Abstract

This study addresses the issue of score inconsistency in performance-based assessment (PBA), particularly in creative disciplines where fairness and reliability are crucial. The main objectives of this study were to evaluate the reliability of PBA scores and analyze sources of measurement error using Generalizability Theory (G-Theory). This quantitative study employed a fully crossed (p × r × d) design in an eveningwear construction course. A total of 70 student fashion products were assessed by four assessors consisting of two internal lecturers and two external industry professionals byusing a five-dimensional rubric. Data were collected through standardized scoring sheets and analyzed using linear mixed-effects modeling in R software (lme4 package). Variance components were estimated in the Generalizability Study (G-Study), followed by simulations in the Decision Study (D-Study) to test various assessment configurations. The G-Study results indicated that the largest variance component came from residual error (50.42%), followed by product differences (43.44%), while the contributions of assessors and dimensions were relatively small. The D-Study showed that increasing the number of raters and rubric dimensions significantly increased reliability; a configuration of four raters and five dimensions resulted in a generalizability coefficient of 0.9185. These findings confirm that G-Theory is effective for diagnosing and optimizing reliability in the context of creative assessment. This research provides practical insights for educators in designing fairer and more reliable assessment systems, and opens up opportunities for the application of psychometrics in vocational and design education.

Abstract

The main issue underlying this study is the still low quality and quantity of scientific publications by lecturers in Indonesia, particularly in reputable national and international journals. This situation is exacerbated by the limited availability of truly structured scientific writing training programs that are based on participants' needs and include a continuous evaluation mechanism. Many training programs focus solely on technical aspects without considering differences in participants’ academic backgrounds, the effectiveness of teaching methods, or the long term impact on academic productivity. This study aims to evaluate a scientific article writing training program organized by the Directorate of Research and Community Service, using the CIPP evaluation model (Context, Input, Process, Product). The study employs a mixed methods approach, with data collection techniques including questionnaires, semi structured interviews, and documentation. The evaluation results show that the training addressed participants' contextual needs (context), had fairly adequate input, especially in terms of facilitators and materials, but still faced challenges in the training process (process), particularly regarding participant interaction and teaching methods. Overall, the product of the training (product) indicated an improvement in participants’ writing skills, with most able to produce draft scientific articles. The study recommends improvements in training methodology and feedback mechanisms to enhance the effectiveness and long term impact of the training.

Abstract

Universities are no longer sufficient to emphasize only cognitive aspects. However, they must also be able to facilitate students in developing practical skills relevant to the needs of the workplace and society. This study aims to analyze the effect of Product-Based Learning (PBL) on the collaboration skills of vocational students in the Visual Communication Design (VCD) program. The method was a quasi-experimental posttest-only control group design with a sample of 72 students, divided into experimental (PdBL) and control (Project-Based Learning) groups. The instruments were questionnaires and observations of six aspects of collaboration skills. Data analysis used a t-test and Cohen's d effect size calculation. The results showed that implementing product-based learning significantly improved students' collaboration skills, reflected in their ability to work in teams, share roles, and constructively resolve conflicts. Students also showed positive developments in 21st-century skills, such as effective communication, creative problem-solving, and critical thinking skills in designing and producing products relevant to real needs. The effect size confirms that PdBL has a very strong impact on improving collaboration skills. The novelty of this research lies in the quantitative analysis of the effect size of PdBL in vocational education in Visual Communication Design (DKV), a practice rarely studied before. The implication is that PdBL can be an effective strategy for strengthening 21st-century soft skills, particularly collaboration, while also addressing the needs of the creative industry and Society 5.

Abstract

Elementary school students' early reading skills are still low, resulting in delays in understanding learning materials. The lack of innovative and interactive learning media causes students to be less motivated in developing early literacy skills. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of augmented reality-based pop-up book media in improving students' early reading skills by emphasizing analysis, evaluation, and application skills. The type of research used is an experiment with a single-group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects involved 35 students aged 6–7 years as trial subjects. Data were collected through a test of early reading skills using pretest and posttest instruments. Data analysis was carried out using a t-test to determine the average difference before and after treatment. The results of the study showed a significant increase in students' early reading skills after using augmented reality-based pop-up book media, which proves that this media is able to support the learning process more effectively and enjoyably. The conclusion of this study confirms that augmented reality-based pop-up book media is effective in improving students' early reading skills, while addressing the problem of low basic literacy. The implications of this research indicate that the use of interactive technology can be an important strategy for teachers to enrich early literacy learning media to make it more interesting, contextual, and appropriate to the needs of the digital generation.

Abstract

Social skills in early childhood are crucial to character building, school readiness, and long-term success in social life. However, many early childhood education institutions still emphasize academic-oriented learning, thus suboptimally stimulating children's social and emotional development. This study aims to design and test a contextual learning model based on the local wisdom of Kato Nan Ampek to improve children's social skills. The study used a Research and Development approach with the ADDIE model, involving experts, teachers, and children as subjects. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and expert validation. Data were analyzed using a combination of quantitative and qualitative descriptive techniques. The validation results showed that all learning tools were valid to very valid. The practicality test by teachers obtained an average score of 85.08%, indicating that this model is practical and easy to implement. The effectiveness test showed significant improvements in children's verbal communication, nonverbal communication, empathy, cooperation, and social problem-solving. These findings emphasize the importance of integrating local cultural values into the early childhood education curriculum to strengthen social competence and support culturally responsive pedagogy.

Abstract

In this digital space, language practices no longer strictly adhere to existing conventional norms. The younger generation actively utilizes social media platforms and creates new variations in language practices. This study aims to analyze the diglossia phenomenon in youth communication in the digital realm, particularly on social media. This study applies a descriptive qualitative approach with a content analysis method to data obtained from social media platforms X (Twitter) and Facebook. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques use descriptive qualitative analysis. The study results show the practice of digital diglossia among young people, which can be observed through standard and non-standard language, the use of slang, code mixing, and the inclusion of visual symbols (emojis and memes). This language variety can indicate social closeness, group identity, and adaptation to online community norms, effectively contributing to learning English through social media. It is concluded that social media has become a broad space for the practice of diglossia, which is very dynamic and flexible. It has become an effective source of English learning in today's modern era. The implications of the research show that the phenomenon of dual language use by adolescents, especially in the digital realm, can be utilized as an authentic and contextual learning resource.
