Abstract

This study is motivated by the increasing ecological crisis, which reflects an imbalance in the relationship between humans and the environment. At the same time, piety in religious life is often understood primarily as an individual and ritual practice, resulting in limited ecological awareness. This study aims to analyze the concept of individual piety in Islam, identify the factors contributing to its limited ecological implications, and reconstruct the concept of ecological piety based on the thought of Seyyed Hossein Nasr. This research employs a qualitative approach using a library research method. Data were collected through documentary analysis of Seyyed Hossein Nasr’s works, classical and contemporary literature, and relevant scholarly journals, and were analyzed using descriptive-analytical and interpretive methods. The findings reveal that piety in Islam is inherently holistic, encompassing the relationship between humans and Allah, fellow human beings, and the natural world. However, ritual-oriented religious paradigms and anthropocentric perspectives have weakened its ecological dimension. Drawing on Nasr’s thought, this study reconstructs the concept of ecological piety based on the principles of tawhid, the sacredness of nature, the trusteeship (khilāfah) of humanity, and environmental ethics. Ecological piety is therefore understood as a form of spiritual consciousness that encourages human responsibility for preserving environmental sustainability as an act of devotion to Allah.

Abstract

Modern Islamic education faces the challenge of a moral and ethical crisis (adab), thereby requiring a theoretical foundation capable of integrating knowledge, ethics, and character formation among learners. This study aims to analyze learning theory from the perspective of Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas through the concept of ta’dib as the foundation of Islamic education. The research employed a library research method using a descriptive-qualitative approach by examining various scholarly journals and literature related to the concepts of ta’dib, tarbiyah, and ta’lim in Islamic education. The findings reveal that the concept of ta’dib, according to al-Attas, positions education as a process of instilling adab encompassing intellectual, spiritual, moral, and social development in a balanced manner. This concept is not merely oriented toward the transfer of knowledge but also toward the formation of civilized individuals (insan adabi) who are able to place things according to their proper nature and position. The study also demonstrates that the implementation of ta’dib remains relevant to contemporary education, particularly in strengthening character education, digital ethics, and value-based learning. Therefore, the concept of ta’dib serves as an essential foundation for developing a holistic, humanistic Islamic educational system oriented toward the cultivation of noble character.

Abstract

This research examines cyber media ethics from an Islamic perspective through a qualitative literature study approach. The study is driven by the urgency of increasingly complex digital moral challenges, including the spread of hoaxes, cyberbullying, and the erosion of Islamic values in online interactions. Using a qualitative method with a library research design, this study analyzes various primary and secondary sources comprising the Quran, hadith, classical Islamic scholarship, and contemporary academic literature to construct a comprehensive Islamic framework for cyber ethics. The findings reveal that Islam provides a robust ethical system for digital life through three core principles: tabayyun (verification of information before dissemination, QS. Al-Hujurat: 6), qaulan layyinan (gentle and respectful communication, QS. Thaha: 44), and the spirit of amar ma'ruf nahi munkar as a digital responsibility. This study argues that these Islamic principles are not only relevant but superior to generic digital literacy frameworks because they are grounded in theological accountability (mas'uliyyah) and divine consciousness (muraqabatullah). The integration of these values into everyday digital practice constitutes the foundation of a Muslim's cyber ethics.

Abstract

This study analyzes the matan quality of the hadith in Sunan an-Nasa'i No. 5126 prohibiting women from wearing perfume, with a focus on the term zāniyah, using an integrative approach combining matan criticism and classical Arabic semantics (al-Dalālah and Balāgah). Employing a qualitative library-based method, the study applies matan criticism through consistency tests with the Qur'an, other hadiths, and linguistic principles, alongside semantic analysis to distinguish between literal (ḥaqīqī) and figurative (majāzī) meanings. The findings indicate that the hadith is maqbūl in terms of its sanad. However, a literal interpretation of zāniyah contradicts the Qur'anic requirement of four witnesses for establishing adultery, rendering such interpretation untenable within matan criticism. Semantically, zāniyah is best understood as majāzī functioning as mubālagah taḥżīriyyah (hyperbolic moral warning) through isti’ārah or majāz mursal rather than a legal verdict of adultery. In the Indonesian Muslim context, this hadith is more appropriately positioned as a contextual ethical guide, not an absolute prohibition, with intent, situation, and context as determining variables.

Abstract

The phenomenon of insecurity is one of the mental problems experienced by many modern society, especially the younger generation. Feelings of inability to accept oneself, anxiety about the future, and low self-esteem due to the pressure of social norms can affect a person's mental health. This study aims to examine the concept of insecurity and its form of therapy in the perspective of Tafsir Al-Munir by Wahbah az-Zuhaili. This research is a qualitative research based on library research using a thematic interpretation approach (maudhu'i). The primary source of data for the study is Tafsir Al-Munir fi al-'Aqidah wa al-Syari'ah wa al-Manhaj by Wahbah az-Zuhaili, while secondary data comes from journals and studies related to Islamic mental health. The results of the study show that the concept of insecurity in Tafsir Al-Munir is represented through several human psychological conditions, namely: (1) khauf, as a form of anxiety about threats or something that has not yet happened (2) huzn,  as deep sadness due to past experiences, and (3) halu’, as a human tendency to feel restless and complain. According to Wahbah az-Zuhaili, the root of the emergence of insecurity is related to the weak understanding of monotheism, excessive life orientation towards the world, and lack of gratitude for Allah's favors. The therapies offered include reconstructing mindsets through strengthening optimism, optimizing worship such as dhikr and prayer as a medium for peace of mind, and internalizing the values of qana'ah and tawakal.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Qur'anic critique of hedonistic and consumerist lifestyles through a thematic (maudhu'i) interpretation approach, focusing on Tafsir Al-Munir by Wahbah Az-Zuhaili, while formulating a conceptual model of Qur'anic consumption ethics. This research employs a library research method using the thematic interpretation approach. Primary data were obtained from Tafsir Al-Munir, while secondary data were collected from classical and contemporary Qur'anic commentaries, scholarly books, and relevant journal articles. The analysis involved the identification of relevant Qur'anic verses, thematic classification, comparative analysis of Qur'anic exegeses, and conceptual synthesis. The findings reveal that Wahbah Az-Zuhaili regards hedonism and consumerist behavior as manifestations of isrāf (excessiveness), tafākhur (boastfulness), and excessive worldly orientation, all of which contradict the Qur'anic principle of moderation. Compared with Ibn Kathir, Al-Qurṭubi, and Sayyid Qutb, Az-Zuhaili places greater emphasis on practical ethical and social dimensions applicable to contemporary life. This study proposes a Qur'anic Consumption Ethics Model based on the principles of wasathiyyah, qanā'ah, gratitude, social responsibility, and the avoidance of isrāf as guidelines for Muslim consumption behavior.

Abstract

This study aims to examine publication trends, dominant epistemological models, and practical implementation challenges regarding the integration of science and religion within the Islamic Education curriculum. Employing a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach based on PRISMA 2020 guidelines and PRISMA-S reporting standards, a comprehensive search was conducted on April 15, 2026, across five databases (Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, DOAJ, and SINTA) alongside manual citation searching. Out of 620 initially identified records, rigorous multi-stage screening and full-text eligibility assessment yielded 36 final selected articles published between 2016 and 2025. The findings reveal an accelerating publication trend centered on Tawhidic integration paradigms and scientific interconnectedness (Wahdatul Ulum). However, curriculum execution faces persistent field barriers, including limited teacher pedagogical competence in interdisciplinary approaches, a scarcity of integrated instructional materials, and institutional constraints. Consequently, this study highlights the necessity of shifting future research agendas toward classroom-based empirical evaluations and technology-driven instructional development to achieve sustainable science-religion integration in Islamic education.
