Abstract

Limited media and classical teaching patterns used in Indonesian language learning. This results in less effective student learning processes in building language skills. Audio-visual-based DOMAR (Picture Fairy Tales) media was developed based on this background. This research aims to analyze the development process, feasibility, and effectiveness of media in improving the listening skills of class II students. The method in this research is the development method or Research and Development (R&D). The subjects in this research were second-grade elementary school students. The development model in this research is the ADDIE model with the following stages: (1) analysis, (2) design, (3) development, (4) implementation, and (5) evaluation. Data collection consists of observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis uses paired sample tests. The results of this development show that the media validation questionnaire is 90% and the material validation questionnaire is 89%, which is included in the very feasible category. In assessing student responses, the average percentage was 89%, and teacher responses were 88% with very good criteria. So, the media developed is very suitable for use in learning Indonesian.

Abstract

This research arose because of the need to understand how differentiated learning affects the national insight of elementary school students. Differentiated learning is an approach that allows teachers to present learning material in different ways according to the needs and level of understanding of each student. This study aims to analyze the impact of differentiated learning and learning motivation on the national insight of elementary school students. This study used an experimental approach with a treatment design by level 2 x 2. The study participants involved 100 elementary school students. Nationality insight is measured through essay tests. Data analysis was performed using SPSS Vol 26 software, with analysis techniques including descriptive tests, prerequisite tests, and inferential analysis using the two-way ANAVA test. The results showed that there was a significant influence of the differentiated learning model on the national insight of elementary school students, as well as the positive influence of learning motivation on increasing the national insight of elementary school students. This study also found an interaction between differentiated learning models and student learning motivation towards the insight of nationality of elementary school students. The implications of this research can be used as a guide for elementary school teachers in developing students' national insights, by paying attention to differentiated learning factors and learning motivation.

Abstract

Excessive use of gadgets and lack of assistance and parental supervision have a negative impact on early childhood. This research is a qualitative type with a research design approach, namely a case study. The study involved 4 primary subjects with the characteristics of mothers of children in the age range of 5-6 years. The purpose of this study is to analyze the habitual activities of parents in providing assistance to children, efforts to form a communication relationship with children, to the impact on the use of gadgets. Data collection using the questionnaire method with google forms, interviews and documentation which are then analysed with a qualitative approach. The results show that parents play an important role in assistance starting from granting permission to use, monitoring, to providing a safe duration/time. This research found that parents are overwhelmed to fulfill the assistance authority due to various factors: (1) busy parents are overcome by giving gadgets to children; (2) limited knowledge of the introduction of safe gadgets; (3) the characteristics of children who are already comfortable with gadgets; (4) the belief that the need for gadgets is not a bad thing, but rather a single solution to various problems including child development (e.g. gadgets help increase the vocabulary of children with speech delays). Meanwhile, the lack of assistance from parents results in excessive use of gadgets. The implications of this research are used as readers' future views regarding the importance of assistance and supervision in the use of gadgets in early childhood.

Abstract

Beginning reading is an ability that students must master in elementary school. In the implementation process, students who still have difficulty in beginning reading are sometimes found. These difficulties become an obstacle in the student's learning process because success in mastering reading skills at the initial reading stage will impact the development of subsequent reading skills. This research aims to analyze the types of initial reading difficulties in students, the factors that influence initial reading difficulties in students, and the efforts made by teachers to overcome initial reading difficulties in second-grade elementary school students. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods. Data collection techniques are done through interviews, observation, tests, and documentation. The study results showed that three second-grade students had difficulty reading initially. In research, it is known that the types of initial reading difficulties in students are: (a) not fluent in reading, (b) many errors in reading, (c) difficulty distinguishing similar letters, (d) inability to understand symbols sounds. Factors that influence students' initial reading difficulties are physiological, intellectual, environmental, and psychological factors. Efforts made by teachers to overcome students' initial reading difficulties are: (a) giving assignments to students, (b) providing additional hours after school, (c) preparing reading learning media such as alphabet letter posters, letter cards, and books that support students' initial reading ability, (d) teaching using the alphabet method.

Abstract

PISA 2018 was released from 78 countries; Indonesia was ranked 70th; only 25% could read, and 24% could count. The research aims to analyze the factors of literacy and numeracy difficulties in the independent learning curriculum. The method used is a mixed method. The subjects were 130 middle school students. Data collection techniques used surveys, observations and interviews. The survey was conducted by distributing instruments to 130 people via Google on a 1-5 point Likert scale. Data was also obtained during randomly selected observations and interviews. The survey analysis technique used SPSS 26, which formed a bar chart. The interview results were analyzed by presenting the data and collecting it, then reducing it, coding it in tables, and verifying the interview with a survey. The results and findings show that 48.63% assess that the Basic Class is difficult to implement, 67.67% assess that the School Culture indicators are not optimal, and 78.54% assess that the Community Base has minimal implementation. The results of observations and interviews also intersect with survey results. According to the third source, indicators of success in literacy and numeracy in schools still need to be fully implemented and meet qualification expectations. In conclusion, minimal implementation of the third indicator impacts students' weak literacy and numeracy skills. This research implies that assignments or projects designed by teachers for students help and train students to improve their literacy and numeracy.
