Abstract

Based on Law Number 1 of 1970 concerning Occupational Safety is not only applied in industry, but in all workplaces, it is mandatory to apply Safety and Security (K3), one of which is in education both at school and college levels which have a high risk of danger. The cause of work accidents occurs due to Unsafe Action factors reaching 88% and 10% Unsafe Conditions. Health and Safety Executive data states that 90% of accidents are caused by human error. The purpose of the research is to design AC and DC electrical safety training modules that can be used as practicum media for students in understanding the basic principles of electrical risk control and prevention of explosion hazards due to errors in electrical systems. The engineering and development method is the design and fabrication of training modules, which consist of AC and DC electrical devices, equipped with risk control systems such as automatic circuit breakers, grounding systems, and short circuit protection. The results show that the circuit design consists of 2 circuits, namely AC and DC circuits. The circuits can be separated and can be combined by considering making it easier to carry out practicum and maintenance processes to prevent failures in the system that can cause accidents.

Abstract

The pepper drying process is generally carried out conventionally under inefficient sunlight and is dependent on the weather. This study aims to analyze the performance of an automatic sieving system in a greenhouse-based pepper dryer that uses solar panels as an energy source. The main innovation of this study is the implementation of an automatic sieving mechanism to ensure even heat distribution during the drying process. The system is controlled by an Arduino Uno microcontroller with input from DHT22 sensors for temperature and humidity, and a load cell to detect weight loss of the material. A servo motor is used to move the sieve at certain intervals. Tests were conducted under two conditions, namely with and without automatic sieving, using a 60 W incandescent lamp at an average temperature of 55°C. The results showed that the automatic sieving system accelerated the drying time by up to 1 hour and 30 minutes faster than the static system. 100 grams of wet pepper was successfully dried to 75.88 grams in 7 hours, with a water content reduction of approximately 24%. These results indicate that the automatic sieving system effectively increases heat transfer efficiency and accelerates the drying process without additional external electrical energy.

Abstract

Population growth that is not balanced with adequate environmental management can hurt environmental quality. The Somber Hulu River is one of the rivers located in the North Balikpapan District. Some people living around the river directly discharge liquid waste into the river, potentially causing pollution that can disrupt the river ecosystem. One sign of pollution in the Somber Hulu River is characterized by smelly and cloudy river water. The research began by determining the river water sampling point, and then the water samples were tested to determine the pollutant concentration based on the specified parameters. The next stage was determining the water quality status using the Pollution Index (IP) method. The reference water quality standard used the class II river water quality standard based on Government Regulation number 22 of 2021. The purpose of this study was to determine the water quality status in the Somber Hulu River as a basis for decision-making in planning control measures to improve surface water quality. Based on the results of the measurements carried out, it is known that in general the water quality of the Somber Hulu River is moderately polluted with an IP value of 3.87 and lightly polluted with an IP value of 7.05 at point 2, an IP value of 5.37 at point 3, and an IP value of 5.25 at point 4. There needs to be management and control of water pollution sources, such as optimizing the use of septic tanks, carrying out monitoring activities, conducting routine river water quality monitoring, and encouraging community involvement in sustainable river management.

Abstract

Babulu District is recognized as the primary rice-growing area in the region of North Penajam Paser Regency. This region is expected to become a food security buffer for the prospective Indonesian capital city (IKN). In spite of the significance and high agricultural potential of the region, agropolitan development in the region is limited by the lack of adequate infrastructures. This study aims to measure the significance levels and performance levels of agropolitan infrastructures in the region of Babulu District through the Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) tool. Questionnaires and in-depth interviews with farmer groups and key informants are employed as data collection instruments. The findings revealed that irrigation channels and water reservoirs have the largest gaps in terms of importance-performance. This is followed by farm roads, storage facilities, and processing facilities. In contrast, electricity networks, markets, fertilizer kiosks, and extension centers have relatively higher performance levels in comparison to their significance levels. This suggests that a priority should be given to the development of primary infrastructures in agropolitan development in the region

Abstract

Endowment life insurance is a product that provides benefits both upon the insured's death and while they remain alive until the end of the contract period. Determining premiums for this product requires a model that can capture multiple types of risk, making the multiple-decrement approach relevant. This study aims to calculate dual-purpose life insurance premiums by considering two causes of termination, namely death and inability to pay (lapse), using Indonesia's TMI 2023 mortality data, the probability of default from the OJK 2025 report, and interest rate sensitivity scenarios. The research methods include compiling life expectancy and active-payment probability tables, determining discount factors based on a deterministic interest rate model across three scenarios (pessimistic, realistic, optimistic), and calculating the present value of benefits and annual premiums for two decrement cases. The results show that premiums are highly sensitive to interest rates. Lower interest rates result in higher premiums, while higher interest rates reduce premiums according to the discount principle. In Case 1 (death) and Case 2 (default), different premium values are obtained due to variations in the decrement probabilities of each risk. Overall, the multiple decrement model proved to provide more accurate calculation results that are in line with the actual risk conditions in Indonesia. This study also identified potential developments by incorporating a stochastic interest rate model and adding other types of decrements to support more comprehensive premium setting for the insurance industry.
