Abstract

This study examines the dynamics of capital structure in Indonesia by exploring the role of Return on Assets (ROA) in mediating the relationship between firm age, size, and leverage usage. Employing a quantitative approach, the research analyzes panel data from 424 non-financial companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during 2019-2021. The analysis utilizes Partial Least Squares (PLS), emphasizing that the data does not need to be normally distributed and can accommodate small sample sizes. The findings indicate that ROA acts as a negative, albeit statistically insignificant, mediator in the relationship between both firm age and size with leverage. Despite theoretical frameworks like Pecking Order and Market Timing Theories suggesting explanatory mechanisms, the study reveals that ROA’s mediation is not robust enough to substantiate these theories. Consequently, the results suggest that other factors may be more pivotal in explaining the observed relationships. This study underscores the need for further research into how firm characteristics influence capital structure, particularly in emerging markets like Indonesia. It contributes to the theoretical and practical understanding of capital structure management, providing crucial insights for investors and managers.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of the work environment, work discipline, and work ability on teacher performance using multiple linear regression analysis. The regression model reveals that, in the absence of influence from these variables, the predicted teacher performance score is 64.376. The analysis indicates that while work discipline (β = 0.188) and work ability (β = 0.111) positively influence performance, the work environment (β = -0.484) has a negative impact. Correlation coefficient analysis shows that the work environment has a low and negative correlation with teacher performance (r = -0.335), whereas work discipline (r = 0.181) and work ability (r = 0.212) have very low to low positive correlations. The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.176) suggests that only 17.6% of the variation in teacher performance is explained by these variables, indicating that 82.4% of the variance is due to other unexamined factors. These findings highlight the complexity of factors affecting teacher performance and suggest the need for further research to explore additional influential variables.

Abstract

The productivity level of the Indonesian population as an outcome of performance has not been able to compete with ASEAN's productivity. The low performance of this population is caused by various factors, including the imbalance between work and personal life and the lack of leadership involvement in employee well-being. These two factors not only affect company performance but also lead to employees' desire to leave their jobs, which is why this study was conducted. This research aims to determine whether there is a positive and negative effect of work-life balance and supervisor support on employee performance with or without mediation from turnover intention. From this study, it was found that there is a negative effect of work-life balance on employee performance, and a negative effect of turnover intention on employee performance was also found. There is a positive effect of work-life balance on turnover intention. It was found that there is no effect of supervisor support on turnover intention. Additionally, a positive effect of supervisor support on employee performance was found in this research. Moreover, it was found in this study that turnover intention mediates the effect of work-life balance on employee performance, while turnover intention cannot mediate the effect of supervisor support on employee performance.

Abstract

This study intends to determine the effect of Inflation, interest rates, and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) on the performance of conventional and Islamic mutual funds in Indonesia. This is an example of associative research, which seeks to determine the relationship between macroeconomic indicators, such as Inflation, interest rates, and GDP, and the performance of mutual funds in Indonesia. This study employs quantitative data. The population consisted of all registered Islamic and conventional mutual funds with the OJK. The sample size was 1,920 conventional mutual funds and 272 Islamic mutual funds. The data source is secondary data from the ojk.go.id and bi.go.id websites, including inflation data, interest rates, GDP, and Net Asset Value (NAV) of mutual funds. The research was conducted between 2017 and 2021. Documentation in the form of quarterly inflation statistics, interest rates, GDP, and NAV of Islamic and conventional mutual funds in Indonesia will be employed as data gathering methodologies. The study’s findings indicated that that macroeconomic variables such as Inflation, interest rates, and GDP did not significant effect on the partial and simultaneous performance of Islamic and conventional mutual funds in Indonesia. The absence of effect of macroeconomic indicators could be attributed to several factors, including low Inflation, limited investor information that prevents GDP from affecting performance directly, and interest rates which were not the primary reference for investors when investing in mutual funds.
