Abstract

This research is motivated by the absence of a learning module in the Culinary and Tourism Industry courses in the culinary study program, Medan State University. The purpose of this study was to see the process of developing modules for the Culinary and Tourism Industry subject matter, to determine the validity of the Culinary and Tourism Industry modules, to determine the practicality of the Culinary and Tourism Industry modules. The research method used in this research is the development method. The stages carried out in the development method are define, design, develop, and disseminate. The research instrument was in the form of a questionnaire that was distributed to research respondents, namely students and lecturers. The results of the study the validity of the learning module were declared valid from three aspects, namely format, content and language. The practicality of the culinary and tourism industry modules can be seen from the implementation of the use of learning modules. The result of module effectiveness assessment is very practical with a percentage of 84.06% of student responses and 77.083% with practical categories of lecturer responses. The effectiveness of the module is seen from the acquisition of students' pretest and posttest scores. Then analyzed the value of the increase through analysis of the gain score data. The gain score is 0.64 in the medium category.This research is limited to defining, designing and developing modules to obtain valid, practical and effective modules for student use. This research produces a product in the form of a learning module that can support the achievement of learning objectives in culinary and tourism courses

Abstract

One of the problems in the company is my resource limitation, the time of production and the tools used in the production process. Companies in making decisions in production planning in the presence of these limitations, should seek to maximize the profit generated. However, in the production process a production planning reference is required to maximize the results obtained and minimize the production costs used. To solve the problem, needed a problem solving tool that is linear program using simplex method. Simplex method is one of the methods of linear program in solving the problem of more than two variables that can be applied into everyday life and can be used in production process planning. With one of the ultimate goal is the achievement of the optimum value with the constraints of limited resources. The results of the simplex method have decreased costs incurred less than the usual costs incurred every month and the results obtained using the simplex method can be used as a reference in making decisions to get optimal results on production costs in the company.

Abstract

This Community Service Program has been implemented well. Partners of this activity are Artiar Bakkery, Pintusona Village and Martauli Elisabet Household Business in Pinsona Village, Pangururan District, Samosir Regency, North Sumatra Province. The purpose of this PKM is to solve several problems faced by partners. In this service activity the implementation team tries to create a creative and innovative idea to provide added value to the cassava chip household business through improving product quality, namely by providing counseling and training on the application of science and technology. One of them is by changing the way of production by using modern equipment so that production capacity increases. Marketing of cassava chips with safe and attractive packaging so as to increase the selling price and expand the marketing area through online marketing. With this PKM activity it can improve partners' lives financially and partner products can be accepted in the market so that they can compete with similar products in the market.

Abstract

Because the skills of speaking English as a foreign language (EFL) in Indonesia are still concern and less than maximal, even becoming a phenomenon to date. This study choose storytelling as a learning techniques to facilitate students to increase speaking skills in English learning. So, this study aims to see the success of storytelling techniques in learning foreign languages, and increased skills to speak English students at the grades 6 elementary school. There is an average value (mean score) of student learning outcomes of each aspect are as follows: vocabulary aspects of 17.5, the aspect of pronunciation of 17.3, aspects of smoothness of 16.7, aspects of the structure of 16.7, and the meaning aspects of 17.9. Of the overall average value on every aspect, students can be said to almost reach the highest score, namely 20 on the assessment criteria for each aspect. The findings of this study showed storytelling is a technique that is worthy of being used as a technique or approach to foreign language learning. The storytelling can spur students' interest in talking The storytelling managed to facilitate students to increase speaking skills in learning English as a foreign language (EFL).,Students also provide a good response to this storytelling activity. Then, there is the increase in the speaking skills of elementary school students achieve very satisfactory value, which is 40% of students get a score of 97 for the highest value, and only 10% with a score of 62 for the lowest value. This study uses a direct method in storytelling activities. For data collection, this study uses qualitative and quantitative methods for data analysis.

Abstract

Reflective journals could encourage students to develop the habit of writing regularly and hone students' critical thinking skills since they will start investigating their explanation and put all of the ideas into writing in their own words.This study was aimed to determine the types of errors written by an EFL student in her reflective journal writing on her blog account,the manner in which the EFL student generated errors, and the sensible reasons that affected the EFL student in producing her reflective journal writing errors. This study was classified as a qualitative content analysis. The data for this research came from ten reflective journal entries by an EFL student on her blogging account. Purposive sampling was used to collect the data. Furthermore, the researcher discovered five distinct sorts of errors in an EFL student's reflective journal writing on her online blogging platform. They included errors in time, omission errors, insertion errors, parts of speech errors, and other errors. Basically, the average number of errors actually happened unintentionally; the EFL student committed errors by omitting, adding, and disordering certain words while constructing sentences. Numerous variables contributed to the incidence of errors, including interlingua and intralingua transfer, a lack of vocabulary, and the use of ineffective translation methods.

Abstract

Desa Ciemas merupakan salah satu dari beberapa desa di Kecamatan Ciemas yang merupakan wilayah penggerak perekonomian Kabupaten Sukabumi pada sektor pariwisata. Dinas Pariwisata setempat mencatat bahwa sekitar 6.000 wisatawan baik domestik maupun mancanegara berkunjung setiap tahunnya.. Jumlah wisatawan ini sebenarnya masih terbilang rendah jika dilihat dari potensi sumber daya alam yang ada. Hasil wawancara dengan salah satu pemangku kepentingan di pemerintah daerah Sukabumi menemukan bahwa sedikitnya ada tiga masalah yang dihadapi oleh Desa Ciemas dalam meningkatkan kunjungan wisatawan lokal dan mancanegara, yaitu (1) belum adanya upaya pemberdayaan sumber daya masyarakat generasi milenial; (2) keterbatasan kemampuan berbahasa Inggris; (3) pengelolaan teknologi informasti yang belum tepat sasaran. Maka program pengabdian kepada masyarakat dalam bentuk pemberdayaan generasi milenial melalui pelatihan Copy Writing dan Travel Writing penting dilaksanakan guna mempromosikan paiwisata di Desa Ciemas kepada masyarakat dunia. Dengan metode pelatihan berbasis blended learning, pengabdian ini berhasil meningkatkan kemampuan milenial dalam (1) kemampuan Copy Writing dan Travel Writing dalam mempromosikan pariwisata di Desa Ciemas melalui media sosial yang mereka miliki; dan (2) kemampuan untuk mengoperasikan aplikasi digital untuk mempromosikan tempat wisata di Desa Ciemas.

Abstract

Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) ini bertujuan memberikan pelatihan bahasa Inggris dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Scaffolding dengan teknik Peer Tutoring. Model dan teknik tersebut secara teori mampu memotivasi siswa dalam mengikuti pembelajaran bahasa Inggris baik secara langsung maupun dalam jaringan dengan baik. Kegiatan PkM ini dimulai dengan pra-survey/observasi pada bulan Maret 2021 dengan melakukan wawancara kepada pihak sekolah yaitu guru bahasa Inggris dan beberapa siswa di SMP Muhammadiyah Serpong mengenai kondisi dan kebutuhan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris selama pembelajaran dalam jaringan. Setelah mendapat masukan, kegiatan PkM dengan menggunakan scaffolding dan peer tutoring dilaksanakan. Hasil PkM menunjukkan adanya peningkatan motivasi dan antusiasme siswa dalam belajar bahasa Inggris baik secara langsung maupun dalam jaringan sehingga diharapkan bisa menjadi salah satu referensi untuk pendidik dalam menciptakan atmosfer baru dalam pembelajaran baik secara langsung maupun dalam jaringan khususnya mata pelajaran bahasa Inggris sehingga terciptanya kelas yang kondusif dan tercapainya tujuan pembelajaran dengan maksimal.

Abstract

Education is vital in any type of society for the conservation of lives. The existence of education is closely related to the contribution of technology. The growing influences of technologies on all aspects of life require the education sector to follow and adopt technology in its systems. One of them is online learning. This study explores the students’ attitude towards the utilization of e-learning in Universitas Pembinaan Masyarakat Indonesia students especially in Teacher Training and Education Faculty with two study programs namely English Education Study Program and Physical Education, Health and Recreation Study Program. By knowing their attitude then their learning can be fostered by training flipped classroom learning.  The data collection method used was questionnaire distributed to all students of Teacher Training and Education Faculty batch of 2019 by purposive sampling. The findings reveal that technology-related factors (ease of use, speed accessibility and service delivery), internal factors (attitudes of the users) and teacher factors influence the students’attitude toward the use of e-learning. By providing the training, the students increased their motivation and academic performance in online learning. The study could provide the opportunity of assisting the students to use e-learning facilities regularly.

Abstract

Sekolah sebagai lembaga pengembangan Sumber Daya Manusia dituntut untuk mampu menghasilkan output SDM yang berkualitas, maka penyelenggaraan pendidikan di sekolah harus punya orientasi pada kualitas. Lemahnya kompetensi guru Bahasa Perancis di SMK Negeri 1 Berastagi dalam mengelaborasi pengembangan bahan ajar dengan pemanfaatan aplikasi digital serta rendahnya minat belajar siswa dalam mengerjakan tugas-tugas terstruktur secara virtual di masa Pandemi Covid 19 menjadi hambatan dalam mencapai tujuan pembelajaran. Kegiatan Program Kemitraan Masyarakat (PkM) ini bertujuan memberikan penguatan kompetensi guru Bahasa Perancis dan pendampingan penyusunan bahan ajar berbasis digital untuk menciptakan suasana belajar yang bervariasi sebagai pemantik semangat siswa dalam mempelajari Bahasa Perancis serta memastikan penyelenggaraan proses belajar mengajar (PBM) secara daring dapat berjalan dengan maksimal. Kegiatan PkM penguatan kompetensi guru Bahasa Perancis dalam menyusun bahan ajar berbasis digital dimulai dengan melakukan pemetaan masalah melalui analisis situasi mitra, menentukan strategi pemecahan masalah dengan melakukan pendampingan penyusunan bahan ajar berbasis digital berbantuan software FLIPHTML5, serta monitoring dan evaluasi dari seluruh rangkaian pelaksanaan kegiatan. Kegiatan ini menghasilkan luaran berupa bahan ajar Bahasa Perancis untuk SMK berbasis digital yang memuat materi ajar yang disusun berdasarkan silabus mengacu kurikulum 2013 dan berisi konten pembelajaran berupa gambar, musik, video, serta soal latiahan interaktif yang dapat diakses dengan mudah oleh siswa.

Abstract

Permasalahan yang dihadapi mitra saat ini yaitu produksi sampah anorganik meningkat pesat. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini yaitu membentuk kelompok pengumpul sampah anorganik skala rumah tangga, memberikan edukasi pelatihan pemilahan sampah dan perencanaan kegiatan bank sampahselanjutnya. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah “Pre Test Post Test Design”. Pengetahuan, sikap dan perilaku diukur sebelum dan  sesudah pelatihan. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah uji paired t-test dan uji wilcoxon. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat dengan memberikan edukasi mengenai sampah, focus group discussion (FGD), pelatihan pemilahan sampah rumah tangga, serta pre-post. Hasil analisis menunjukan bahwa tidak terdapat pengaruh edukasi terhadap pengetahuan (p-value: 0,968), sikap (p-value: 0,256) dan perilaku (p-value: 0,109)  peserta sebelum dan sesudah edukasi. Hasil edukasi penyuluhan menunjukan bahwa tidak terdapat pengaruh terhadap pengetahuan, sikap dan perilaku warga mitra. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa kesadaran dari warga belum ada untuk memilah dan mengolah sampah anorganik menjadi lebih bernilai ekonomi
