Abstract

Malalayang District is one of the activity centers in Manado City, encompassing offices, educational institutions, as well as trade and service sectors. The high volume of vehicle mobility in this area has led to frequent traffic congestion across most road segments, primarily due to limited parking space and widespread on-street parking. This study aims to analyze the spatial relationship between traffic congestion and the distribution of on-street parking, as well as other potential contributing factors. The Space Syntax method is applied to map the connection between spatial configuration and community activities. The results indicate that on-street parking is a major contributing factor to congestion, especially on roads with high closeness centrality values. Therefore, the development of off-street parking facilities and integrated spatial planning policies are urgently needed to improve traffic flow in the area.

Abstract

The trend in high school geography textbook research is focused on analyzing textbooks based on content, language, presentation, and design standards. Existing research has found heterogeneity in the assessment results of geography textbooks from the 2013 Curriculum to the Independent Curriculum, necessitating a generalization in one article to examine geography textbooks over the past 10 years. The purpose of this study was to analyze high school geography textbooks for the period 2016-2026. The results indicate that, in general, the quality of geography textbooks has shown a good grade, as indicated by the results of content analysis with a range of 60-90%, good language analysis with a range of 30-80%, presentation analysis with a range of 40-75%, and design analysis with a good category in the range of 35-80%. High school geography textbooks have encouraged the development of 21st-century competencies in students. However, several notes were found that certain sections need improvement, such as spiritual content and content depth. Thus, high school geography textbooks can be used by educators and students in learning.

Abstract

Spatial inequality in Banten Province demonstrates a stark contrast in development between the advanced northern region and the underdeveloped southern region. This article aims to conceptually examine how the issue of spatial inequality can be integrated into contextual-based Social Studies (IPS) learning to strengthen students’ social and geospatial literacy. This study employs a literature review approach using academic sources, data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), and regional development reports. The findings show that the areas of Greater Tangerang, Serang, and Cilegon have experienced rapid progress due to their proximity to Jakarta, industrial concentration, and adequate infrastructure. Meanwhile, Lebak and Pandeglang continue to face development challenges due to limited accessibility and human resources. Social Studies learning that incorporates local issues has proven effective in enhancing students’ critical thinking, social empathy, and spatial awareness. Therefore, integrating the issue of spatial inequality into Social Studies education can strengthen its relevance in shaping a generation that is aware of social justice and committed to sustainable development.

Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomesthrough the application of the Game Based Learningmodel based on Wordwall in the Introduction to Geography subject at SMA Negeri1 Kabila. The method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR), whichwas carried out in two cycles with the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects consisted of 37 tenth-grade students. Datawas collected through observation, learning outcome tests, and documentation, thenanalyzed descriptively. The results showed an increase inlearning outcomes from an average of 73 in cycle I to 86 in cycle II, withclassical completeness increasing from 70.27% to 91.89%. Student learning activities and teacher involvement also increased at each meeting. The application of  Wordwall-based Game Based Learning proved to be effectivein creating interactive and enjoyable learning, as well asincreasing student motivation and learning outcomes.

Abstract

Massive industrial estate development in Kendal Regency has caused agricultural land conversion and potential spatial planning inconsistencies. This study aims to evaluate land suitability levels for industrial estates and their alignment with the 2011–2031 Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW) of Kendal Regency. The method employs a quantitative descriptive approach using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) through overlay and buffering techniques on six physical land parameters. The results indicate that the Kendal region is generally dominated by the Moderately Suitable category (57.55%). However, specifically within the designated industrial zones in the RTRW, the land is dominated by the Marginally Suitable class (58.27%), with the Highly Suitable class reaching only 5.51%. This indicates that the planned industrial locations possess dominant physical limiting factors, requiring appropriate technical engineering and strict environmental management to ensure optimal and sustainable land utilization.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of accessibility and the adequacy of facilities for Catholic pastoral services at parish and outstation centers in Maumere City. Accessibility is assessed based on distance, travel time, and road conditions, while facility adequacy includes the availability of church buildings, toilets, parking areas, lighting, and worship space capacity. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach through field observations, interviews, documentation, and analysis of physical facility conditions. The results indicate that parishes located in urban areas have high accessibility and more adequate facilities, enabling optimal pastoral services. In contrast, outstations in peripheral areas still face limitations in infrastructure and basic facilities. These findings reflect disparities in the spatial distribution of church services, highlighting the need for infrastructure improvement and collaborative efforts among parishes, government, and communities to achieve more equitable and sustainable pastoral services.

Abstract

Changes in coffee plantation land use are closely related to sustainability of production and regional land management. Dairi Regency, as one of the main coffee producing areas in North Sumatra, has shown indications of a decline in coffee land area in recent years. This study aims to identify changes in coffee land use in Dairi Regency between 2014 and 2022 and to analyze the factors influencing these changesThe research method uses a quantitative approach based on remote sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) utilizing SPOT 7 satellite imagery. Land use classification is performed using the Random Forest algorithm, while change analysis is performed using an overlay technique. Accuracy testing is performed using a confusion matrix to obtain the level of classification accuracy. The results indicate a decrease in coffee plantation area accompanied by an increase in non coffee vegetation and built up areas, with an Overall Accuracy of 80 percent and a Kappa value of 0.76. The changes were influenced by climatic, social, and economic factors.

Abstract

Geography instruction often falls short in effectively fostering students' attitudes and skills. Consequently, a Deep Learning approach is needed to render the learning process more meaningful, reflective, and character-oriented. This study aimed to develop a Case Method-based Geography textbook on Natural Resources to support the Deep Learning approach in high schools within the Jember Regency. The study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model. The trial subjects were Grade XI students at SMA Negeri Ambulu, and the instruments used included expert validation sheets and student response questionnaires. The results indicate that the developed textbook met the criteria for validity and practicality. Student responses regarding the Case Method integrated into the textbook demonstrated excellent conceptual understanding, independence, and collaborative skills, with a rating of 93.1%. Thus, this work serves as a highly relevant reference for the development of Geography teaching materials at the high school level.

Abstract

Gerokgak District, Buleleng Regency, is one of the areas vulnerable to flooding due to its physical characteristics and changes in land use. This study aimed to assess flood vulnerability using a Geographic Information System (GIS)-based spatial analysis. The analysis applied a scoring and weighting approach to evaluate five parameters: rainfall, slope, soil type, land use, and river density. Each parameter was classified into low, medium, and high vulnerability levels. The results show that flood vulnerability is primarily influenced by topographic conditions, hydrological characteristics, and human activities. Most of the study area falls into the medium vulnerability class, while high-risk zones are concentrated in areas with gentle slopes, intensive land use, and relatively dense river networks. The resulting flood vulnerability map provides essential information for spatial planning, disaster risk reduction, and flood mitigation strategies in Gerokgak District.
