Abstract

The Silo subdistrict is one of the coffee-producing villages, with a production amounting to more than 40% of the total coffee production in Jember Regency. The coffee processing produces coffee husk waste, which is often discarded into the environment and potentially causes pollution. Coffee husk waste has a high calorific value and is suitable for use as biomass fuel to produce syngas through gasification methods. The partner for this community service is GAPOKTAN Suka Maju, located in Pace Village, Silo Subdistrict, Jember Regency. GAPOKTAN Suka Maju is led by Mr. Zainal Arifin, who has 30 members. This community service aims to provide knowledge to GAPOKTAN Suka Maju members about the environmental impact of coffee husk waste disposal and the utilization of coffee husk waste as an energy source through gasification methods. The community service method consists of pre-activities, activity implementation, and evaluation. The pre-activities include designing the gasification equipment, making the gasification equipment, and drying the coffee husk waste. The implementation consists of socializing the environmental impact of coffee husk waste disposal, the energy potential of coffee husk waste, and training in gasification equipment. The results show a significant increase in the participants' understanding of the environmental impact of coffee husk waste disposal, the energy potential of coffee husk waste, and the gasification method and equipment to convert coffee husk waste into fuel.

Abstract

Rumah Jamur Sadam is one of the oyster mushroom producers in Medan Marelan that produces 7-12 kg/day with a capacity of 7,000 baglogs. The oyster mushroom production results are only marketed conventionally. Currently, partners can produce oyster mushroom seeds independently, but increased oyster mushroom production capacity has yet to be supported by increasing partner independence in baglog sterilization. The oyster mushrooms produced need to be diversified, and the marketing strategy for their processed products needs to be improved so that their market as Medan Marelan's leading product can be even more expansive. Based on the results of the analysis and observation, the problems faced by partners include a lack of equipment to support increasing oyster mushroom production capacity, diversification of oyster mushroom processed products that are still lacking in variety, the need for an online product marketing strategy to expand the market for oyster mushroom processed products as Medan Marelan's leading product. The solutions to these problems are introducing technology transfer goods, increasing the diversification of oyster mushroom processed products, and educating oyster mushroom processed product marketing strategies online to expand their market.

Abstract

Teacher professionalism development is one of the strategic steps in improving the quality of education at SMP Negeri 1 Pagerwojo, Tulungagung, East Java. However, limited access to training and a lack of utilization of technology are significant obstacles for teachers, especially in the field of scientific writing. Scientific writing skills are essential in improving teaching skills, developing learning materials, and contributing to educational literature. To solve this problem, this community service activity aims to enhance teachers' skills in scientific writing through training in the use of applications. The training utilizes key features, such as reference management, automatic citation settings, and scientific document management. The training method includes the application installation stage, direct training, and analysis of results through measuring participant responses using a Likert scale. The study showed that the training improved teachers' understanding and skills in utilizing technology to support scientific writing. Most participants responded positively to the training, with a percentage of 77.55%. These results indicate that similar training needs to be further developed to support teacher professionalism, especially in areas with limited access to training.

Abstract

Hative Besar is one of the villages in Teluk Ambon District, Ambon City, which contributes to agricultural production in Ambon. However, a common challenge farmers face during the rainy season is that agricultural lands often become waterlogged, and if the rainfall is intense, many plants rot. Additionally, farmers tend to prefer chemical fertilizers over organic fertilizers, despite the availability of organic waste. This community service aims to educate farmers in Hative Besar village about biopori in reducing the risk of waterlogging and chemical fertilizers. The method used in this service is lectures in the form of socialization and training. The target audience is farmers in Dusun Kamiri, Hative Besar village. Based on the activity results, the level of interest in biopori is very high. Before the activity, participants' knowledge about biopori was only 10%. After attending the socialization and training, the percentage increased to 100%, with a 90% improvement in participants' skills, from not knowing to knowing. This increase in knowledge is expected to help farmers in Hative Besar village reduce excessive water accumulation, which has the potential to damage plant growth, as well as reduce the use of chemical fertilizers.

Abstract

School well-being influences building a good atmosphere in the educational process in the school environment. This community service strives to ensure students achieve good school well-being. This community service uses qualitative methods with structured written and verbal interviews, and psychoeducation is also provided to students. Community Service by providing psychoeducation for students in Ngaliyan District. Namely, students are given material related to improving school well-being with psychoeducation consisting of relaxation, self-efficacy, and assertiveness. The results of this service showed an increase in school well-being in this community service with psychoeducation, which improved the welfare of elementary school students after being given psychoeducation, compared to before being given psychoeducation.

Abstract

The community-based biogas project in Kasembon sub-district focuses on utilising livestock manure as a renewable energy source and organic fertiliser producer to improve community welfare and reduce negative environmental impacts. Through an Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, the project identifies local assets, such as land and manure, and empowers the local community to maintain the biogas system. The biogas production process produces environmentally friendly energy and reduces dependence on LPG. In addition, the organic fertiliser made from biogas waste can be utilised in agriculture to improve productivity and soil health. The implementation of ABCD encourages collaboration between the community, government, and university, and creates new economic opportunities by selling organic fertiliser. However, challenges such as dependence on external assistance, high initial capital requirements, and technical limitations hinder long-term sustainability.

Abstract

This community service activity is carried out to improve the quality of life for the people of Ngebel Village, Ponorogo Regency, by applying appropriate technology in coffee production. Ngebel Village is known as a producer of Wilis coffee, which has great potential but still faces issues in post-harvest processing that are not yet efficient. This activity aims to improve the productivity and quality of Wilis coffee by implementing modern coffee hulling and grinding machines. The methods used in this activity include a functional approach and mentoring, with the application of appropriate technology in the form of coffee hulling and grinding machines specifically designed to enhance production efficiency. Training is conducted to ensure that the BUMDesa managers can operate and maintain the machines properly. After implementing these machines, there is expected to be a significant increase in the efficiency of coffee processing, a reduction in production costs, and an improvement in the quality of Wilis coffee. The community will also acquire new skills in operating post-harvest coffee technology. Additionally, this activity helps improve the competitiveness of Wilis' coffee products in the market. By applying appropriate technology in coffee production at BUMDesa Barokah in Ngebel Village, the main goal of sustainable activity will be achieved: improving the quality and efficiency of coffee production, which contributes to the economic well-being of the local community.

Abstract

Agile development ensures quality software is on time and according to user expectations. Therefore, software testing is essential before launch, including usability testing as part of the user experience. However, the many choices of questionnaires in usability testing make it difficult for developers to determine the appropriate method. This community service is a training activity that aims to improve the understanding of students and the general public, especially those involved in software development related to usability testing. The training is conducted face-to-face with counseling, namely interactive lectures, discussions, case studies, and quizzes. The training materials include an introduction to software quality and usability evaluation, respondent selection techniques, an introduction to types of usability questionnaires, and exercises in calculating and interpreting usability scores using the Usability Metric for User Experience (UMUX-Lite) questionnaire. The training results showed that the level of understanding was still low (31.07%); this result was due to several obstacles, namely the imbalance in the number of participants and facilitators, the relatively short discussion time, and not all participants being active in the activities. The strategy for future improvements is to conduct remedial sessions, re-evaluate learning methods and media, and divide participants into small groups with adequate training facilitators.

Abstract

The halalness of food products is an important concern for the Muslim community, especially for guardians who are responsible for their children's consumption. Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) has provided a halal certification checking facility through the MUI Halal website and application. However, many people still do not understand how to use it, so socialization is needed to increase awareness in choosing halal products. The purpose is to improve the understanding and skills of Sartika Kindergarten, Ketintang Surabaya guardians in checking the halal certification of food and beverage products through the MUI Halal website and application. Socialization is expected to help students' parents make decisions about purchasing halal products so that they are more focused and in accordance with Islamic law. The Activity Implementation Method is carried out through three stages: (1) coordination with the school, (2) socialization and training in the use of the MUI Halal website and application, and (3) evaluation by filling out a questionnaire. The results of this Socialization Activity significantly increased the participants' understanding. Before the activity, three respondents agreed to check the halal certification before buying a product, while after the socialization and training, there was an increase in the number of respondents who answered strongly agree, namely 18 respondents. This shows the effectiveness of socialization in increasing awareness and purchasing decisions for halal products.

Abstract

Gampong Lampulo in Banda Aceh has excellent potential as a fish trading hub, particularly for skipjack tuna (Euthynnus affinis), a commodity of high economic value. However, skipjack tuna is highly perishable and often results in significant waste during peak harvest due to limitations in processing and packaging facilities. This community service program aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of local fishermen in processing skipjack tuna into value-added products that can improve their economy. The methodology applied includes training sessions consisting of lectures, group discussions, demonstrations, hands-on practice, and the introduction of appropriate technologies such as solar dryers, oil presses, liquid smoke as a preservative, and hand sealers for hygienic and attractive packaging. The results of this activity show that participants experienced significant improvement in practical skills, enabling them to produce processed products such as shredded fish (abon), smoked fish, and keumamah. This program successfully reduced post-harvest waste, extended product shelf life, and increased the market value of local fishery products. In conclusion, the program empowered fishermen with efficient and sustainable processing techniques and opened opportunities for them to expand their market. However, further assistance in marketing strategies, packaging design, and obtaining product certifications is needed.
