Abstract

Relational understanding ability is a key skill that affects both the results and processes of learning and is essential for understanding physics subjects, as it helps connect cause and effect of phenomena, including local wisdom such as Timun Mas. Therefore, the aim of this study is to evaluate the feasibility of augmented reality learning media based on Timun Mas as a solution to enhance students' relational understanding of vector material, specifically parabolic motion. The approach method used is ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Feasibility testing was conducted using questionnaires to assess the feasibility of the display and material aspects by practitioners with years of experience in physics and Physics Education students at UNY to evaluate material suitability. The feasibility levels for display, media, and material aspects were calculated using MSI and SBI, with results of 2.548, 2.836, and 2.648, respectively. Therefore, this media is deemed suitable for use as a learning resource.

Abstract

The population for this study were all participants in class X SMA in Anyer. The sample for this study were students of class X-IIS 2 at SMAN in Anyer who were selected using the incidental technique. Assessment of the increase in students' learning interest after the application of the problem base learning model assisted by media tracker in learning activities, is carried out through the provision of questionnaires. The data was obtained after the students answered the questionnaire. The results showed that the application of the problem-based learning model assisted by the media tracker can improve students' literacy skills, especially in terms of interpreting graphs that affect students' learning interests. This is because the application of the problem-based learning model in learning activities causes students to be involved in investigative activities which give them the advantage of acquiring scientific abilities, helping develop students' abilities to conduct experiments and to get used to using experimental facts in deciding solutions to everyday problems.

Abstract

Student responses to learning can be poor if students feel uninterested in the learning media. Therefore, innovations in interactive, technology-based learning media that are easy to understand and engaging are needed to improve student responses. This study aims to assess student responses after implementing Articulate Storyline 3-based learning media. The research uses a descriptive quantitative method with data collection techniques involving a response questionnaire with three indicators and a Likert scale. The study was conducted at SMAN 1 Rogojampi during the even semester of the 2022/2023 academic year. The average percentage of student responses was 86.6%, categorized as very good. The highest percentage was in the cognitive indicator at 91.2%, followed by the affective indicator at 86.8%, and the conative indicator at 81.7%. The average percentage across all indicators was 86.6%, with a very good category.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a STEM-Based Electronic Student Worksheet (E-LKPD) in Physics on the topic of Elasticity and Hooke's Law for Grade XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Sedayu, to determine the feasibility of the E-LKPD, and to assess student responses to the E-LKPD. This research falls under the category of Research and Development (R&D), following a modified version of the development model by Sugiyono, which is adapted into five stages: potential and problems; gathering information; product design; product validation; and product revision. The instruments used include an E-LKPD feasibility assessment questionnaire and a student response questionnaire regarding the E-LKPD. The data analysis techniques employed were the Aiken's V index analysis and descriptive statistics (percentage frequency). The results of this research are as follows: a STEM-based E-LKPD in Physics on the topic of Elasticity and Hooke's Law for Grade XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Sedayu has been developed in Anyflip format; the feasibility of the E-LKPD received a score of 0.93, which falls into the high category; and the student response to the Physics E-LKPD was 83%, which falls into the very high category. It can be concluded that the STEM-based E-LKPD in Physics on the topic of Elasticity and Hooke's Law for Grade XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Sedayu is suitable for use as a teaching material in physics learning.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed instructional methods, including practical activities. This study aims to implement an e-book guide for basic physics experiments on Hooke's Law based on Niteni Nirokke Nambahi for online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research method used is a posttest-only control group design, involving one control class and one experimental class. The research was conducted in the even semester of the 2020/2021 academic year. The classes involved were basic physics courses in the Science Education Program at a private university in Yogyakarta. Data on practical activity were collected through self-assessment questionnaires. Data analysis was performed using descriptive quantitative methods. The results of this study indicate that the practical activities of students in both the experimental and control classes for assembling tools and recording data had the same percentages of 100% and 87.5%, respectively, both categorized as very good. Observation activities in the control and experimental classes were 87.5% and 93.75%, respectively, also categorized as very good. Practical work was able to be conducted independently, even online, despite challenges such as network issues, electricity availability, and practical materials. Future research could continue with other practical activities such as data analysis, drawing conclusions, and communicating results.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect size of implementing problem-based learning (PBL) models on students' Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) and conceptual understanding. Although these higher-order skills are crucial in learning and everyday life, students' understanding in this area remains low. This research employs a meta-analysis method by analyzing 20 articles from various accredited Sinta journals related to the effects of PBL models on students' HOTS and conceptual understanding. The research instrument used is coding, and the data analysis method involves descriptive quantitative analysis with a focus on effect size. The results indicate that the implementation of the PBL model has a positive impact on various student abilities, regardless of educational level and type of skill. Thus, the PBL model has proven to be effective in enhancing students' conceptual mastery and HOTS across different educational levels.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the fact that students' physics learning outcomes have not met the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM). The aim of this research is to determine the effect of applying the Conceptual Understanding Procedures (CUPs) learning model on students' physics learning outcomes. This study uses a quasi-experimental design. The population consists of all Grade VIII students, which includes two classes. Sampling was conducted using saturated sampling. Data analysis techniques were applied to both cognitive and affective domains to test hypotheses with homogeneous and variance conditions. The t-test results show that there is an effect on students' physics learning outcomes using the Conceptual Understanding Procedures (CUPs) learning model.

Abstract

The current implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum is significantly different from previous curricula. The goal of the Merdeka Curriculum is to focus learning more on achieving understanding of knowledge. Regardless of how frequently learning occurs, the essence is that students must grasp physical and mathematical concepts. Therefore, this study aims to describe students' misconceptions about Newton's Laws. Newton's Laws are foundational concepts in studying dynamics of motion in Phase F. The sample for this study consists of 10 Phase F students from a private school in East Nusa Tenggara, who were given a three-tier diagnostic test. The method used is a survey method. The results indicate that overall, for all Newton's Laws concepts, all students exhibited misconceptions. Many students had misconceptions about Newton's first law as well as concepts of deceleration and friction, with a prevalence of 40%.

Abstract

In order for the practicum to still be carried out, alternative practicum learning media are needed. An interactive application based on research of physics phenomena is PhET (Physics Education Technology) simulation. This study aims to determine the level of effectiveness of virtual basic physics practicum and the level of student understanding of basic physics courses through virtual practicum with PhET simulation. Interactive learning and allowing students to practice independently, limited practicum equipment facilities and inadequate laboratory space are the main contributing factors. In order to compare the differences in student learning outcomes between experimental and control courses, this study used a Pre test-Post test Control Group Design with one experimental class or treatment class and one control class to test the difference in student learning outcomes between experimental and control classes using data processing procedures using the True Experiment method. Based on the research, the effectiveness of using PhET simulation application media has an N-gain value of 0.66 and can increase understanding of lecture material by 52%.
