Abstract

This study aims to measure the effect of using the Stellarium application on improving the science literacy of Grade X students on solar system material at Sirenja 2 State Senior High School. The method used is a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent control group design. The research sample consisted of two classes selected purposively, the experimental class (X-A) and the control class (X-C). Data collection included observation of student learning activities, pre-tests and post-tests, as well as questionnaires on student responses to the use of learning media. Data analysis was carried out through several stages of testing, namely reliability testing, normality testing to test data distribution, homogeneity testing to see the similarity of variance between groups, and hypothesis testing using the T-test. The results showed that the average score of the experimental class was 82.00, while the control class had an average score of 63.21. The t-test on the post-test results showed a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05, which means that H₀ was rejected and H₁ was accepted. This indicates that the use of the Stellarium application had a positive effect on improving students' science literacy. In addition, the questionnaire results showed that 30% of students answered (strongly agree) and 64% of students answered (agree), with the remaining 6% answering otherwise. Thus, the experimental class responded positively to learning using Stellarium, stating that the media was interesting, helped their understanding, and increased their curiosity about.

Abstract

Coal is a major economic pillar in East Kalimantan, Indonesia and a source of national income. Specifically, Kerta Buana Village is a coal-producing village with mining operations operated by two large mining companies. As a transmigration site, social integration in Kerta Buana Village is formed through a complex process of cultural adaptation. Furthermore, mining exploration in the area around Kerta Buana coincides with the arrival of transmigrants. Based on this background, this study was conducted to analyze the impact of the coal mining industry on the social and economic conditions of the local community around the mine in Kerta Buana Village. This study is a qualitative study with data collection methods conducted through documentation, observation, and interviews. The findings show that the social impacts are reflected in health, education, as well as social and environmental vulnerabilities, while the economic impacts are seen in employment, non-mining economic activities, and infrastructure development. To address these negative impacts, sustainable and responsible mining practices, strict law enforcement, corporate social responsibility programs, and effective environmental rehabilitation are required.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of understanding information acquisition modalities (VAK) as a factor that can affect students' learning outcomes in geography subjects at the secondary school level. The purpose of this study is to analyze the tendency to receive information (VAK) of grade XI students at SMAN 3 Gorontalo and its relationship with geography learning outcomes. This study uses a descriptive quantitative approach by collecting data through an information receipt questionnaire (VAK) and documentation of geographic values. The results showed that auditory information reception was the most dominant, followed by visual and kinesthetic information reception. The results of correlation and regression analysis showed that the relationship between the information reception modality (AVK) and the Geography value was not statistically significant, with the contribution of the information reception modality (AVK) only 1.3%. These findings show that the information reception modality (AVK) is not the main factor that directly determines the achievement of Geography learning outcomes, but there are other factors that are more dominant However, this finding emphasizes the importance of implementing adaptive learning strategies so that differences in students' information reception modalities can be optimally accommodated.

Abstract

This study investigated the impact of self-confidence and learning motivation on the geography learning outcomes of tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 4 Singaraja. Employing a quantitative approach, it drew from a population of 251 students, with a sample of 155 respondents selected using the Slovin formula at a 5% error tolerance. Data were gathered through questionnaires and documentation, then analyzed via product moment correlation, multiple linear regression, prerequisite tests, and hypothesis testing. The findings reveal a positive and significant influence of self-confidence on geography learning outcomes (t = 2.388; p = 0.000 < 0.05), alongside a similarly strong effect from learning motivation (t = 5.80; p = 0.000 < 0.05). Collectively, both variables exert a significant simultaneous impact (F = 22.368; p = 0.000 < 0.05). These results underscore the value of fostering self-confidence and motivation to boost academic performance in geography, offering practical insights for educators aiming to enhance student engagement and achievement.
