Abstract

This research aims to describe the leadership perspective of the Persatuan Islam (Persis) Branch of Tanjungsari on the concept of religious moderation, analyze its relevance to Emile Durkheim’s structural-functional theory and George Herbert Mead’s symbolic interactionism, and explain its sociological implications for community interaction in Tanjungsari. This study employs a qualitative-descriptive approach using field studies and library research. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, involving Persis religious leaders and community members as primary data sources, while books, journals, and official documents served as secondary data. The analysis applies sociological interpretation based on Durkheim’s and Mead’s theoretical frameworks. The findings indicate that Persis Tanjungsari understands religious moderation as a social mechanism that fosters harmony while maintaining Islamic orthodoxy. Moderation is practiced in social interactions but not extended to theological compromise. The organization functions as a moral regulator, cultivating tolerance without diluting religious principles. This aligns with Durkheim’s concept of religion as a source of social solidarity and Mead’s view of meaning formation through interaction. This study contributes to the sociology of religion in Indonesia by revealing the internal meaning-making process of moderation within Persis and its implications for community cohesion.

Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of talent management through competency testing as a strategy to improve the quality of the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) within the Makassar City Government. Using a qualitative case study approach, the research explores the competency gaps identified among supervisory-level employees who participated in the 2024 competency assessment conducted by BKPSDM Makassar City. Data were collected through observations (12 February–15 March 2024), documentation review, and interviews with key stakeholders. The findings show that although 93% of employees fall within the “optimal” competency mapping category, only 20% meet the requirements for higher job placements, while 40% are still developing, and another 40% fall below required standards. Significant competency gaps were found in self-development, managing change, and orientation to results. These gaps indicate that competency test results have not been fully integrated into a comprehensive talent management system, particularly in linking assessment outcomes with strategic development, placement, and career acceleration policies. The study concludes that while competency testing provides a strong diagnostic foundation, its effectiveness in strengthening talent management relies on consistent follow-up mechanisms, data-driven decision-making, and sustainable development programs. Recommendations include enhancing HR analytics, reinforcing merit-based policies, and establishing continuous monitoring to develop a professional, accountable, and high-performing ASN workforce.

Abstract

This study aims to identify, analyse, and describe in depth the educational management model implemented at the Subulussalam Modern Islamic Boarding School (PPMS), Kresek, Tangerang, Banten, in internalising the values of multicultural Islamic education. PPMS, with its composition of students from various regions, is seen as an ideal social laboratory. The primary data are: Head of the Islamic Boarding School, teachers, and students of PPMS, and the data analysis techniques in this study are: Data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The main results of the study indicate that multicultural management at PPMS is implemented informally but structurally through three pillars: 1) Integration of the values of Ukhuwah Islamiyah, Wathaniyah, and Basyariyah into the Tahfidz Al-Qur'an curriculum and religious subjects, 2) A heterogeneous boarding school policy (ethnically mixed room system) to facilitate intensive 24-hour interaction, and 3) The exemplary behaviour of Kiai and Ustadz/Ustadzah as models of tasamuh (tolerance) and ta'awun (mutual cooperation). In conclusion, management based on multicultural Islamic values at PPMS is effective in creating a harmonious and inclusive educational ecosystem, equipping students with spiritual and social intelligence that prepares them to face the challenges of global and domestic diversity. This study recommends the formalisation of this model as a management guide for other Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the application of a differentiated approach in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) learning in elementary schools. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with a multisite study design. The data of this research consist of descriptive information related to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of differentiated instruction in the IPAS subject. The data were obtained from teachers and students who were directly involved in the IPAS learning activities. Data collection techniques in the form of observation, depth interviews, and documentation analysis. The data were analyzed using the interactive analysis model by Miles & Huberman, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The subjects of the study were teachers and students from three elementary schools in Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi, namely SD Negeri Rappokaleleng, SD Inpres Tamanyeleng, and SD Negeri Tanabangka. The results show that teachers have applied a differentiated approach to three main aspects of learning: content, process, and product. In the planning stage, teachers conducted diagnostic assessments to identify students' learning styles and interests as the basis for developing flexible teaching modules. In implementation, teachers present materials in various forms and provide a choice of activities and products according to students' learning preferences. The assessment is carried out in a formative and summative manner with a varied approach and adjusted to the individual needs of the student. A differentiated approach has been proven to increase students' active participation, motivation, and independence in learning. However, its implementation still faces a number of obstacles, such as limited time, facilities, and students' readiness for independent learning. Therefore, this study recommends the importance of systemic support and teacher capacity building so that the implementation of differentiated approaches can take place in a sustainable and equitable manner in primary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and develop innovative strategies to overcome learning boredom in Islamic Religious Education subjects at Islamic boarding school-based vocational high schools (SMK). This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, conducted at SMK Islam Raden Fatah Darussalam Tugumulyo, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, South Sumatra. The main data sources consisted of Islamic Religious Education teachers, 10th and 11th grade students, and pesantren administrators, while secondary data was obtained from school academic documents, pesantren activity schedules, and digital learning archives. Data collection techniques included participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman model through a process of data reduction, data presentation, and iterative conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that student learning fatigue is influenced by a heavy course load, an intensive boarding school schedule, monotonous teaching methods, and a lack of variety in digital media in Islamic Religious Education learning. Teachers implemented several innovative strategies such as project-based learning, gamification, contextual-collaborative approaches, and the use of interactive digital media in the form of reflective videos and online quizzes. These strategies have been proven to increase students' motivation, engagement, and reflective abilities regarding Islamic values. This research is significant because it provides practical contributions to boarding school-based schools in designing effective learning strategies to reduce boredom in Islamic Religious Education. Theoretically, this research enriches the study of Islamic Religious Education learning management, particularly in the context of vocational education integrated with the boarding school system.
