Abstract

An understanding of environmental cleanliness is an important element in achieving early childhood learning related to the habituation of clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS), one of the elements of early childhood development assessment, namely the element of identity in the implementation of the independent curriculum. This study aims to analyze the project-based learning model on the ability to understand environmental hygiene in children aged 5-6 years in Kindergarten. This type of research is quantitative. The experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design was used in this study. The sample is 38 children. Data collection techniques through observation with assessment instruments. Data analysis techniques using descriptive qualitative analysis, quantitative and inferential statistics. The study results are that the project-based learning model significantly affects the ability to understand environmental hygiene in early childhood by creating quality interactions between teachers and children and increasing thinking skills (Higher Order Thinking Skills- HOTS). The ability to understand is included in HOTS, while data on the ability to understand cleanliness related to Clean Healthy Lifestyle (PHBS) collected include; the child's ability to understand the cleanliness of the room/toilet/latrine; do not litter; understand self-protection from mosquito larvae, the importance of planting trees in creating clean air; and cleanliness of the gutters around the child's environment.

Abstract

Children are active in online activities, especially on social media. It leads to an urgent need to increase digital literacy early to minimize the risks of online harm. This study analyzes the effectiveness of digital literacy modules and learning media in the COVID-19 pandemic by using digital learning resources such as videos and electronic books. This type of research is quantitative. The method used is a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The sample in this study was 219 people, namely early childhood 5-6 years, teachers, and parents. The data collection technique for this research used a pre-test and post-test and a questionnaire with a Likert scale. The data analysis technique used is paired t-test. The study results demonstrate the relevance and applicability of e-learning modules in content and structure for children, particularly in developing awareness about healthy eating. It was concluded that digital literacy learning modules and media were quite effective and made it easier for students to absorb learning material from teachers with diverse backgrounds and abilities.

Abstract

The low ability to read in the early stages of children aged 4-5 is due to the absence of teaching reading methods in schools. The purpose of this study is to explore and identify the early reading abilities of children aged 4-5 years through the implementation of the phonics approach. This type of research uses qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The subjects in this study were group A, aged 4-5 years, with as many as 18 children, ten boys, and eight girls. Methods of data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research instrument used interview guidelines and research observation sheets. The data analysis technique uses the following steps: data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion or verification. Based on the findings and discussion, the application of the phonics approach as an alternative method that is very effective and efficient is considered capable of dealing with lazy reading in early childhood. The implication of implementing a phonics approach using various media is very young for children in exploring early reading skills. Thus this phonics approach method is very feasible to be applied to early childhood in improving early reading learning at school.

Abstract

Introducing culture through the learning process to early childhood requires readiness from educators. The purpose of this research is to describe how the teacher's readiness to introduce Betawi culture in learning in Kindergarten. The research was conducted using qualitative methods with a case study approach. Respondents were 2 people consisting of school principals and teachers. Data collection was carried out using open interview methods, observation of the learning process, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out using the Milles and Hubberman model with 4 steps, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions/verification. The results of the study show that although teachers still need to improve their understanding of the Merdeka Curriculum, teachers are ready to introduce Betawi culture to children, especially the I Love Indonesia theme with the topic Es Selendang Mayang. Readiness can be seen from the selection of materials, preparation of teaching materials, and mastery of teaching materials, where this occurs, among other things, due to the teacher's critical reflection and the collaboration of school principals, teachers, and parents. The implication is the need for collaboration between teachers, principals, and parents in introducing local culture as the implementation of the Independent Curriculum; as well as increasing teacher knowledge about local culture so that they can master the material that will be presented while at the same time being able to create a learning environment that is in accordance with the local cultural material.

Abstract

Block center learning in kindergarten is influenced by government education programs, including the driving school program as a school that pioneered the implementation of the independent curriculum. This study aims to analyze the implementation of block-center learning integrated with the driving school program. This research is field research with a qualitative approach. The research subjects were school principals, teachers, and students of driving schools. Data was collected through interviews, observation, and documentation techniques, which were then analyzed through condensation, data presentation, and conclusion. The study results show that block center learning implementation consists of planning by designing teaching modules and lesson plans, determining methods and media, and developing themes, sub-themes, and topics. Second, implementation is carried out on four bases according to the BCCT learning model guidelines. Several adjustments support forming a Pancasila student profile and reflect independent learning. Child development evaluation is carried out through an assessment using a work record instrument. This study concludes that government support, facilities and infrastructure, various online platforms, the readiness of educators and education staff, and simplification of curriculum instruments are very important to support the successful implementation of learning. Inhibiting factors in the implementation of learning must be mitigated by various policies at the school level and from the government so that learning can run better.

Abstract

The low ability of early childhood science is due to the need for more use of appropriate media for the child's developmental stage. This study aims to develop a learning media as an e-book with illustrated stories to test its validity and effectiveness in improving children's science skills in Kindergarten. This research is included in the type of development research by applying the Borg and Gall model. The subjects of this study consisted of 3 experts in validation and 38 children for the product trial class. The data collection method used was a questionnaire with research instruments in the form of observation sheets of children's science abilities, material expert instruments, language, and media. Data from the material validation test results obtained a percentage of 80% Valid category, Language validation 100% Very Valid category, and media validation 97.33% very valid category. The small group trials were 78.65%, and the moderate class trials were 85.73 in the very effective category. So the development of STEAM-based picture story e-books is feasible and effective for improving children's science skills in Kindergarten. The implications of this research can add to the variety of digitalization media in early childhood education, which can motivate and attract children's learning interests.
