Abstract

The digital era has transformed the accessibility of music through various streaming platforms, making it an integral part of students’ daily lives. This study aims to analyze the role of music as a medium of tafakur (contemplation) in fostering spiritual awareness among Muslim university students. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using a questionnaire survey method involving 104 Muslim students in West Java who regularly listen to music. Data were collected through a Google Form questionnaire and analyzed using percentage-based calculations and descriptive interpretation of the findings. The results indicate that the majority of respondents perceive music not only as entertainment but also as a medium for self-reflection, emotional regulation, and spiritual strengthening. Both religious and non-religious songs are considered capable of conveying meaningful messages that encourage reflective contemplation. Therefore, music can function as a medium of tafakur that supports the development of spiritual awareness among Muslim students in the digital era.

Abstract

This study examines religious moderation from the perspective of the Prophet's hadith as a response to the growing problems of extremism, intolerance, and social division in plural societies. The discussion focuses on the hadith yassiru wa la tu'assiru, which emphasizes ease in religious practice and preaching. This research applies a qualitative approach based on library research. The data are analyzed through hadith takhrij, sanad and matan criticism, and hadith commentary, supported by mutaba'ah and syawahid. The findings show that the hadith yassiru wa la tu'assiru is authentic and strengthened by several chains of transmission, making it a valid normative foundation for developing a moderate religious attitude. Its core content affirms the principles of taysir, tasamuh, and a non-burdensome method of da'wah. The hadith also contains a psychological dimension that emphasizes the importance of calmness and a non-repelling approach in conveying Islamic teachings. In the contemporary context, these values are highly relevant for reducing extremist attitudes, strengthening tolerance, maintaining brotherhood, and building a peaceful, inclusive, and civilized social life. The implementation of these principles is expected to make a meaningful contribution toward constructing a harmonious society in accordance with the primary objectives of Islamic law.

Abstract

In the Western paradigm, science focuses more on the fundamental foundations of rationalism and empiricism. Conversely, in the Islamic tradition, science stems from three epistemologies famously associated with the thought of Abid Al-Jabiri, namely bayani, irfani, and burhani reasoning. This article aims to engage in a dialogue between Islamic and Western epistemologies within a scientific context, with a view to identifying appropriate conceptual frameworks within the epistemological framework. The approach adopted in this article employs a qualitative method based on library research. The data sources in this article are philosophical works and research that specifically discuss Islamic and Western epistemology. Additionally, sources include books, texts, and journals related to Islamic and Western epistemology. The analysis in this article employs content analysis techniques. The results indicate that the Western epistemological paradigm, which is grounded in reason and empiricism, can in fact be harmonised with Islamic epistemology. This epistemological harmony is achieved by establishing Islamic science as the primary paradigm, namely a scientific epistemological framework based on the foundations of revelation, namely the Qur’an and the Hadith. This represents an ideal, integrative epistemology for the future.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of al-jinās in al-Tafsīr al-Bayān li al-Qur’ān al-Karīm by Bint al-Syāṭi’ and to explain its function in the construction of the meaning of Qur’anic verses. Studies of al-jinās have generally focused on its classification and rhetorical beauty, while its role in the process of interpretation has received relatively little anttantion. This is a literature review using a qualitative approach. Primary data is sourced from Al-Tafsīr al-Bayān li al-Qur’ān al-Karīm by Bint al-Syāṭi’, while secondary data is obtained from Bint al-Syāṭi’s works, balagha literature, and relevant previous studies. Analysis was conducted through the identification of al-jinās forms, the classification of their types, and an examination of Bint al-Syāṭi’s interpretation of verses containing al-jinās. The research findings indicate that Bint al-Syāṭi’ does not view al-jinās as an independent aesthetic phenomenon, but rather as a linguistic device that reveals the semantic relationship between words within a verse. Sound similarity in al-jinās functions as an interpretive cue that directs the reading toward semantic relationship, whether in the form of emphasis or interconnections between ideads. This finding indicates a close connection between the phonological and semantic aspects in Bint al-Syāṭi’s adabī exegesis and confirms that al-jinās contributes to the formation of meaning in the Qur’an

Abstract

This study comparatively examines the material on the sins of the heart in the book Sulam at Taufiq and the Tasawuf Akhlak textbook for eleventh-grade Islamic senior high school students (MA) and its relevance to students’ moral development. The background of this study is based on the development of digital media that influences adolescents’ psychological conditions and character, showing that morality is not only related to outward behavior but also to inner conditions. This research uses a qualitative approach with a library research method through documentation studies of the kitab, textbooks, and relevant scientific journals, which are then analyzed descriptively and comparatively. The findings show that Sulam at Taufiq presents the material on the sins of the heart in a normative and concise manner while emphasizing tazkiyatun nafs as the core of moral formation through spiritual strengthening and inner awareness. Meanwhile, the Tasawuf Akhlak textbook is arranged more systematically, contextually, and applicatively through daily-life examples and explanations of the social impacts of sins of the heart such as riya’, ujub, hasad, and takabur, making it easier for students to understand.

Abstract

Studies on Sufism values as a theo-psychological basis for strengthening self-control tend to be examined partially. This study is to investigate the incorporation and impact of Sufism values for self-control in the digital age, in the context of cyber pathology. a qualitative literature review method with comparative analysis of various studies on digital psychology, cyber pathology, and Sufism values. Data were collected from Google Scholar, SINTA, Publish or Perish, and Mendeley Desktop, with publication criteria ranging from 2023 to 2026. The research procedures included identification, relevance screening, data reduction, tabulation, data extraction, and comparative analysis. The findings indicate that external approaches, such as legal regulations and digital literacy, remain insufficient in overcoming digital behavioral problems. The internalization of Sufism values addresses the individual’s inner dimensions and provides a preventive approach through integration with psychological concepts, namely tazkiyatun nafs, muraqabah, muhasabah, and mujahadah. These values are actualized through dhikr, zuhud, qana’ah, tawakal, tabayyun, and sabr to develop awareness, regulate emotions, and reduce digital dependence and the need for digital validation. Their implementation includes character education, digital literacy development, family parenting, as well as moral and mental health development programs grounded in theo-psychology. Sufism as a relevant means for shaping digital behavior.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the Qur’anic literacy learning model implemented through the One Day One Page (ODOP) program at Sekolah Al-Qur’an Wahdah Islamiyah Bogor. The study employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving the dormitory head, dormitory supervisors, and students as research participants. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while source and method triangulation were applied to ensure data trustworthiness. The findings reveal that the ODOP program represents an integrated Qur’anic literacy learning model that combines qira’ahh (reading), tafhim (comprehension), tadabbur (reflection), and kitabah (writing) within a systematic and sustainable learning cycle. The implementation of the model is supported by daily reading habits, teacher guidance, Majelis Tadabbur (weekly reflection forums), and reflective evaluation processes. The model not only enhances students’ ability to read and understand the Qur’an but also contributes to the development of reading interest, reflective thinking skills, discipline, responsibility, and spiritual awareness. This study proposes an Integrated Qur’anic Literacy Model Based on Qira’ahh–Tafhim–Tadabbur–Kitabah, which conceptualizes Qur’anic literacy as a holistic learning process that integrates cognitive, affective, social, and spiritual dimensions in fostering students’ literacy culture.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of entrepreneurship from an Islamic perspective, including its legal foundations, characteristics, principles, attitudes, behaviors, and benefits. In Islam, entrepreneurship is not merely an economic activity aimed at generating profit but also a form of worship guided by Sharia values such as honesty, trustworthiness, justice, and social responsibility. This study aims to explain how Islam provides a normative and ethical framework for entrepreneurial activities through the Quran, Hadith, Ijma’, Qiyas, and the business practices of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The research employs a library research method with a descriptive-qualitative approach by analyzing relevant books, journals, and scholarly sources. The findings reveal that Islamic entrepreneurship is characterized by shiddiq, amanah, tabligh, fathanah, Sharia-compliant transactions, and sincere intentions of worship. Furthermore, principles such as creativity, innovation, risk-taking, hard work, and honesty serve as essential foundations for ethical business practices that contribute to both worldly prosperity and success in the hereafter.

Abstract

This study examines the practice of female circumcision in Sukowono District, Jember Regency, through the perspective of living hadith. Female circumcision remains a socio-religious tradition passed down from generation to generation, although the hadiths used as its basis are disputed among scholars in terms of authenticity and legal status. This research aims to analyze the hadiths related to female circumcision, describe the forms of its practice in Sukowono, and explain the relationship between the practice and the community’s reception of the Prophet’s hadith. This study employs a qualitative field research method with a living hadith approach through observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. The findings reveal that the people of Sukowono continue practicing female circumcision because it is considered part of Islamic teachings and family tradition. The current practice tends to be symbolic and mild, involving slight scraping without excessive cutting. Most community members do not deeply understand the hadith texts or their sanad quality, yet the hadiths continue to live through tradition, the practices of traditional birth attendants, and collective social beliefs. This study concludes that the continuity of female circumcision in Sukowono is influenced more by socio-cultural reception of hadith than by direct textual understanding of the hadith itself.

Abstract

This study aims to examine Muslim women's views on the urgency of financial independence, the meaning of the concept of fitrah in Islamic teachings, and the challenges of patriarchal culture in the modern era. This study employed a mixed methods approach, with data collection conducted through an online questionnaire distributed to 62 female respondents and in-depth interviews with three informants from varying social backgrounds. The results indicate that the majority of respondents view financial independence not only as important but also as a form of self-protection in the face of future uncertainty. Women's success is now defined beyond the institution of marriage to encompass personal achievement and professional careers. Respondents also believe that women's fitrah is not limited to a purely domestic role; seeking knowledge and working are seen as manifestations of worship. On the other hand, patriarchal culture and negative stigmas against ambitious women still persist in society. However, most respondents use this gender bias as a strong motivation to achieve and prove their abilities without having to abandon Islamic values.
