Abstract

This study aims to analyse the contributions of these two dimensions to the development of students' collaborative behaviour and the achievement of deep learning. This study used a quantitative, cross-sectional survey design with 287 elementary school teachers. Data were collected using a 40-item Likert-scale questionnaire and analysed using Pearson's correlation, multiple linear regression, and Baron and Kenny's mediation analysis. The results showed that students' collaborative behaviour was the strongest predictor of deep learning (β = 0.42, p < 0.001) and acted as a significant mediator between the classroom management dimensions and learning outcomes. Environmental and instructional classroom management had a direct influence on deep learning, which was further strengthened through the mediation of collaborative behaviour. The novelty of this study lies in the development of an integrative mediation model that combines environmental and instructional classroom management with collaborative behaviour as the main mechanism for bridging classroom management practices and deep learning. The implications of this research emphasise the need for teachers to design classes that encourage collaboration through group work, directed discussions, and shared responsibility to support meaningful, in-depth learning.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a human resource management model based on ta’dib for Islamic Religious Education teachers in the Smart Society 5.0 era. This study is motivated by the tendency in teacher management within Islamic educational institutions to continue emphasising administrative, technical, and performance aspects while giving inadequate attention to the moral, intellectual, and spiritual formation of teachers. This study employs a qualitative library research design, including document analysis, content analysis, and conceptual synthesis. Primary data are sourced from the works of Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas on ta’dib, adab, science, Islamic education, and the Islamic outlook on life. In contrast, secondary data are obtained from relevant studies on Islamic education management, human resource management, teacher competency, artificial intelligence, and Smart Society 5.0. The results of the study indicate that ta’dib-based human resource management can be structured around five interrelated dimensions: value-oriented teacher recruitment, adab-centred professional development, ethical performance evaluation, knowledge-based organisational culture, and humanistic digital adaptation. The novelty of this study lies in the transformation of ta’dib from a philosophical concept in Islamic education into a conceptual framework for the management of Islamic Religious Education teachers. The implications of this research emphasise that Islamic educational institutions need to manage teachers not only as instructional staff, but also as professional, ethical, spiritual, and digital-humanistic mu'addib figures.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate a model of quality improvement based on Islamic values in higher education institutions. Educational quality in Indonesia faces challenges related to governance, accreditation, graduate relevance, research productivity, and internal quality assurance. Islamic higher education requires a model integrating formal assurance systems with moral, spiritual, and institutional values. This research used a qualitative approach with a phenomenological perspective and a multi-site design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using data reduction, display, conclusion drawing, and within-site and cross-site analysis. The findings show that educational quality is understood holistically as the integration of academic achievement, character formation, spiritual orientation, social responsibility, and accountable governance. Tauhid serves as the foundational value, while amanah, ihsan, justice, syura, istiqamah, and itqan serve as operational principles for leadership, curriculum, services, and quality assurance. The implementation strategy is carried out through SPMI, PPEPP, value-based leadership, curriculum development, services, and evaluation. The study found improvements in academic quality, character formation, governance, professionalism, and quality culture. This study contributes a value-based PPEPP model. Future research is recommended to test this model quantitatively.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how Islamic education management integrates spirituality, local wisdom, and institutional culture to facilitate a transformative recovery process in a faith-based rehabilitation setting. This study employed a qualitative design with a transcendental phenomenological approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. Data were analyzed using NVivo and mapped onto the Transtheoretical Model of Change to capture the gradual dynamics of behavioral transformation. The results indicate that recovery occurs gradually and non-linearly. In the initial stage, local wisdom reflected in Islamic boarding school traditions and communal spiritual practices serves as a non-coercive mechanism for psychological and spiritual stabilization. As participants progress, an institutional culture characterized by relational security, moral role models, and collective discipline supports readiness and active engagement. In the later stages, recovery is sustained through identity reconstruction, spiritual continuity, and long-term relational attachments within the institutional environment. This study contributes by integrating the Transtheoretical Model of Change into Islamic education management and demonstrating how spirituality and local wisdom serve as managerial resources for sustainable recovery. These findings provide theoretical and practical implications in the development of a culturally based, non-punitive, and spiritually grounded educational rehabilitation model.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of teacher recruitment and selection to improve the quality of educators in integrated Islamic schools. This research stems from the gap between formal recruitment policies and actual implementation, particularly regarding recommendation-based recruitment practices and teacher placements that do not fully align with academic competencies. The study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Subjects included principals, vice-principals, and teaching staff. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the recruitment process is implemented through needs analysis, publication of vacancy information, administrative selection, Quran reading tests, and interviews. However, several obstacles remain, such as suboptimal recruitment transparency, incompletely standardized selection procedures, and mismatched teaching placements with expertise. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening transparency, standardizing selection, implementing microteaching, and continuing professional development to produce competent educators aligned with the vision of integrated Islamic education.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a contextual leadership effectiveness framework for State Islamic Senior High Schools (MAN) in Indonesia. The study employed a qualitative multiple-case study approach across three MANs, using semi-structured interviews with madrasah principals and supported by descriptive survey data from teachers and students. The qualitative data were analyzed using thematic analysis and cross-case synthesis, while the survey data were analyzed descriptively. The results identified five leadership competency domains that, through cross-case synthesis, were integrated into four dimensions of leadership effectiveness: instructional leadership, adaptive managerial competency, relational governance, and religious moral authority. The resulting framework enriches the study of educational leadership by incorporating Islamic institutional values and provides a reference for leadership development and policy formulation in Islamic secondary education. This study provides implications for the development of Islamic educational leadership by providing a conceptual and practical framework that can serve as a basis for strengthening madrasah principal competencies, designing contextual leadership training programs, and improving Islamic educational governance that is oriented towards values, trust, and sustainable educational quality.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how local wisdom values are interpreted and practiced in educational supervision and their contribution to teacher competency development in schools. The study used a multi-site qualitative case study design involving 12 participants. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. Data analysis was conducted thematically to identify relational, ethical, cultural, and spiritual patterns in supervisory practices. The results show that supervision is not only understood as an administrative control mechanism but also as a dialogic process built through deliberation, cooperation, trust, respect, and communal solidarity. These values contribute to a more open, reflective, and collaborative professional relationship between teachers, principals, and supervisors. The results of this study expand the study of educational supervision by demonstrating the importance of ethical and relational dimensions based on local wisdom in the practice of supervising educational human resources. This research has implications for educational supervision policies that need to integrate local wisdom values beyond administrative aspects. In school practice, supervision is directed to be dialogic, collaborative, and trust-based. This improves teacher competency holistically by strengthening pedagogical, social, and ethical aspects, thereby creating a more humane and sustainable educational ecosystem.

Abstract

Outcome-Based Education (OBE) is a curriculum approach that emphasises alignment between graduate learning outcomes, the learning process, and assessment. This study aims to analyse the alignment of curriculum implementation with OBE principles at the design and implementation stages. This study used a qualitative evaluative approach to assess the suitability of the OBE-based curriculum. Data were obtained from 25 RPS (Lecture Plans), a survey of 5 study program heads, academic literature, and national policy documents. Qualitative content analysis was conducted to assess the alignment of CPL (Competency Plans), CPMK (Competency Planning), learning activities, and assessments with OBE principles. The results showed that the curriculum at the design stage was generally aligned with OBE principles. However, inconsistencies were still found during implementation, particularly in learning and assessment, which did not fully reflect student-centred learning and authentic assessment. These findings indicate a gap between curriculum planning and implementation. The contribution of this study is to provide empirical evidence regarding the gap in OBE implementation at the study program level. This implies the need to strengthen lecturer competencies through ongoing training and outcome-based curriculum evaluation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze Madrasah Principal Leadership Styles in Enhancing Educational Quality: A Case Study at MTs Pondok Pesantren Nurul Iman Seberang, Jambi. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design to gain an in-depth understanding of leadership practices within their natural context. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation, involving the principal, teachers, and staff as key informants. The data were analyzed using an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the principal implements an integrated leadership style combining transformational, democratic, and spiritual approaches. Transformational leadership is reflected in motivating teachers and encouraging professional development, while democratic leadership fosters participation and collaborative decision-making. Meanwhile, spiritual leadership reinforces moral values and promotes a religious-based organizational culture. This integrated approach contributes significantly to improving educational quality, including enhanced teacher performance, a supportive learning environment, and strengthened character education.
