Abstract

Public speaking is vital for young entrepreneurs to express ideas confidently and clearly. However, many students lack this ability due to limited access to practical training. This program aimed to improve the communication skills of student organization members through practice-based public speaking training. The two-day training was held at the Nahdlatul Ulama Hall in Bekasi City and involved 30 Indonesian Islamic Student Movement participants. The method included lectures, discussions, and business presentation simulations. Evaluation results significantly improved confidence, message structure, and vocal techniques. Participants also expressed greater interest in developing their business ideas. The activity demonstrated that contextual and hands-on training effectively enhances students' communication skills. This program has strong potential to be replicated as a model for empowering youth organizations in developing community-based young entrepreneurs.

Abstract

Adolescents' limited understanding of reproductive health can lead to long-term health risks. This community service activity, organized by the Faculty of Medicine at Universitas Muhammadiyah Palangkaraya in collaboration with the Kereng Bangkirai Health Center, aimed to improve reproductive health literacy among adolescents through education and health screening. The program involved 33 second-semester medical students and included a pretest, interactive seminar, posttest, and health examinations covering vital signs, body mass index, blood glucose, and HBsAg screening. Findings revealed that 27.3% of participants were overweight, 18.2% were prehypertensive, and 15.2% had elevated random blood glucose, while all tested negative for hepatitis B. The average knowledge score increased from 89.9% to 91.5%, with the most significant gains in understanding menstruation and nocturnal emission. These results highlight the effectiveness of campus-based educational interventions and the need to promote healthy lifestyles early on. The activity also emphasizes the role of medical students as change agents in disseminating reproductive health knowledge in the community.

Abstract

The Bagas Waras Women's Farmers Group (KWT) is one of the women's groups that cultivates a lot of TOGA in Banyuanyar Village, Boyolali. Their seriousness in cultivating TOGA is proven by the establishment of Omah TOGA, which has become an educational tourism destination. KWT members also have high enthusiasm for developing TOGA's potential and have produced many processed food products from TOGA. KWT Bagas Waras needs innovations in TOGA products, namely traditional cosmetic products. The service team provides scientific insight through training on developing traditional cosmetic products, namely body scrubs made from various types of TOGA. This activity involves 40 KWT members who will participate in a series of stages: preparation, training, practice, and evaluation. This training activity can increase the scientific insight of KWT members and help them develop traditional body scrubs made from TOGA and good packaging methods. This training has gone well, with all participants very enthusiastically listening to material related to traditional cosmetics and demonstrating how to make body scrubs. The results obtained are traditional body scrubs with various variants originating from TOGA.

Abstract

The Sebulu Bridge Construction Project in Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan, aims to enhance interregional connectivity and facilitate the mobility of people and logistics distribution. This community service activity has two main objectives: to understand the methods of implementing Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) in the construction project, and to identify potential hazards that may cause work accidents through a hazard identification approach. The methods used in this activity include direct field observation, interviews with project implementers, and hazard analysis based on the types of work performed. The results indicate that the highest risks originate from working at heights, operating heavy equipment, and exposure to hazardous materials. OHS implementation measures include using personal protective equipment (PPE), periodic safety training, and intensive supervision at the project site. The discussion reveals that while the implementation of OHS has been relatively effective, there are still challenges related to worker discipline and limited supervisory resources. Therefore, increased supervision, stricter enforcement of OHS regulations, and regular evaluations are required to improve the effectiveness of safety systems on site.

Abstract

The Independent Curriculum is a framework established and implemented since the 2022/2023 academic year through the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Number 56/M/2022 concerning Guidelines for Curriculum Implementation. Implementing the Independent Curriculum significantly affects various aspects, especially selecting appropriate learning media. Based on the results of interviews and findings from field observations, many teachers have not made maximum use of existing technology in the learning process. Creative teachers need to develop interesting learning media for students because the independent curriculum is closely related to innovation. This community service activity aims to effectively train teachers at SMPN 1 Mempura, Siak Regency, to implement media-based learning according to the Independent Curriculum. The methods used in this service include socialization and guidance in designing and utilizing iSpring Suite media. The process consists of five stages: analysis, preparation, implementation, mentoring, and evaluation. The participants included 15 teachers at SMPN 1 Mempura, Siak Regency. The output of this activity was assessed through improvements in pretest and posttest results, as well as satisfaction surveys. The findings showed that 1) participants' knowledge increased by 39%, with an average pretest score of 61 and an average posttest score of 85, and 2) the results of the satisfaction survey showed that 93% of participants gave a positive response by categorizing their responses as very good.

Abstract

Climbing Perch (Anabas testudineus Bloch) is a freshwater fish that inhabits swamps, rivers, lakes, and other water bodies. Some communities have begun cultivating climbing perch but still lack information on breeding techniques, leading to reliance on wild-caught fry. This community service activity, conducted by the Fisheries Department of the University of Palangka Raya in collaboration with the Tabiku Village Government, was to provide training on climbing perch breeding. This initiative aimed to encourage the community to engage in climbing perch hatchery businesses and improve the quality of climbing perch fry. The method used in this community service program was a participatory approach to climbing perch breeding. This included socialization, theoretical sessions on hatchery techniques, and hands-on training in various breeding activities. These activities covered fish spawning techniques, pond preparation, broodstock selection, spawning process, feeding, and fry harvesting. Five pairs of broodstock were used with a male-to-female ratio of 3:1. As a result of this program, approximately 25.000 eggs were produced, with an 85% hatching rate. The fertilization rate of papuyu fish eggs was 78%, resulting in 16.575 larvae. During the rearing period, 1.320 fry measuring 3–5 cm were obtained using a 4x6 meter tarpaulin pond. To improve the survival rate of climbing perch fry, increasing the number of nursery ponds for better fry development is recommended.
