Abstract

East Suwangi Village is one of the villages in Sakra District, has an area of ​​2.17 km2, has hilly geographical conditions and a population of 5,069 people. Based on survey results and interviews with village heads, some areas are prone to flood disasters. The flooding that occurred was caused by overflow from drainage channels, causing it to accumulate on roads and residential areas. One effort to minimize inudation is the implementation of an environmentally friendly drainage system by constructing infiltration wells along flooded channels. The method used in this community service activity is to explain environmentally friendly drainage systems to the community and the practice of making infiltration wells in locations that are often flooded. The result of this activity is an increase in public understanding of the function and benefits of infiltration wells as a medium for environmentally friendly flood management. And the public can see firsthand how to make infiltration wells through practice in locations that are often flooded.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to inform the community about the importance of milk as a source of family nutrition, encourage the use of local livestock milk for this purpose, demonstrate the process of transforming buffalo milk into palopo, and highlight the economic benefits of livestock milk for improving farmers' incomes. This initiative addresses several issues: low public awareness of milk's health benefits and nutritional value, farmers' reluctance to milk lactating buffaloes due to concerns that this will deprive calves of their mother's milk, and the fact that milk is often wasted or not processed into other products. Additionally, there is a lack of familiarity with simple milk-processing technologies. To address these problems, the community service team from the Dairy Animal Science Department at the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Mataram University, will conduct outreach and training activities focused on using local buffalo milk to increase family income and nutrition. The service activity, held on June 1, 2024, involved 25 participants, including housewives, buffalo breeders, and members of the general public. The activities included lectures, discussions, and hands-on training in making palopo. As a result of this initiative, the community gained a better understanding of milk's role in family nutrition, adopted the use of local livestock milk, and learned how to process buffalo milk into palopo.

Abstract

Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) face challenges in product marketing and visibility in the digital era. This community service project aimed to enhance the digital content creation skills of MSME owners in Labuan Jambu Village, Sumbawa Regency, using the Canva application. The method employed consisted of three stages: introduction to digital content and the Canva application, hands-on content creation practice, and one-month post-training mentorship. Results showed significant improvements in participants' understanding of digital content importance, ability to produce quality content, and implementation of digital strategies in their businesses. The majority of participants successfully created relevant content without direct assistance, leading to increased customer interactions on social media and product demand from outside the region. Challenges encountered included device limitations, unstable internet connections, and difficulties in maintaining consistent application. This activity contributes to the national agenda of MSME digitalization and can serve as a model for other regions. Recommendations include developing digital infrastructure, establishing a digital MSME community, integrating training into government programs, and diversifying training materials. In conclusion, this training effectively enhanced MSMEs' digital skills, supporting local economic growth and improving competitiveness in the digital era. Abstract

Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is a freshwater fish that has high economic value so that it is widely cultivated by the community with a high stocking density without the addition of technological tools that maintain water quality. This causes water quality to decline, followed by a decrease in tilapia productivity, resulting in large losses. This problem is faced by many fish farmer groups (Pokdakan) in Indonesia including Pokdakan Mina Sari. The purpose of this service is to implement pinwheel technology in maintaining aquaculture water quality to optimize the productivity of tilapia cultivated by Pokdakan Mina Sari Purwosari Village, Baturraden, Banyumas, Central Java. The methods used in this service include socialization, training and mentoring. Socialization is carried out to introduce and convey the program to be carried out. Training was conducted to convey knowledge and skills including the application of mills, water quality management, handling of pests and diseases of tilapia, simple bookkeeping and marketing. Mentoring is carried out to assist partners in applying the technology delivered. The results of the service showed an increase in the enthusiasm and hard work of the farmer group members, an increase in tilapia productivity to 2-3 times from the original 2-3 quintals/pond to 6-9 quintals/pond, an increase in dissolved oxygen (DO) from 2-3 ppm to 5-6 ppm, an increase in fish weight/individual, an increase in fish feeding response, fish become more active, recording pond activities becomes more orderly, marketing has begun to serve retail buyers and there are fish processing activities. Therefore, this community service activity is very beneficial for fish farmers who are members of Mina Sari fish farmer group.

Abstract

Fish cultivation using a high-flowed water pond system is one of the most effective methods for cultivating freshwater fish such as tilapia. The high-flowed water pond culture method has several advantages, including high dissolved oxygen, adequate natural food, high stocking density, and lower pond costs. This method needs to be developed in fish farming groups, especially those with abundant water sources. The implementation of this community service program aims to disseminate intensive tilapia farming technology with a high-flowed water pond system to the community, especially in the Boonpring tourism area, Sanankerto Village, Malang Regency. The stages of the activity include training on the application of tilapia aquaculture in high-flow water pond systems, which includes material on the basic principles of high-flow water pond technology, tilapia aquaculture in high-flow water pond systems, and feeding management. This was followed by the construction of a demonstration plot for tilapia aquaculture in a high-flowed water pond system, as well as assistance from the beginning of seed stocking until harvest. The tilapia rearing period is carried out for 5–6 months until the fish reaches the consumption size. The size of tilapia consumed by Indonesians is between 2 and 5 fish per kilogram. This depends on consumer demand. From the harvest results, the survival rate (SR) of tilapia is 88%, with a feed conversion ratio (FCR) of 1.3. Seeing the potential, it is recommended to increase the number of high-flowed water ponds.

Abstract

Sekotong Beach is located in West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. This area offers marine tourism with coral reefs and diverse marine life, however this destination is less popular compared to other destinations on Lombok Island. The Communication Studies Department at University of Mataram collaborates with SMK Negeri 2 Sekotong to raise awareness among domestic and foreign tourists about the beauty of Sekotong Beach, thereby encouraging economic growth in the local community. The purpose of the Community Service Program (PkM) is to train students of SMK Negeri 2 Sekotong in maximizing the use of social media to promote tourist destinations in Sekotong. This PkM activity begins with a preliminary study, training, evaluation, and reporting. This event was attended by 30 students from the Hospitality, Culinary Arts, and Travel Business Departments. The training materials consist of an introduction to social media, social media strategy planning, and creating engaging content. At the end of the session, the committee concluded with the distribution of feedback questionnaires to the participants. The results of the questionnaire distribution will be used as evaluation material for the next PkM activities. The outcome of this training activity is that the students acquired skills in managing social media to enhance their ability to market tourist destinations.

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance the understanding and skills of MSME actors in Udayana, Mataram in utilizing digitalization to improve competitiveness. Activities included socialization, technical training, direct mentoring, and evaluation. The training covered social media, e-commerce, and simple business management tools. Results showed a significant improvement in participants’ digital literacy and ability to apply digital tools for business operations and marketing. Market access also expanded with promising income growth. This program plays a crucial role in transforming MSMEs into professional, efficient, and adaptive businesses, supporting local economic development.

Abstract

The problem of dust pollution at the service partner "Concha Handycraft" is at the core of program activities. Controlling dust from its source is the main goal, namely replacing blower style vacuum cleaners with centrifugal type vacuum cleaners. The centrifugal type was chosen because it has a simple shape, the motor is separate from the fan, so the motor is protected from dust. The activity method begins with designing, purchasing materials, manufacturing in the workshop, testing, minor repairs, application and assistance. The results obtained are that the centifugal model vacuum cleaner that has been applied has advantages. The electrical power used from previously 260 watts to 120 watts. Working time can also increase because the motor used is a DC motor so it doesn't heat up quickly. If you use a blower model, the electric motor heats up quickly because it gets dust and needs to be cooled. The ability to suck up dust is also increased, with a fan at a 30 degree angle the ability to suck up and throw out is balanced. By using a centripugal model vacuum cleaner, 95% of the dust produced by the grinding machine can be sucked into the dust collection chamber.  Concha Handycraft partner SME owners and employees are very happy with the new machine, so they can be more productive at work, and stay protected from exposure to dust in the workplace.

Abstract

Teratak Village in Batukliang Utara District, Central Lombok Regency, holds significant potential for agricultural product processing, particularly bananas. This community service program aims to empower local residents through flavor innovation, improved packaging, and digital marketing to enhance the competitiveness of banana chips as a flagship product. The activities involved training in producing multi-flavored banana chips such as chocolate, doger, and taro, developing attractive and eco-friendly packaging, and utilizing digital marketing strategies through platforms like Instagram and Facebook. The outcomes show that the community successfully created innovative flavors, designed informative labels, and adopted online marketing strategies to expand their market reach, including access to supermarkets and souvenir shops. This program has improved the community's skills and creativity, opened up new employment opportunities, and strengthened the identity of Teratak Village as a center of quality banana chip production. The integrated approach is expected to support sustainable local economic development.

Abstract

Guntur Macan Village is a hilly area located in the Gunung Sari sub-district, West Lombok Regency. The sandy hill soil, characterized by a significant slope, lacks cohesion, making the area prone to landslides, especially during heavy rainfall, flooding, or tectonic earthquakes. Landslides are further exacerbated by soil cracks filled with water, either from rain or other sources, which reduce the safety factor compared to soil without cracks. The closer the cracks are to the sliding surface, the more the safety factor decreases. In Guntur Macan Village and the surrounding areas of Gunung Sari sub-district, bamboo is widely planted. Bamboo, being cost-effective and environmentally friendly, can be utilized as a retaining structure to mitigate landslides. This Community Empowerment Program (PKM) commenced with a location survey conducted two weeks before implementation, followed by a two-day execution phase. On the first day, educational sessions were provided, covering topics such as bamboo cutting, preservation, and the construction of bamboo retaining walls. On the second day, bamboo retaining walls were built on residential land in Guntur Macan Village. Through this PKM activity, the residents of Guntur Macan are now capable of constructing bamboo retaining walls to prevent landslides.
