Abstract

Abstract

Microenterprises in rural areas face significant challenges due to reliance on unstable conventional electricity, which directly impacts crop failure and low productivity in hydroponic melon cultivation and biofloc catfish farming. Energy instability disrupts nutrient circulation and water oxygenation, hindering the sustainability of agricultural and aquaculture operations. This community service project aims to examine the effectiveness of integrating renewable energy technology through the implementation of a Solar Water Pump (SWP) system in enhancing production efficiency and the sustainability of microenterprises in agriculture. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design. The subjects comprised two main groups: 10 farmers from the Sumber Tani Group and 10 aquaculture practitioners. Data were collected through field observations, in-depth interviews, documentation, and focus group discussions, guided by structured observation and interview instruments. Thematic analysis was applied, including stages of identification, coding, and interpretation of key issues emerging during program implementation. The findings indicate improved production system efficiency, reduced risk of crop failure, and higher operational cost efficiency following the adoption of SWP technology. These results highlight the potential of solar energy technology to strengthen the resilience of microenterprises in agriculture and aquaculture.

Abstract

The increasing migration of Indonesian citizens to Malaysia has generated significant legal and social challenges, particularly for undocumented children. Many of these children are born to migrant workers or from unregistered marriages, leaving them without recognized citizenship in either Indonesia or Malaysia. The absence of legal documentation restricts their access to education and healthcare services and exposes them to the risk of deportation upon reaching adulthood. This community service initiative employed a service-learning and counseling approach to address these issues, utilizing a qualitative descriptive research design to gain an in-depth understanding of the challenges faced by undocumented Indonesian children in Malaysia. The program was implemented through several stages, including data collection, situational analysis, program implementation, and impact evaluation. A questionnaire was used to gather participants’ feedback and assess community satisfaction with the intervention. The findings indicate that diplomatic intervention and cross-border policy measures are urgently needed to protect, support, and secure the future of Indonesian children lacking legal citizenship status abroad.

Abstract

Open Journal System or known as OJS is an online based software application in universities used to improve Institutional publications by providing open access to journals to continue to revive the Tri Dharma of Lecturers. OJS has an important role in all aspects of online journal publishing from creating journal websites to operational tasks such as the author submission process, peer review (correction), editing, archives publication, and indexing. This training aims to improve accessibility and indexing at the Shipbuilding Institute of Polytechnic Surabaya (PPNS) and facilitate the resolution of problems related to the management of seminar proceedings at PPNS. This training implements the practice of using OJS proceedings for each Study Program by each editor. The participants were 35 editors, both lecture editors and student editors from each study program in PPNS that manage the OJS. The data were collected through an online survey in the form of a questionnaire, then analyzed using the E-S-QUAL method to determine the gap between expectations and perceptions after the training. The results showed that the majority of participants (51.7%) agreed and the rest (37.9%) strongly agreed that OJS was easy to access in this training. The results of this training provide recommendations for PPNS and the formation of a paradigm for other educational institutions that face similar challenges in managing seminar proceedings.
