Abstract

This study examined how teachers and students negotiate meaning in a primary CLIL classroom and how teacher scaffolding supports learners’ understanding of both academic content and English language. Using a qualitative micro-genetic design, the research analyzed interactional sequences recorded during fifth-grade science and social studies lessons delivered through English. The findings reveal that meaning negotiation—manifested through clarification requests, confirmation checks, comprehension checks, and recasts—frequently emerges when students struggle with academic terminology. These negotiation episodes facilitate both linguistic development and conceptual understanding. The teacher’s scaffolding, including linguistic simplification, visual support, modeling, tiered questioning, and non-verbal cues, plays a critical role in mediating these processes. Micro-genetic tracking shows that students’ understanding develops gradually across successive turns, demonstrating how scaffolding becomes internalized during interaction. Overall, the study highlights the interdependent roles of negotiation and scaffolding in shaping effective CLIL learning and underscores the importance of teacher interactional competence for supporting young learners in bilingual content classrooms.

Abstract

This study investigated the impact of implementing a Deep Listening strategy through Problem-Based Listening Tasks (PBLT) on the listening competence of first-year university students. A quasi-experimental method employing a pretest–posttest control group design was applied to 42 students divided into experimental and control groups. Data were collected using a listening comprehension test and a cognitive engagement observation instrument. The findings reveal that students exposed to the Deep Listening–PBLT approach achieved substantially higher listening gains than those receiving conventional instruction. The most notable improvements occurred in inferential comprehension and information integration skills. Statistical analysis confirmed a significant difference between groups with a large effect size. These results indicate that integrating deep listening practices with problem-based tasks provides an effective pedagogical approach for enhancing listening competence in higher education contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of academic supervision, job satisfaction, and integrity on teacher performance, with trust in the principal as a mediating variable in public high schools in West Tanjung Jabung Regency. Using a quantitative approach with Structural Equation Modeling (SEM-PLS) analysis techniques through SmartPLS 4, this study involved 139 teachers as a sample. The results showed that integrity significantly influenced teacher performance, while job satisfaction and academic supervision significantly influenced trust in the principal. However, integrity did not influence trust, and trust in the principal did not significantly influence teacher performance. Furthermore, academic supervision and job satisfaction had no direct effect on performance, and all mediation pathways through trust in the principal were declared insignificant. These findings emphasize the importance of strengthening integrity and a more comprehensive professional development strategy to improve teacher performance.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the meaning construction and speaking strategies of first-year students of Class 1A of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program at IKIP PGRI Bojonegoro during academic discussions. This investigation focuses on how students construct meaning explicitly and implicitly, negotiate understanding, and use linguistic and pragmatic strategies in small group interactions. This study adopted a qualitative case study design. Data were obtained through classroom observations, discussion recordings, and transcriptions of spoken discourse, then analyzed using Gee and Halliday's meaning construction theory, Thomas's pragmatics, Fairclough's critical discourse analysis, Mercer's interthinking concept, and Brown and Yule's oral interaction framework. The results show that meaning construction occurs through clarification, negotiation, repair, and the use of adjacent pairs. These findings contribute to the development of speaking skills teaching, particularly in understanding how beginning students construct meaning and participate effectively in academic discussions.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation process and analyze the results of the application of the Genre Pedagogy (PG) Approach synergized with the contextualization of Jambi Local Legends in narrative writing learning. The research design used is an Intrinsic Qualitative Case Study located at MAN 5 Batang Hari. The research subjects included Indonesian Language teachers and grade X-1 students. Data were collected through classroom observations (to record the PG cycle), in-depth interviews (with teachers and students), and document analysis (students' narrative writing results). Key findings show that 85% of students' writing results successfully contain a generic scheme or complete basic narrative structure, supported by a significant increase in writing motivation (student interview data). The contextualization of Jambi Local Legends has been proven to shorten the time to understand the initial context and activate students' cognitive structures quickly. This study concludes that the local content-based PG approach is a valid and relevant strategy to improve narrative writing competency in Madrasah educational environments.

Abstract

This study explores students’ responses toward the use of Mobile Legends Bang Bang (MLBB) as a Game-Based Learning (GBL) media in teaching English vocabulary mastery among eighth-grade students at a junior high school in Padalarang. The study addresses students’ difficulties in learning vocabulary through conventional methods, which often lack engagement and contextual relevance. MLBB, as a popular digital game among adolescents, was utilized to provide a more meaningful and motivating learning experience. A qualitative descriptive method was applied, and data were collected through a questionnaire consisting of open-ended and close-ended items. Thirty eighth-grade students participated in the study after experiencing vocabulary learning activities that incorporated MLBB. The questionnaire responses were analyzed to identify students’ perceptions and attitudes. The findings show that students responded positively to the use of MLBB in vocabulary learning. They stated that the game helped them understand vocabulary in context, increased their motivation, and made learning more enjoyable. Students also felt more confident and engaged during the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Kasindra media (five senses box) and its contribution to the development of sensory literacy in children aged 4–5 years at Dharma Wanita Wagirkidul Kindergarten. The study used a qualitative descriptive design to examine the learning process, multisensory play activities, and children's responses during media use. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results showed that Kasindra was implemented systematically through structured, multisensory play activities that engaged children's five senses. This media contributed to children's ability to recognize, differentiate, and verbally express sensory stimuli. In addition to these main impacts, Kasindra also supported improvements in children's social interactions, communication skills, and self-confidence. The value of Kasindra's innovation lies in integrating sensory stimulation into contextually and play-based learning. This study was limited to one PAUD unit, so further research with a broader scope and duration is needed.

Abstract

This study aims to measure the success of the e-learning system implemented at SMA Negeri 1 Kroya by adopting the DeLone and McLean Information Systems Success Model. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed, with data collected through observations, interviews, and questionnaires distributed to 300 students selected randomly from a population of 1,004 students. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the SmartPLS software. The evaluation focused on six constructs: system quality, information quality, service quality, system use, user satisfaction, and net benefits. The results indicate that the model has adequate explanatory power in explaining system use, user satisfaction, and net benefits. Hypothesis testing shows that information quality and service quality significantly affect system use, while system quality and information quality significantly influence user satisfaction. In addition, system use and user satisfaction have a significant impact on net benefits. However, system quality does not significantly affect system use, and service quality does not significantly influence user satisfaction. Indirect effect analysis reveals that user satisfaction plays a more dominant mediating role than system use. These findings highlight that user satisfaction and quality of experience are key factors in determining the success of e-learning implementation.
