite long. 38% of the 150 students at PPMI Assalam reported a more extended adjustment period during their early move, especially students in their first year at Islamic boarding schools. The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between social skills and students' self-adjustment, as well as to discover age disparities in students' self-adjustment. The first hypothesis in this study is a favorable association between social skills and self-adjustment in students. The second hypothesis is that students' adjustment differs depending on their age. The subjects of this study were Islamic boarding school students from Modern Islam Assalam, and four classes were chosen randomly from a total of 22 courses. From the four completed clusters, 103 students were selected. This study employed a quantitative approach, with questionnaires provided on paper. This study's tools are the self-adjustment scale and the social skills scale. The Anacoval test was used to assess data in this study. The results showed that social skills positively correlated with self-adjustment, and age was not the main predictor of differences in students' self-adjustment.

Abstract

The leaders of Muhammadiyah in branches are the key persons of Muhammadiyah who must be grit in maintaining, developing, and raising Muhammadiyah as the driving force of the Muhammadiyah organization. One of the factors that influence grit is the growth mindset. This study examines the effect of a growth mindset on the grit of Muhammadiyah leaders in branches. The sample is Muhammadiyah leaders in branches from the Purbalingga and Banyumas areas (N=37), taken using convenience sampling. This study uses a quantitative approach by deploying a modified grit scale from Duckworth's theory (2016) and a growth mindset scale adapted from Chen (2021). The results showed no effect of a growth mindset on grit (p>0.05). It is estimated that other factors influence the tenacity of Muhammadiyah leaders. Further discussion is discussed in this study.
