Abstract

Sigupai rice is highly sought after and has significant economic value. Despite its popularity, the production of Sigupai rice remains relatively low. This study aims to identify the factors influencing the production, technical efficiency, and sources of inefficiency in Sigupai rice farming in West Aceh District. Data was collected from all 31 Sigupai rice farmers in the region and analyzed using the stochastic frontier Cobb-Douglas production function. The results indicate that Sigupai rice farming has achieved a technical efficiency level of 0.80. Land area, seed quantity, and fertilizer were found to significantly influence rice production. However, farmers' age, experience in cultivating Sigupai rice, and education did not have a significant impact on technical inefficiency. To improve the efficiency of Sigupai rice farming, it is recommended to optimize input utilization, including proper land planning and soil management. Additionally, the use of certified Sigupai rice seeds and efficient fertilization techniques can contribute to increased productivity.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the factors influencing the performance of red ginger farmers in Wae Bangka and Wae Mowol Villages, Lembor District, West Manggarai Regency. Specifically, this study investigates the impact of internal and external factors on farmer performance, as well as the role of entrepreneurial orientation as a mediating variable. The results show that internal and external factors have a positive but insignificant effect on the performance of red ginger farmers. Analysis of the relationships between variables reveals that entrepreneurial orientation as a moderating variable has an influence on farmer performance. Furthermore, it was found that internal factors do not moderate the influence of external factors on farmer performance. This study also reveals the important role of entrepreneurial orientation as a mediator. Entrepreneurial orientation is proven to mediate the influence of internal factors on farmer performance. However, entrepreneurial orientation does not mediate the influence of external factors on the performance of red ginger farmers in the region. This research provides valuable insights into the dynamics affecting the performance of red ginger farmers in Wae Bangka and Wae Mowol Villages, and highlights the importance of developing entrepreneurial orientation in improving farmer performance.

Abstract

This study aims to assess how farmers perceive the impact of agricultural extension performance on rice farmers' ability in Alue Tampak Village, Kaway XVI Sub-district, West Aceh District. With a total population of 176 rice farmers, the study adopted a quantitative approach through a survey method. The sample was selected using the Slovin formula, resulting in 64 rice farmer respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using simple linear regression as well as hypothesis testing with the help of SPSS 20. The research findings indicated that farmers' perceptions of agricultural extension workers' performance positively affected their competence in rice farming. The R² value of 0.554 indicates that the performance of agricultural extension workers can explain 55.4% of the variation in farmers' competence, while factors beyond the scope of this study influence the remaining 44.6%. The regression test results yielded the equation Y = 2.599 + 0.631X + e, where the positive coefficient of 0.631 confirms the existence of a positive influence between agricultural extension performance and farmers' competencies.

Abstract

The relationship between consumption and income level was reciprocal, where increased income led to higher food consumption, while lower income resulted in reduced consumption. This study aimaed to analyze the relationship between income levels, education, number of family members, and land area in influencing farmers’ food consumption patterns. The research was conducted in Gading Sari Village, Tapung District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. A Simple Random Sampling (SRS) method was employed with 52 respondents. Results revealed that the average monthly income of farmers was IDR 7,678,651, while their average monthly food expenditure amounted to IDR 1,714,231. The simultaneous F-test indicated that the independent variables (income, education, family size, and land area) collectively had a significant effect on food consumption patterns. However, partial analysis demonstrated that only income and family size significantly influenced dietary habits, whereas land area and education showed no statistically significant correlation with farmers’ food consumption patterns.
