Abstract

Rice productivity plays a crucial role in global food security, particularly in Indonesia. However, climate change has become one of the biggest challenges faced by various sectors of life, especially agricultural commodities. Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) integrates climate change adaptation and mitigation as well as increasing agricultural productivity through environmentally friendly practices. This study aims to examine the comparison of rice farming productivity between CSA and conventional systems in Kemangkon District, Purbalingga, with a sample size of 48 rice farmers using the CSA system and 48 conventional rice farmers, analyzed using the Independent T-Test method. The results of this study indicate that there are differences in rice productivity between farmers who have used the CSA system compared to conventional systems. The average rice productivity of farmers using CSA technology was 71,07 kw/ha, while rice productivity for farmers using conventional technology was 62,42 kw/ha. Therefore, various comprehensive policies are needed to increase the adoption of CSA technology at the farmer level, such as developing comprehensive training programs on CSA technology and establishing demonstration plots (demplot).

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the subsidized fertilizer program in Gapoktan Gurun Raya, Nagari Gurun, Harau District, Lima Puluh Kota Regency. The focus of the study is the effectiveness of the program based on the principle of 6 Tepat (Quantity, Place, Price, Time, Type, and Quality). The method used is a qualitative approach with primary data collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and structured questionnaires to 40 farmers who are members of 4 farmer groups in Gapoktan Gurun Raya. Secondary data was obtained from the Gapoktan archives and other related sources. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the subsidized fertilizer program in Gapoktan Gurun Raya as a whole is quite effective with an average satisfaction of above 60% in almost all indicators. However, the "Right Place" indicator showed the lowest result (62.5%) which indicates limited accessibility of fertilizer distribution for farmers. In addition, the "Right Time" aspect also still needs to be improved to avoid delays in distribution that can disrupt farmers' planting schedules. Based on these findings, it is recommended to improve coordination between distributors and farmer groups, add distribution points that are easier to reach, and conduct regular evaluations of farmers' fertilizer needs. The results of this study are expected to contribute to improving the implementation of fertilizer subsidy policies in the agricultural sector.

Abstract

This research examines the implementation of circular economy principles in the coffee agribusiness value chain in Bangka Belitung Province. The urgency of this research is driven by the significant volume of coffee waste (approximately 714 tons annually in Bangka Belitung) that threatens environmental sustainability and represents lost economic opportunities. Using a qualitative approach with case study methods, the study identifies strategies for processing coffee waste into value-added products. The results show that utilizing coffee waste can potentially increase farmers' income by up to 35% and reduce organic waste by 60%. The development model based on pentahelix collaboration (farmers, industry, academia, government, and community) is key to successful implementation of circular economy. The research recommends integrating circular economy principles into regional agricultural development policies, strengthening farmers' institutional capacity, and developing appropriate technology for coffee waste utilization. This research offers new insights into creating sustainable agricultural systems through waste management innovation and multi-stakeholder collaboration, addressing the critical gap in circular economy implementation in regional coffee industries.
