Abstract

Community service aims to provide tangible contributions by offering innovative solutions to various local problems. One of Indonesia’s major issues, especially in urban areas, is waste management. Every day, tons of waste are produced, but it is often disposed of without further processing. A lack of public knowledge about organic waste management is a key contributing factor. In Tadukan Raga Village, Deli Serdang Regency, Universitas Sumatera Utara implemented a community service program to educate residents on environmentally friendly organic waste processing using maggots. Maggots can decompose organic waste and produce residue that serves as fertilizer, while the larvae themselves are valuable as fish feed. Additionally, residents were trained in straw mushroom cultivation to maximize the benefits of organic waste. The program successfully increased public awareness of waste management, produced economically valuable products, and established maggot-based production facilities. This initiative not only reduced environmental impact but also supported local economic sustainability. Recognizing further potential for development, additional training continues to be conducted to strengthen the program’s outcomes.

Abstract

Public awareness of the importance of health is increasingly developing towards a better direction. One method is by consuming supplements and herbal medicines to increase the body's resistance to avoid certain diseases. The consumption of safe, high-quality and useful herbal supplements and medicines needs to be cultivated and preserved by the community. The aim of this activity is to increase public awareness of the misuse and wrong use of supplements and herbal medicines. Community service was carried out at Harapan Sehati Hospital in the Bojonggede area, Bogor Regency with a total of 30 participants.   are used for the counselling. Data were collected using a questionnaire consisting of demographics, knowledge and behavior of participants regarding the use of supplements and herbal medicines. Data processing uses descriptive analysis methods, and the non-parametric Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The majority of participants were women (83.3%) and aged 17-25 years (43.3%). As many as 66.7% of participants were college graduates and 96.7% worked as private employees. The percentage of participants who had good knowledge about supplements and traditional medicine before (pre) counseling was 43.3%. Good knowledge becomes 80% after (post) counseling. The data shows a p-value of 0.001 (<0.05), which means there is an influence of counseling, or there is a significant difference between knowledge before and after being given education. Abstract

This Community Service (PKM) aims to increase awareness and understanding of MSME actors regarding the importance of halal certification and provide solutions to problems faced by Arabica Coffee MSME actors through halal certification assistance. The methods used in this activity are socialization, assistance, and evaluation. The solution to the problems faced is that non-seasonal entrepreneurs who sell halal products can apply for halal certificates on the condition that they submit a halal supervisor who is Muslim, ensure that the production process is in accordance with Islamic law, separate the tools and materials used for halal and non-halal products. The results of the activity show that the community service activity has been carried out well and has a positive impact on the community as evidenced by a very significant figure of 33% to 81% in the level of increasing community understanding regarding the Indonesian Ulema Council, benefits, impacts, and issuance of Halal Certification. The supporting factor for this activity is the active participation of the community in activities from start to finish and the inhibiting factor in this activity is the unstable communication network so that it is difficult to communicate to determine the schedule.

Abstract

Hegarmanah Village is one of the villages located in Lebak Regency, Banten with the area closest to the Warunghuni coast where sea pandan plants grow (Pandanus tectorius Park.). The sea pandan plant is a wild plant that grows a lot on the coast which is useful for withstanding the impact of the waves and has the effect of minimizing damage to the area behind the pandan vegetation. The community uses sea pandan fruit only for the leaves as raw material for making mats, but the fruit is often thrown away due to lack of knowledge. Sea pandan fruit contains secondary metabolite compounds that are beneficial for health. This community service activity (PKM) aims to increase the community's knowledge and skills in processing sea pandan fruit into herbal drinks to improve the community's health and economy. This PKM activity is carried out in the form of direct training with PKK women at Hegarmanah Village, housewife communities, Karang Taruna youth and village officials with the hope that the community can produce sea pandan juice herbal drinks sustainably and commercialize them as a typical Hegarmanah Village drink. Efforts to increase the selling value of abundant sea pandan fruit into various products with high competitiveness can be realized through continuous coaching and assistance by the community in collaboration with the team from the Pharmacy Study Program, Pakuan University.

Abstract

The prevalence of maternal mortality and KEK (Energy-Protein Deficiency) in South Tangerang in 2022 were 27.34% and 3.51%, respectively. These figures provide an illustration that although it decreased in 2022 and reached the target, it still requires attention considering the impact of mothers experiencing high-risk KEK on their fetuses. One effort that can be made is to provide pregnancy care training and nutrition-hydration education. This activity involved cadres of the RT002 Posyandu and PKK Serua Ciputat Tangerang Selatan mothers totaling 10 people. This activity was carried out for 3 months (November - January 2025). The form of activity was in the form of socialization, discussion group forums, and pregnancy care training including weight and height checks, blood pressure, and talk shows (T-1, T-2, T-10). Online socialization via Zoom for 120 minutes (45-minute lecture), Q&A discussion (60 minutes), discussion group forum (90 minutes) and training (90 minutes). The average age of cadres is 51-60 years (60.0%), D3/D4 education (60.0%), and works as a housewife (50.0%). This activity shows an increase in subject knowledge related to water needs, the role of vitamin D, understanding dehydration, T2 activities, T4 measurements, and the benefits of Fe tablets where previously less than 90.0%, to more than 90.0%. Abstract

Risk management in collaborative entrepreneurship in Kampoeng Aseupan MSMEs and Anyaman Bambu MSMEs through the Creative Art Space program is an important aspect in improving business sustainability. This Community Service (PPM) summarizes mentoring activities and Real Work Lectures (KKN) in Sukasari Village, which focus on risk analysis in collaboration between MSMEs. This Community Service (PPM) integrated KKN activity aims to assist MSME actors in recognizing and managing risks that arise in business collaboration, as well as strengthening collaborative capacity between business actors in Sukasari Village. The program is implemented through a participatory approach based on the Community Service (PPM) integrated Real Work Lecture (KKN) program and interactive facilitation sessions, such as surveys, in-depth interviews, and analysis of the Risk Assessment Matrix approach. Results of Community Service (PPM). From the results of the activity, it was found that the main challenges in MSME collaboration were the inconsistency of the cooperation agreement and the low involvement of consumers in the Creative Art Space program. As a solution, the team drafted a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) document that regulates the rights and obligations of business partners and installed standing banners as a form of educational promotion. It is hoped that this effort can strengthen the effectiveness of cooperation and increase the competitiveness of MSMEs in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

Household organic waste management remains a major challenge in Gadingsari Village, Sanden District, Bantul Regency. Due to low awareness and limited use of waste processing technologies, residents often burn or improperly dispose of organic waste. This community service program aimed to introduce maggot (Black Soldier Fly) cultivation as an innovative, environmentally friendly, and economically beneficial solution. The program was implemented using a Community Based Research (CBR) approach, consisting of four main stages: laying the foundation, planning, information gathering and analysis, and acting on findings. Participatory education and training were conducted to enhance the community’s capacity to manage organic waste as a productive resource. Evaluation results showed an increase in knowledge and skills, along with active community involvement. This initiative is expected to be integrated into the future Waste Processing Facility (TPST 3R) and serve as a replicable model for other villages. Overall, the program contributes to improving environmental quality and promoting sustainable community well-being.

Abstract

Fulfillment of quality and safe food is the human right of every Indonesian citizen. However, research results show that many cases of disease in the community occur due to food poisoning, and in fact most often occur in children. Meanwhile, there is a government program called the national movement towards school children's snacks (PJAS) that are safe, healthy and clean. The facts show that many hawkers do not understand the importance of this movement in applying it to their merchandise. The aim of this service activity is to provide guidance, training, mentoring and inspection of food additives and microbes in the snacks of hawkers in the Sleman Regency area, especially for members of the Mugo Lestari School Hawker Community (KUPAS), especially in one of the elementary schools in Sleman. The methods used in this activity are guidance, training and assistance to hawkers. Various outreach activities, coaching the KUPAS organization and several times providing subsidies to carry out laboratory tests on school snacks produced by KUPAS members. One of the qualitative results of checking school snacks, there were still several member products that detected E Coli, rhodamine, borax, formalin. Efforts to follow up this activity by giving stickers to traders for those who meet the safe criteria for laboratory examination. Laboratory test results that still contain contaminated materials are carried out by coaching and food testing until the total is negative.
