Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model in improving students' creativity and critical thinking skills in biotechnology. This study uses a literature review method by examining various scientific articles published between 2020 and 2025 through Google Scholar. The data were analyzed using content analysis to examine previous research results related to the application of PjBL in biology learning. The results of the study indicate that the consistent application of PjBL has a positive impact on improving students' creativity and critical thinking skills. Through direct involvement in project activities such as the creation of simple biotechnology products, students actively build knowledge, increase motivation, and gain a more meaningful understanding of concepts. PjBL is also in line with the learning needs of the 21st century, which emphasizes four key skills (critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication). Therefore, it can be concluded that PjBL is an effective, contextual, and relevant learning model for developing students' creativity and critical thinking skills on the topic of biotechnology.

Abstract

This research is motivated by a phenomenon that occurs in guidance and counseling study program students at UIN Sjech M. Djamil Djambek Bukittinggi. There are several students who tend to exhibit consumptive buying pattern This study aims to determine whether there is an influence of lifestyle on the consumptive behavior of guidance and counseling students at UIN Sjech M Djamil Djambek Bukittinggi. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational type with a simple linear regression analysis method. The population in this study was 493 students. The sampling technique in this study was Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling. The sample in this study was 221 samples. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire. Data analysis used to test the research hypothesis was simple linear regression. The results of the study showed that lifestyle influences the consumptive behavior of guidance and counseling students and the magnitude of the influence of lifestyle on consumptive behavior is 74.9% which is in the high category.

Abstract

This study explores gamification as an educational strategy to reduce students' dependence on gadgets in the digital age. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach through classroom observations and interviews at SMPN 1 Waru. The study revealed that conventional teaching often triggered students' requests to use gadgets, while gamified learning significantly diverted their attention from gadgets. The findings showed that 5 out of 6 sessions observed using traditional methods resulted in high gadget requests, while gamified sessions eliminated such requests completely. Students reported increased engagement and enjoyment in gamified activities, which is stated. This study highlights the dual role of gamification: reducing excessive gadget use while increasing motivation. This study contributes to digital age pedagogy by proposing non-digital gamification as a new solution to balance technology integration and focused learning.

Abstract

This study analyzes the role of career information services in helping students make career decisions at SMA Katolik Giovanni Kupang. Using a qualitative narrative approach, the research involved guidance and counseling (BK) teachers and 34 students from class XII-H. Data were collected through interviews and observations, then analyzed using data reduction, display, and conclusion techniques. The results showed that many students were still uncertain about choosing study majors and professions that match their interests and abilities. Factors influencing their decisions included parental influence, limited self-understanding, and lack of access to career and higher education information. Findings revealed that 79.4% of students began to understand their interests and talents, 85.3% gained knowledge about job opportunities, and 67.6% were able to make independent career decisions. BK teachers acted as facilitators and motivators, guiding students to identify their potential and connect personal values with societal needs. Despite its effectiveness, the program faced challenges such as limited technological facilities. Overall, the study concludes that career information services play a crucial role in developing students’ independence, confidence, and readiness to enter the professional world.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of Guidance and Counseling (BK) teachers in fostering student discipline at SMA Katolik Giovanni Kupang through group guidance services. The research used a descriptive qualitative approach, collecting data through interviews and observations with the BK teacher and students who had records of tardiness. The findings reveal that the BK teacher plays a strategic role as a facilitator, mediator, and motivator in fostering students’ disciplinary awareness. Group guidance services proved effective in improving students’responsibility and time management, as evidenced by the decrease in tardiness frequency after the sessions. The causes of tardiness include internal factors such as late-night habits and low motivation, and external factors such as transportation issues and limited parental support. The main obstacles were the lack of parental involvement and time constraints for counseling activities. This study concludes that discipline formation is more effectively achieved through humanistic and collaborative educational approaches rather than punitive measures.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the trends, technologies, and implications of microlearning in educational contexts through a systematic literature review approach. Data were collected from 197 articles indexed in the Scopus database between 2023 and 2025 and filtered using the PRISMA protocol, resulting in 32 relevant publications. The findings indicate a significant increase in microlearning studies in 2025, with primary concentrations in higher education, healthcare, and vocational training. Microlearning has proven effective in enhancing digital competence, self-efficacy, and learning motivation through the integration of technologies such as video-based instruction, mobile learning, and augmented reality. It also contributes to professional development for educators, language learning, and sustainable digital literacy. This study provides a conceptual foundation for developing adaptive, technology-supported instructional designs and serves as a basis for more inclusive and contextual digital education policies. Ultimately, it contributes by mapping current developments in microlearning, identifying strategic research gaps, and offering evidence-based insights to guide future innovations, implementations, and policymaking in digital education.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the integration of civic and social values in Economics learning at senior high schools in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, involving interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis with teachers, students, and principals from three selected high schools. The total number of participants in this study was 73 individuals selected purposively based on the research objectives and data requirements.  The results show that value integration occurs through three main stages: lesson planning, classroom implementation, and assessment. The dominant values integrated include honesty, responsibility, cooperation, social justice, and environmental awareness. Contextual and project-based learning approaches were found effective in instilling these values. The impact is evident in students’ improved integrity, discipline, empathy, and ethical decision-making in economic contexts. Although teachers face challenges such as limited time and lack of integrative guidelines between subjects, these are addressed through interdisciplinary collaboration and teacher working groups (MGMP). Overall, the integration of civic and social values in Economics learning significantly contributes to shaping students’ ethical character and responsibility as citizens.

Abstract

Fatherlessness can be defined as the absence of a father's role model and influence on his children within the family. This study was conducted through a literature review, utilizing research data published in online journals. A total of 26 articles were collected in this study, with 19 articles passing the review. The results indicate that students with fatherless children tend to experience personal instability. Fatherlessness can be a factor contributing to decreased academic achievement through decreased resilience. Students with a tendency toward fatherlessness are advised to maximize the role of mothers and other family figures who can fill the void of a father figure within them. They are also advised to teach various problem-solving and self-regulation skills. Schools are advised to pay more attention to the crucial or urgent circumstances of each student.

Abstract

This study investigates the extent to which the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) influences students' spatial analysis skills, employing a quantitative approach through a quasi-experimental design. The study population comprised all 11th-grade students at public high schools in Payakumbuh, with the sample drawn purposively from two selected classes. Students in the experimental group received GIS-based instruction, while the control group followed conventional teaching methods. Data were collected using spatial analysis tests, observations, and questionnaires. The data analysis, conducted using a t-test, revealed a statistically significant difference between the experimental and control groups, with a p-value of 0.000, indicating significance at the 0.05 level. The experimental group showed an average score improvement of 19.77 points, compared to only 10.47 points in the control group. These findings suggest that the integration of GIS effectively enhances students' spatial analysis skills, geospatial literacy, and learning motivation. Consequently, incorporating GIS technology into geography instruction holds strong potential to support the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum through technology-oriented and contextually relevant learning approaches.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the need assessment of psychological adjustment among female inmates at the Women’s Penitentiary in “X” Regency. The research background highlights the psychological vulnerability of female inmates who often experience emotional distress due to loss of freedom, limited social interaction, and negative societal stigma. This study used is descriptive qualitative with data sources in the form of needs assessment results, interviews, and field observations. The analysis revealed that 70% of inmates experienced stress due to a new and restrictive environment, 80% felt pressured by social stigma, and 70% were anxious about being rejected by society after release. These findings indicate a high level for strengthening psychological adjustment, particularly in managing stress, developing self-acceptance, and enhancing social support. The study underscores the importance of establishing community-based counseling services to promote psychological well-being and facilitate social reintegration for female inmates. This study provides context-specific evidence for designing community-based counseling interventions in female correctional institutions, which has received limited empirical attention in Indonesia.
