Abstract

Obesity in adolescents is very prone to occur due to consumption of fast food, sweet food/drink patterns, likes to play games without knowing the time, and low physical activity. Overnutrition in adolescents is characterized by relatively excessive body weight. The nutritional needs of adolescents are very important, for example, the needs of athletes, so an appropriate training model is needed. Physical activity can burn fat in the body, thereby increasing the body's metabolism. Bodyweight workout is a form of physical activity to maintain body weight. This study aimed to determine the effect of bodyweight workouts on reducing BMI. The study subjects used the Proportionate stratified random sampling technique by taking a sample of 35 male and female university students with a body mass index above 25. The research instrument uses body mass index (BMI) measurements. The data analysis technique used prerequisite tests for normality, homogeneity, and data analysis using SPSS 25. The decreased results were obtained from an average BMI of 27.411 to 25.086, 2.326 or 8.486%. This study concludes the importance of doing bodyweight workouts to reduce BMI in college students.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine how crucial kinesthetic intelligence is in adding to the choreographic creativity of callisthenics preceptors. This exploration system was carried out by experimental exploration styles using quantitative approaches. Purposive sampling was used as a sampling technique. The subjects of this research were 40 licensed aerobics instructors. Data analysis Techniques used Quantitative Analysis Techniques. The instrument used was the TTCT-Verbal Test (Torrance Test of Creative Thinking-Verbal) from Joy Paul Guilford. Data analysis using SPSS statistical software with the Two Way ANOVA Test. The results of this research stated that instructors with high kinesthetic intelligence exhibited no significant effect on choreographic creativity (Sig. 0.961 > 0.05). However, instructors with low kinesthetic intelligence showed an increase in choreographic creativity (Sig. 0.036 < 0.05). The final results showed that low and high levels of kinesthetic intelligence have no influence on choreographic creativity (Sig. 369 > 0.05). These unexpected results challenge existing understanding, offering a new perspective that kinesthetic intelligence is not a crucial thing that can influence choreographic creativity in aerobics teaching. Consequently, the study advises aerobics instructors to enhance their choreography creativity, emphasizing the need to consider not only appropriate training methods but also the physical components conducive to success.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of table tennis forehand drives through multiball exercises. The research method used a pre-experimental design (non-design) in the form of a one-group pretest and posttest design. The research subjects were students of senior hight school 3 Konawe Selatan who were 15 to 18 years old. The subject's body weight varies depending on the characteristics of each individual. However, in this study, body weight was only the main focus if specific aspects related to forehand driveability existed. Height range 150 to 190 cm. So, the number of samples in this study was 20 students who fit the age and height criteria. The instrument used uses a forehand drive test for 30 seconds with a target. Data analysis used description analysis and analysis prerequisite test with data normality test, data homogeneity test, and using t-test. Based on the pretest average score of 19.90 and the posttest average score of 23.35, using a percentage increase of 17.34% using multiball exercises. The data analysis results show a significant increase in the accuracy of the table tennis forehand drive through multiball training. By improving the accuracy of the forehand drive, players can direct the ball more, leading to better scores in competition and encouraging the development of more innovative and creative training approaches in the sport through multiball training, enhancing technical and tactical skills in the game.

Abstract

The research aimed to determine the effect of small-side game training on the passing accuracy of young soccer athletes Farmel Hatta Palembang. The research method used in this study is experimental. The research design used was a pretest-posttest group design. The sampling technique used in this study used all members of the population in a youth soccer team of 40 players. The analysis techniques used are normality tests, homogeneity tests, and paired sample tests using the SPSS program version 26. The result obtained from the normality test (Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test) for the pre-test data was 0.56, and the post-test data was 3.28, so the data obtained from the pre-test and post-test were normal. The homogeneity test results show that the sig p is 0.633>0.05. Then the results of the hypothesis test obtained are t count 10.801 and t table 1.685 (df 39) with a sig (2-tailed) value of 0.000, so that small-sided game practice greatly influences the results of passing accuracy. Based on the research results on the impact of small game training, it fully affects the passing accuracy of young athletes of the FIFA football school Farmel Hatta Palembang.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of cardio and tabata training on reducing body fat and increasing aerobic capacity. This research is an experimental research with a pre and post-control group design. The research sample was split into three groups, each with 9 participants: control group (K1), cardio group (K2), and Tabata group (K3), group division was carried out randomly on research subjects. K1 without any exercise, whereas K2 (cardio) is running and skipping at an intensity of 55% and 70% of one's maximum heart rate. K3 (Tabata) performs burpees and jogging with a 90% – 95% HR maximum intensity. A skinfold calliper was used to quantify body fat, and a 12-minute Cooper test was used to gauge aerobic capacity. The Manova test was employed for data analysis, and a significance threshold 0.05 was used. The result of this study is that K3 had significantly less body fat than K1 and K2, and K2 had significantly less body fat than K1 (p 0.05). Comparing K3 and K2 to K1, aerobic capacity was substantially improved (p 0.05). In conclusion, six weeks of cardio and Tabata training impacted lowering body fat and raising maximum aerobic capacity.

Abstract

Balance is the ability to maintain body position when moving or standing still. Therefore, children must have this ability to move correctly. Children with hearing loss have problems in their vestibular system, consequently disturbing their daily activity concerning balance condition. This study aimed to evaluate the balance of students with hearing impairment in Karanganyar, Central Java. The present survey study used the Balance Test to measure 59 (male = 31, female = 28) hearing-impaired students’ balance. Descriptive statistics analysis was used to calculate the mean of all participants and every gender group. The result revealed that the average balance score of all students was 1,136, the highest score was 4, and the lowest was 1. Concerning gender, females performed slightly better than males on the balance test, with scores of 1,143 and 1,129, respectively. Of the 59 students, more than 90% of females and males were categorized as poor, and more than 3% were classified as moderate and very good. The study suggests that the balance score of hearing-impaired students was low.

Abstract

Improving the ability to kick mawashi geri in karate martial arts requires measured and planned training, namely through hurdle jump training, which is specific to karate martial arts. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of hurdle jump training on the ability to kick mawashi geri in karate martial arts. The research uses quantitative methods with a pre-experimental design through a one-group pre-test post-test design. The sample in this study consisted of 25 students who actively carried out extracurricular activities at Senior High Schools in Southeast Sulawesi Province. The instrument used to measure mawashi geri kick ability in karate martial arts is using mawashi geri kicks for 30 seconds. The training used to improve mawashi geri kicking ability in karate martial arts is using plyometric hurdle jump exercises with low and high jump sequences. The data analysis technique uses quantitative data analysis with probability statistics, using prerequisite data analysis tests with normality and homogeneity tests followed by the t-test at a significance level of 0.05 using SPSS version 26. From the results of the pre-test and post-test data analysis, Mawashi Geri's kicking ability through hurdle jump training has a significance of 0.000 < 0.05, meaning that there is a significant influence between the pre-test and post-test variables on the ability to kick Mawashi Geri in karate martial arts sports. Hurdle jump training can help athletes integrate the strength and control they gain from hurdle jump training in the context of the mawashi geri technique.

Abstract

Serving in a sepak takraw game is one of the important techniques to determine success in the game. However, it needs to be understood that many factors influence the success of the sepak takraw service. This study is focused on examining the association between eye-foot coordination, balance, and the ability to serve in sepak takraw. The research adopts a descriptive approach with a correlational design and involves the entire student population of Gunung Sari II Elementary School in Makassar. Using purposive sampling, a sample of 40 male students was selected for the study. The instruments in this study are eye-foot coordination using the ball bounce test against the wall. Balance using (standing crane), sepak takraw using sepak takraw service test. Data analysis employed both single correlation (r) and multiple correlation (R) at a 95% significance level. The results showed a significance value of 0.000 <0.05, so it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between eye-foot coordination and balance with serving ability in the sepak takraw game. This information can serve as valuable reference material for coaches and physical education instructors when teaching or training sepak takraw.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the differences in coordination skills of children who live in urban and rural areas. This study used a cross-sectional design, and the research subjects were elementary school students aged between 7 - 9 years (N=640; male=320 and female=320) spread across urban and rural areas in West Sumatra Province, Indonesia. Samples were collected through a purposive sampling technique. Coordination data were measured using the Körperkoordinations Test für Kinder (KTK): balance beam, moving sideways, jumping sideways and eye-hand coordination. The data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS statistical program version 25. The analysis results revealed that Urban students had a superior motor coordination average score compared to rural students. Based on the t-test, there was a significant difference in general coordination abilities between urban and rural students (p value< 0.05). The motor coordination skills of students in urban settings are superior to those of students in rural settings, both male and female. It is believed that by having adequate facilities and equipment, schools in Urban have more opportunities to practice coordination both structured and independently. It is recommended to optimize movement coordination training for students in a structured manner in physical education and extracurricular learning at school.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effect of eight-week callisthenics exercises on selected physical fitness qualities and skill performance in U-17 female handball players. The study utilized a quantitative research approach with an experimental design to achieve its goals. For this study, 20 female handball players were selected. The researcher employed a comprehensive sampling technique and randomly divided them into two equal groups: the experimental group (n = 10) and the control group (n = 10). During 8 weeks, the experimental group did callisthenics workouts three times weekly, while the control group stuck to regular handball training. The study assessed passing accuracy, dribbling speed, agility, and muscular strength in both groups before and after. The data collected from the participants were analyzed using SPSS version 24 software, employing paired sample t-tests and independent-sample t-tests with a significance level set at 0.05. The analysis revealed that callisthenics exercises significantly improved passing accuracy, speed dribble, agility, and muscular strength in the pre-post test of the experimental group (p<0.05). However, no significant differences were found in any control group variables (p > 0.05). Based on these findings, the eight-week callisthenics exercise program contributes to enhancing agility, muscular strength, passing accuracy, and speed dribbling in U-17 female handball project players.
