Abstract

The Prosendi Desa is conducted in the Tegal Besar Village, Kaliwates Sub-district, Jember Regency. It holds substantial potential for developing the halal industry towards achieving the Halal Industry Indonesia 2024. This initiative takes place in the administrative city, primarily due to the heightened concern of MSB operators regarding business legality and halal certification, compared to rural areas in other sub-districts of the Jember Regency. The PRA approach aims to enhance the knowledge of business operators and village government advocates. The Implementation Team, as facilitators, provides direct information, socialization, counseling, and assistance to MSB operators to obtain business legality through the Business Identification Number (NIB) and Halal Certification. The proposed solution consists of two phases/years. The first year encompasses The addition of 10 NIBs for MSB operators as identification, The establishment of a "Halal Clinic" at the Village Office for consultations related to products and supply chains of MSBs in the food sector, and Monthly socialization and the publication of a journal indexed in SINTA 4 regarding the "urgency of the village halal clinic in realizing the Halal Industry Indonesia 2024." The second year includes The development of a guidebook or SOP for "self-declaration" halal certification for MSB operators, Assistance in registering halal certification on the sihalal.com website, Support for MSB operators in field verification and document revision, and Monitoring the document flow until the issuance of the halal certificate.

Abstract

This activity is a community service carried out by UMKT Civil Engineering students who are integrated with UMKT Civil Engineering Lecturers for two months. The collaboration carried out by students with industry partners in the weighing-bridge construction project showed an essential contribution to the integration of actual and theory. The focus of this community service activity is the implementation of work methods on bored pile foundation work. Student activities include direct observation, interviews, and comparative theory analysis with field practice. The activity results focus on Standard Penetration Test (SPT) soil testing data, determining weighing-bridge bored pile points, and implementation methods. Through this activity, students and lecturers play an active role in providing accurate contributions to industrial partners in ensuring the efficiency and quality of the implementation of bored pile foundations. Thus, this activity not only provides solutions to problems faced by industrial partners but also serves as a direct learning medium for students. This emphasizes the importance of an interdisciplinary approach that combines science, technology, practical expertise, and academic theory in planning bored pile foundations for weighbridges.

Abstract

Repeated use of cooking oil produces waste in the form of waste cooking oil. Apart from being dangerous for health, waste cooking oil is also dangerous for the environment. To overcome this, waste cooking oil might be used for other harmless side products such as soap. To meet the soap standard, the waste oil must be reprocessed. Training on making soap from waste cooking oil has never been carried out before in the Pekan Nenas Pontian, Johor Bahru, Malaysia, so this service activity focuses on introducing, training, and implementing bar soap making from waste cooking oil to the community in the Pekan Nenas Pontian, Johor Bahru, Malaysia, as an effort to reduce waste cooking oil. The counseling webinar was held boldly on June 24, 2023. Meanwhile, soap-making training was held at Pekan Nenas Pontian on August 5, 2023. Soap quality testing was conducted at the Biochemistry Laboratory, State University of Jakarta, in September 2023. This activity used the active participation strategy method. The data obtained is in the form of social data, namely pre-test and post-test results, and scientific data in the form of soap quality tests, which are compared with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) for solid soap, including pH tests, water content tests, foam height, and stability tests. Community knowledge has increased, as shown by the post-test score having an average of more than 60, namely 75, and the highest score is 90. This community service activity was a success.

Abstract

The percentage of the elderly population in RW 01, Cipadu Village, has increased, indicating that in 2023, this area has entered the era of an aging population, where the percentage of the population aged 60 and above is almost reaching 10% or more. The purpose of this community service is to raise awareness among the community about a healthy lifestyle to prevent non-communicable diseases, to practice the preparation of healthy drinks, and early detection of health status through anthropometry and stick test methods. The methods used in this community service include counseling with the theme "Optimizing the Health and Nutrition of the Elderly," practical measurement of nutritional status, screening for Non-Communicable Diseases using the stick test method, followed by guidance and monitoring of older people. There has been a 21.1% increase in knowledge about balanced nutrition for older people and the preparation of healthy drinks. Screening for nutritional status shows that 37.3% are obese. Health checks indicate that out of 51 people, 78.4% have high blood pressure, 66,7% have high cholesterol levels, 43,1% have high uric acid levels, and 5.8% have diabetes. Assistance for one month on adopting a healthy lifestyle, including getting used to new healthy drinks, has reduced weight and blood pressure, but blood sugar and cholesterol have not consistently improved. Practicing a healthy lifestyle with assistance has not optimally achieved a healthy status. Therefore, periodic education on elderly nutrition and early detection is necessary to maintain and monitor healthy lifestyles.
