Abstract

Strengthening children's literacy and character is a strategic effort that plays an important role in community empowerment. Literacy, which includes reading and writing skills, allows children to access information critically and wisely, improve understanding, and develop their potential. On the other hand, character education forms fundamental values such as honesty, responsibility, cooperation, and discipline, which are essential in building a resilient and ethical personality. Through strengthening literacy and character from an early age, children are prepared to become productive and competitive individuals, as well as become agents of positive change in society. This strengthening program not only has a direct impact on children, but also makes a significant contribution to improving the social and economic quality of the community as a whole. Thus, children's literacy and character are an important foundation in creating a prosperous, independent, and empowered society.

Abstract

Online gambling's explosive expansion and the widespread reach of social media platforms have raised serious concerns, especially with regard to its effects on young people. This study investigates how young people in Tomohon, Indonesia, perceive and behave in response to online gambling ads via Instagram influencers (selebgram). The goal of this study was to find out how young people's attitudes and comprehension of the legal ramifications of online gambling are influenced by their exposure to gambling advertisements on social media. Twenty young people between the ages of 18 and 25 participated in in-depth interviews and focus groups as part of a qualitative research approach, which also included a content analysis of Instagram posts endorsing online gambling. According to the study, a sizable percentage of participants (75%) had encountered online gambling ads, and 60% said they would like to try it out despite their lack of knowledge about the potential legal repercussions. Furthermore, it was discovered that young people's views of online gambling as an enjoyable and possibly lucrative pastime were influenced by their frequent usage of social media and the favorable representation of gambling by influencers. The study comes to the conclusion that in order to inform young people about the dangers and potential legal repercussions of online gambling, there is an urgent need for more legal literacy and focused awareness initiatives. Furthermore, to stop the marketing of online gambling on social media platforms, stricter regulations are needed.

Abstract

This study attempts to examine the important role of three Laweyan warriors in the development of the Pajang Duchy under the Hadiwijaya government. The research uses historical methods. The collection of sources was mainly carried out using traditional historiography, namely Babad. The analysis used a hermeneutic and political culture approach. Hermeneutics was used primarily to find the message contained in the narrative of the Babad as a literary worship. On the other hand, political culture was carried out to analyze the behavior of historical figures from the perspective of Javanese knightly ethics. The results show that politically, the three warriors from Laweyan, namely Ki Ageng Penjawi, Ki Ageng Pemanahan, and Ki Juru Mertani, found it easy to have a career in the Pajang Duchy because of the good relationship between Ki Ageng Henis and Hadiwijaya. However, it did not make them self-indulgent. The three Laweyan warriors showed their abilities, so they were worthy of being trusted to become military leaders of the Pajang Duchy. The milestones they achieved were defeating Arya Penangsang and making the Pajang Duchy a Sultanate. The achievement developed their careers into Dukes with territories in Pati and Mataram.

Abstract

Indonesia has 718 regional languages. Bantik is one of the regional languages used by people in North Sulawesi. However, the results of expert research show that the Bantik language is in an endangered status. The threat of extinction of a language is a serious problem that needs attention from various parties, including the government, education practitioners, researchers and the user community itself. The rapid development of the era of globalization and modernization threatens the existence of minority languages, including the Bantik language. Then how are the efforts to maintain it to prevent or even solve this problem? The purpose of this study is to identify and explore how the existence of the Bantik language is through the efforts of the user community itself. The data for this study were collected using survey techniques with research instruments in the form of questionnaires, interviews, and direct observation. Data were analyzed qualitatively. The research location at this stage includes 4 sub-districts in the Malalayang area. The results of the study show that the Bantik people in the Malalayang area are concentrated in one community living side by side and still maintaining their culture. But in terms of the use of Bantik language in everyday life, only among the elderly, while among young people and children no longer use Bantik language. The results of observations on the use of Bantik language in groups that are still active show that the use of Bantik language is mixed with Manado Malay. Judging from the structure of society, 85% are Christian, and many religious activities are carried out every day. This can be used as a facility to foster motivation to use Bantik language through these activities. Abstract

The reign of Amangkurat I (1646–1677) in the Islamic Mataram Kingdom was marked by significant internal and external political conflicts that shaped the trajectory of the kingdom. Internally, the centralized and authoritarian policies of Amangkurat I sparked discontent among court nobles and regional leaders, leading to rebellions and power struggles within the kingdom. Externally, the kingdom faced pressures from expanding European colonial powers, particularly the Dutch East India Company (VOC), which exploited internal divisions to strengthen their influence. This study examines the dynamics of these conflicts, their causes, and their impacts on the stability and governance of the Mataram Kingdom. The findings highlight the interplay between internal factionalism and external intervention, which ultimately contributed to the weakening of Mataram’s sovereignty during this turbulent period.

Abstract

Language is an arbitrary system of sound symbols used by members of social groups to cooperate, communicate and identify themselves. Every country has its own language, which can be used as the country's national identity. Indonesia , has a variety of regional languages that must be preserved, in addition to the Indonesian language, because the diversity of regional languages in Indonesia is a distinctive feature of the Indonesian nation. The Tontemboan language belongs to the language group in the northern part of Indonesia and is a sub-group of the Philippine language family. In essence, the Tontemboan language has two dialectical variations namely Makela'i and Matana'i. It takes effort and hard work to reconstruct documents concerning the Tontemboan language, more specifically regarding frasem in the Tontemboan language with two dialectal variations, namely Makela'i and Matana'i. Frasem patterns in the Tontemboan language are important to study, because frasem as a series of words can be found in every expression, proverb, saying, idiom, collocation, and compound word, all of which can be an interesting picture to master. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative by referring to Bogdan and Taylor's view of qualitative research. According to Bogdan and Taylor, qualitative research is a research procedure that is able to produce descriptive data in the form of speech, writing, and behavior of the people observed. The novelty result of this research is the description of patterns and categories of phrases in the Tontemboan language, which meet the criteria of polylexicality, sharpness, and idiomaticity. This has never been done in previous research.

Abstract

In this work, the Minahasan philosophy 'Si Tou Timou Tumou Tou,':] Man lives to humanize others is an initial building block in exploring children's faith development in Modern society. Tomohon was chosen as the research setting to investigate the factors that foster spirituality in children through parental pastoral care and community involvement. The method employed in the study is non-experimental since the participants' responses in the students' interviews and observations are used to explain the challenges and opportunities in cultivating the children's faith. In the study, the darkness tries to harm children through technology and peer pressure, but this Si Tou Timou Tumou Tou philosophy signifies how parents can help children's spirits. ST 1 The findings, therefore, support the Minahasan philosophy of involving the parents to spend time with the child and the family by worshipping, eating together, and having family fun. Last and most significantly, the community, particularly the church, for this particular study is also revealed by effectively supporting parental spiritual care by offering the proper framework suitable for children's faith development. Given the facts elicited in this research study, intervention strategies for children's faith development could call for the use of traditional practices, parents, and community as a way of helping in the faith development of children. This work contributes to the existing body of knowledge by understanding how Indigenous philosophies can be applied within spiritual education and how the Community interface affects children's spirituality in the contemporary world.
