Abstract

Professional development is claimed by teachers as urgent, considering that the profession itself refers to a concrete manifestation of a combination of educational legislation, pedagogical theory, and practice in schools. This research aims to analyze the effect of pre-service and in-service education on teacher professionalism. This type of research is qualitative. This study uses a mixed methods approach with a concurrent transformative strategy model. The population includes 251 school principals. The sampling technique used was convenience sampling by distributing questionnaires to 202 returning schools. Data was collected through questionnaires, written tests, interviews, and document studies. Data analysis used Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and interpretive descriptive models. The results of the data analysis are; first, the influence of pre-service education is significant and positive on teacher leadership. Likewise, the effect on professionalism was also substantial and positive. Second, in-service education is known to significantly and positively impact teacher leadership and professionalism. Third, teacher leadership was found to significantly and positively affect professionalism. It was concluded that pre and service education completely and significantly affected professionalism through teacher leadership. The results of this study can be used as a guideline for increasing teacher professionalism in terms of leadership.

Abstract

The role of the Computer Network Engineering MGMP forum could have been more optimal in developing professional competence. If one pays attention to the usefulness of this forum, it is essential to support the improvement and development of the professional competence of SMK Computer Network Engineering teachers. This research aims to develop a Knowledge Management System-Based Training Model to improve the professional competence of vocational teachers. This research is research and development. This study uses the ADDIE development procedure. The subjects of this study were 35 teachers at SMK Computer Network Engineering Skills. The methods used to collect data are interviews and questionnaires. The data collection instrument uses a questionnaire sheet. The data analysis technique for this research is descriptive statistics. The results of this study, namely the needs analysis, show the level of need for this training model is 83.65%. The syntax of this model is an introduction, demonstration, discussion, B-KMS training, and evaluation. Products consisting of training models in book form; implementation of activity in the form of a guidebook; training materials in book form; use of applications in the form of books for admins and users; knowledge management system application. The study results show that this training model is valid, practical, effective and appropriate for use to improve teachers' professional competence.

Abstract

The problem of students' creative thinking and critical thinking skills in science learning still needs to improve, and more teachers must apply innovative learning models. This study aimed to analyze the effect of the problem-based learning model assisted by experiential learning in developing students' 21st-century thinking skills, namely creative thinking and critical thinking in science learning. This type of research is qualitative. The research method used in this research is quantitative, namely quasi-experimental. There are two research samples experimental class and the control class. Data collection methods are done through interviews, observations, tests and documentation. The analysis technique used is a normality test, homogeneity, T-test, and multivariate test with MANOVA. The results showed a significant increase in the posttest results of student's creative thinking and critical thinking skills after applying the problem-based learning model assisted by experiential learning. The MANOVA test results show that learning in the experimental and control classes increases in value even though the average differs. It was concluded that the problem-based learning model assisted by experiential learning could improve students' 21st-century thinking skills, namely creative thinking and critical thinking in science learning.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the complexity of the subject matter of Computer Networks, the large number of teachers who teach these subjects with different backgrounds, and not all of them can be practised directly due to limited laboratory facilities, accompanied by a learning model that is not yet competency-based which also makes learning outcomes not optimal. This study aims to develop three-dimensional computer network learning media using Augmented Reality Assembly Edu software in vocational education. This type of research is created using the ADDIE model, which includes analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Collection methods using observation and interviews. The data collection instrument used a questionnaire. Data analysis techniques using qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that Competency-based learning-based Augmented Reality media, validated by a team of media experts and material experts, was very valid. In contrast, students stated well because this media made it easier to understand the material and motivated them to try and learn. It was concluded that Competency-based learning-based Augmented Reality media could be used in learning.

Abstract

Penggunaan model dan media pembelajaran yang kurang tepat menyebabkan peserta didik cenderung pasif dalam proses pembelajaran, sehingga membuat rendahnya hasil belajar peserta didik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menguji keefektifan model pembelajaran Flipped Classroom dengan bantuan media SOFLEN (Song for Learning) terhadap hasil belajar dalam muatan pelajaran IPS. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif eksperimen dengan metode Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah sampling jenuh dengan melibatkan 54 peserta didik, terdiri dari 27 peserta didik di kelas VB (kelompok eksperimen) dan 27 peserta didik di kelas VA (kelompok kontrol). Pengumpulan data dilakukan memalui teknik tes dan observasi. Analisis data meliputi uji prasyarat yang terdiri dari uji normalitas dan homogenitas serta uji hipotesis yang dilakukan melalui uji independent sample T-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa data memiliki distribusi normal dan homogen. Ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Oleh karena itu, Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima. Nilai rata-rata posttest kelas eksperimen adalah 88,89, sedangkan nilai rata-rata kelas kontrol adalah 57,78. Disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran Flipped Classroom berbantuan media SOFLEN (Song for Learning) lebih efektif dibandingkan dengan model pembelajaran konvensional dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar IPS peserta didik.

Abstract

Pembelajaran yang dilaksanakan masih konvensional dan tidak menggunakan media pembelajaran yang bervariasi. Siswa tidak terlibat aktif dalam pembelajaran menyebabkan suasana belajar yang kurang. Ditemukan siswa masih sering mengobrol yang tidak berkaitan dengan pembelajaran, sering  mengganggu temannya, serta sering izin keluar kelas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menciptakan multimedia interaktif berbasis aplikasi adobe flash cs6 pada pembelajaran tematik di kelas V SD. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu research and development (R&D) dengan model pengembangan 4D. Metode yang dipakai untuk mengumpulkan data penelitian adalah observasi, wawancara,  dan kuesioner atau angket. Instrument pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner. Subjek validasi dilakukan oleh beberapa ahli, yakni 2 ahli materi, dan satu orang praktisi atau guru, 1 ahli bahasa 1, ahli media. Subjek uji coba adalah siswa kelas V SD yang berjumlah 22 orang. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil analisis yaitu hasil penilaian dari ahli materi 92% dan ahli bahasa 94% dengan kriteria keduanya sangat baik. Hasil penilaian dari ahli media 81% dengan kriteria baik. Hasil uji coba terhadap siswa di kedua sekolah adalah 92% dan 94% dengan kriteria keduanya adalah sangat baik. Disimpulkan, produk yang dihasilkan layak digunakan pada pembelajaran tematik di kelas V SD.

Abstract

Literature-based instruction is one of the methods that the teacher can used in teaching English to improve student’s four basic skills in English. As a result, this paper aimed to investigate a) to identify the procedures used by teacher in implementing literature-based instruction during distance learning to improve four basic English skills in the classroom at Gandhi Memorial International School, b) to analyze the challenges faced by teacher in implementing literature- based instruction during distance learning at Gandhi Memorial International School. The implementation of Literature-Based Instruction was carried out for Primary International School grade 5 at Gandhi Memorial International School. This study used qualitative research as a research method. The subject of this research was an English teacher in class 5B at Gandhi Memorial International School. Data were collected using an observation checklist and interview guidelines. The result of the data that had been collected from the first question was that the procedure carried out by the teacher is to carry out three stages, namely; pre-activity, whilst activity, and post-activity. Then, the findings for the second research question were that there are three challenges that teachers encountered, namely; time constraints, differentiated instructions, and various assessment rubrics.

Abstract

Utilization of plants as food wrappers is a local wisdom that needs to be preserved. The preservation of traditional knowledge can be done through learning media. This research aims to produce valid learning media and obtain a positive response from students. The research uses Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE development model consisting of 5 stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Data collection was obtained from interviews, observations, and questionnaires. Data were analyzed using a Likert scale questionnaire. Based on the validation results, the development of an ethnobatany-based encyclopedia on wrapping plants of the Malay Tribe in Meliau Sub-district obtained a highly valid assessment from subject matter experts (91.67%), media experts (95.83%), and valid from language experts (79.86%). In the small-scale trial, 14 students responded positively by 76.67%, and in the large-scale trial, 42 students responded positively by 89.80%, based on aspects of content, language, implementation, and appearance. It can be concluded that the Ethnobotany-based Encyclopedia on wrapping plants of the Malay Tribe in Meliau sub-district, developed as a learning media, is highly suitable for use in the learning process and has received a positive response. The successfully developed encyclopedia media contains the morphological characteristics of plants, food products wrapped with them, and QR codes displaying the process of food wrapping using wrapping plants. This encyclopedia media can also serve as a means of preserving the local wisdom of the Malay community in Meliau Sub-district in utilizing plants as eco-friendly food wrappers.

Abstract

Mitigation knowledge is essential, especially for those who live in areas with annual disasters. Therefore, analyzing children's knowledge about mitigation is also necessary because it is the basis for preparing lessons about introducing natural disaster preparedness. This research aims to develop a questionnaire related to natural disaster preparedness based on the cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains. This research is quantitative research using a quantitative descriptive approach. The sampling method used was purposive sampling. The questionnaire development method in this research consists of several stages: itemm preparation, item selection, item sorting, and item validation. The subjects of this research were 5 lecturers, 30 students at the item preparation stage, 2 lecturers and 2 practitioners at the item selection stage, 150 elementary school students at the sorting stage, and 170 elementary school students at the validation stage. The data collection method used is cross-sectional. Then, the questionnaire was created and tested for validity and reliability. The research results show that the developed natural disaster questionnaire for mitigation education meets the requirements for validity and reliability. The research implies that this research can improve disaster mitigation education in schools.

Abstract

Cell Biology is a course whose material is abstract because it cannot be observed with the naked eye. The problem in learning Cell Biology is that no reference books can make abstract material more real to facilitate students' understanding. This research aims to analyze students' needs for Case Study-based interactive Cell Biology textbooks by integrating QR Codes. This research is quantitative and descriptive. The subjects in this research were Biology Education students. Data was obtained through interviews, observations, and questionnaires. Data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive methods. Based on data analysis, 67.6% of students stated that they could only imagine the structures and processes in cells, and 86.5% needed help understanding Cell Biology material. The results of the data analysis also show that all samples agreed to develop teaching materials that integrate QR codes connected to various videos or literature. Based on these results, an interactive cell biology textbook based on case studies needs to be created by further integrating QR codes.
