Abstract

Vector-borne diseases are influenced by physical, biological, and socio-cultural environmental conditions. Residents of Pahandut Village were chosen as the subjects of service because part of Pahandut Village is located on the edge of the Kahayan River. Therefore, a lot of rubbish carried by the river flows under people's stilt houses and becomes a habitat for mosquitoes, flies, and cockroaches which can transmit diseases to people. Disease vectors can be prevented by keeping the floors of the house clean by using natural ingredients such as lemongrass. Community service activities are expected to increase public knowledge regarding diseases caused by zoonotic vectors, recognize disease-causing insects in the environment, prevent disease vectors, and skills in making lemongrass carbol. Community service participants' knowledge increased as shown by the evaluation of pre-test and post-test scores. Community service participants were 15 people from the Pahandut sub-district with a pre-test average of 36% and a post-test average of 100%. A comparison of the pre-test and post-test scores shows that there is an increase in knowledge after the service activities are carried out. In conclusion, education about preventing disease vectors and the practical production of lemongrass carbole can increase community knowledge and skills in preventing disease vectors.

Abstract

In this era of globalization, there are many developments and reforms in the field of education. The demands of 21st-century skills encourage teachers to innovate in learning. This aims to provide the best service for students and also as an effort to optimize the potential possessed by students. For this reason, teachers at SMP Negeri 6 Garut tried to improve their knowledge and insights about innovative learning. This community service aims to provide training on how to design innovative learning for teachers at SMP Negeri 6 Garut. Implementing this community service activity uses lecture and practice methods using concrete and interactive learning media (ICT-based). The service team visiting SMP Negeri 6 Garut carried out the lecture method, which provided material on innovative learning and the use of technology in learning. This community service results in teachers at SMP Negeri 6 Garut understanding the concept of innovative learning and making innovations in learning.

Abstract

The incidence of scabies and factors of clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS) in Islamic boarding schools are still a problem. Therefore, community service activities (PKM) try an innovative approach with assistance in increasing the PHBS of students and pesantren administrators using the problem-based learning (PBL) method at the Ar Roshifah Islamic boarding school, Leuwisari sub-district, and Tasikmalaya district are expected to find a solution. In stage 1 of the PKM activity, physical examination of all of the administrators and students, most types of diseases are found, which are then used as a topic of discussion in stage 2—introducing clean and healthy living behaviors with the (PBL) method. This method uses problems as learning stimuli. There is group work for interaction (students and teachers are divided into small groups of 10-12 people) and the PKM team as tutors and facilitators. In conclusion, at the end of the activity, the students and administrators learn about scabies, starting from the etiology, risk factors, symptoms, methods of treatment, and prevention independently. They find out until they understand the roots of existing health problems and are expected to have an impact on daily life towards personal health and the environment to avoid scabies.

Abstract

At the Amanah 'Aisyiyah Palangka Raya Cooperative, several problems were encountered. So, a Final Annual Meeting was held as a means of obtaining solutions to each problem. The meeting was attended by all cooperative members and UMS KKN-dik students. Through this activity, KKN-dik students become aware of the various problems faced by the community in the cooperative. So, through this discussion forum, students try to help provide solutions related to the problems they face using the mediation method. This is done by students as a form of community service. Apart from that, community service activities were also carried out in the form of recitations using community education methods that took advantage of the momentum of the Isra Mi'raj. This activity involved collaboration with the Aisyiyah Regional Leadership and was attended by all Aisyiyah members. Apart from the aim of commemorating Isra Mi'raj, the recitation was carried out to study in more depth the history, benefits and sins of leaving prayer. So the hope is that all listeners of the study will pray better. The importance of the two types of community service activities that have been carried out are improving the welfare and improving the physical condition of the community through the Amanah 'Aisyiyah Cooperative which provides opportunities for residents who want to dedicate themselves in the way of Allah through a community that is guided by the Koran and helps the economy of cooperative members. It is hoped that these two activities will have a positive impact on society.

Abstract

Literacy culture is closely related to formal and informal education. Schools have a very important role in instilling a culture of reading and writing in students. Mading can be one way to increase the cultivation of literacy culture. This activity uses a participatory approach that requires the involvement of junior high school students Muhammadiyah Palangkaraya in holding a wall magazine competition. The results of this research are that students at Palangka Raya Muhammadiyah Middle School are enthusiastic about taking part in the existing media competitions, meaning that students need a lighter to be able to make media, which is expected to be the beginning of students' interest in the world of literacy. The main problem with the lack of running of the Mading at Palangka Raya Muhammadiyah Middle School is caused by the lack of motivation in managing the Mading at Palangka Raya Muhammadiyah Middle School, either from teachers or student organizations such as the IPM.

Abstract

The distribution of zakat to ultra-micro (UMi) business actors, such as Mustahik (people entitled to receive zakat), faces the problem of limited assistance. The Community Service (P2M) aims to minimize failures in the distribution of zakat and ensure that it is used for productive, sustainable, and on-target businesses. The next goal is to increase the quantity and quality of UMi management. The methods used are training, follow-up assistance, monitoring, and evaluation. Partners are UMi actors who receive zakat from the Baitulmal Ummat Islam Foundation Bank Negara Indonesia (BAMUIS BNI). The result of P2M is that previously, there was no assistance in the zakat distribution model. The positive impact is that this assistance increases the accuracy of targeting zakat recipients from the UMi group. This is based on qualitative analysis from the results of interviews with UMi and BAMUIS BNI. The increase in targeting indicates that the Mustahik from UMi are based on recommendations from indigent letters from neighborhood and citizen associations, so they are not concentrated in just a few families, as was the case previously. Another improvement in the distribution model is the absence of brokers, which is often found, unavoidably, without assistance. Another significant impact is that Mustahik receives 100% of the zakat funds directly to the account concerned without any deductions. The mentoring model also equips UMi with various skills training and consultations needed daily to run a business in the era of digital competition. The training includes marketing management, halal production, hygiene, occupational health, and safety.

Abstract

Writing scientific papers is a valuable skill that students must possess. However, most students continue to face challenges while writing scientific papers, such as a lack of knowledge of concepts and organization, difficulties articulating ideas in writing, and a lack of drive and interest. To address this, students at Madrasah Aliyah Tarbiyatus Shibyan Lamongan participated in community service activities to strengthen their scientific writing skills. This activity, which consisted of three parts (introduction, mentorship, and evaluation), improved students' understanding, skills, and motivation to write scientific papers. Time constraints are an impediment, thus schools should incorporate scientific writing development into the curriculum or extracurricular activities.

Abstract

Marriage at an early age is a phenomenon that is still happening in the Long Sand Village, the Eastern Mempawah district, the district of Mempawha, and areas with low educational and economic levels. Early marriages have a wide range of negative effects, both in terms of health, psychology, and society. Lack of legal understanding of the age limit for marriage and its legal consequences are often the main cause. Therefore, increased legal awareness in society has become crucial to reducing the number of early marriages. This dedication is aimed at raising public awareness and understanding of the law relating to marriage at an early age, as well as providing education on the negative impact of early marriage and the importance of postponing marriage to a more mature age. The dedication takes place through several stages, namely an initial survey to measure the level of public understanding, socialization, and education through workshops, and targeted group discussions. In addition, legal support services and advice are provided for families vulnerable to early marriage. The activity has been successful in raising awareness and understanding of the law amongst the public, especially regarding the age limit for marriage and the negative impact of early marriage. The active participation of adolescents and parents in the discussion indicates a change in attitude and increased commitment to postponing early marriages. Evaluations through post-activity questionnaires show a significant improvement in legal understanding and awareness of the importance of education and self-development for adolescents.

Abstract

This service is motivated by the fact that Kalijaya Village, Banjaranyar District, Ciamis Regency, is one of the potential spice-producing areas, one of which is nutmeg. This condition is not optimally utilized by the Kalijaya Village Community, especially for those who work as nutmeg farmers, where nutmeg farmers like to throw away the nutmeg meat and make it waste after taking the seeds and nutmeg pulp, even though nutmeg meat is the largest component of fresh nutmeg compared to mace, seed shell, and seed meat. Optimal utilization of nutmeg meat through diversification of nutmeg processed products such as candied nutmeg, nutmeg syrup, nutmeg candy, and many others can increase income and provide multiple benefits for nutmeg farmers in Kaijaya Village. This condition is due to the lack of understanding and skills possessed by the Kaljaya Village Community. The purpose of this service is to provide solutions for optimizing the yield of nutmeg. One of the alternatives given in solving this problem is to conduct training related to the Utilization of Nutmeg Fruit in High-Value Sweets. The method of implementing this Community Service activity is in the form of counseling, and training/practice. The service participants consisted of nutmeg farmers and members of the Kaijaya Village PKK because most of the nutmeg farmers were PKK members. The result of this service is the existence of candied nutmeg products sourced from the utilization of nutmeg meat defect waste/waste making it a new business opportunity as an additional source of income.

Abstract

A village profile is a comprehensive description of the village's character, in the form of basic data: natural resources, human resources, institutions, facilities, and infrastructure as well as village developments and problems. Until early 2024, this Community Service (PKM) is aimed at assisting in preparing village profiles by updating data and information on the character of Ifar Besar village. The method chosen is assistance in updating data based on basic data about natural resources, human resources, institutions, facilities, and infrastructure as well as institutions. PKM assistance in preparing the profile of Ifar Besar village is; first, compiling data on village potential and problems; second, updating data on village potential and problems to determine village development policies according to future needs. The results of assistance with the profile of the Ifar Besar village, in the form of a village profile compilation completed with thematic maps, tables, and diagrams, has been a success as indicated by an increase in the knowledge of village officials in updating data assisted by students who are doing Community Service Program. Based on the results of interviews with 20 participants, 17 participants (85%) stated that their understanding and skills had increased regarding collecting and processing village data. Furthermore, 18 participants (90%) considered that the resulting village profile was very useful for planning sustainable development in the future. Indirectly, this success also shows that the obstacles faced by Ifar Besar Village are not only human resources but also financial support as well as facilities and infrastructure.
