Abstract

The flood disaster that occurred at the end of 2025 in Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh Province, had a significant impact on the fulfillment of basic needs in rural communities, particularly in relation to housing conditions, access to clean water, environmental health, and socio-economic activities. Such emergency conditions require a rapid, coordinated, and needs-based response. This article aims to describe the implementation of a Disaster Emergency Community Service Program conducted by Universitas Teuku Umar with funding support from the Directorate of Research and Community Service, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. The community service activities were carried out in Drien Tujoh Village, Tripa Makmur District, as well as Blang Meurandeh, Kuta Tengoh, Blang Puuk, and Babah Suak Villages in Beutong Ateuh Banggalang District. The implementation employed a rapid response approach based on field needs, encompassing needs assessment, coordination with village authorities, procurement of aid, and direct distribution to affected communities. The assistance provided included food logistics, basic household necessities, and emergency-support technologies such as generators, water pumps, clean water distribution facilities, and field communication devices. The results indicate that the program contributed positively to meeting basic community needs during the emergency response phase and early post-disaster recovery. The distribution of aid and supporting technologies helped maintain access to clean water, support the continuity of social activities, and strengthen the capacity of village institutions in coordinating disaster response efforts. This program highlights the strategic role of higher education institutions in disaster management through a collaborative, responsive, and context-based approach. The program outputs include increased community empowerment, mass media publications, impact videos, and a scholarly article published in a community service journal.

Abstract

This community service program aims to provide education and assistance to the keumamah producers in Deah Raya Village, City of Banda Aceh, to develop a sustainable business model that integrates circular economy principles using the approach of Business Model Canvas (BMC). The activities commenced with a preliminary survey involving observations and interviews, followed by educational sessions and focus group discussions (FGDs). The next stage consisted of workshops on preparing a business model using the BMC framework, and the final activity was output socialization and dissemination. The results of the program produced a visual BMC canvas consisting of nine building blocks that had integrated circular economy principles. These were reflected, among others, in the inclusion of compost fertilizer as a by-product derived from production waste processing, which added value to environmentally friendly keumamah products; agropreneurs as one of the market segments; and an additional revenue stream from compost fertilizer sales. The business model is expected to help the business actors of keumamah fish in Deah Raya Village operate their business sustainably, increase the economic value of their products, and reduce negative environmental impacts.

Abstract

The Community Service Activity (PkM) is an integral part of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, which aims to apply academic knowledge for the welfare of society. This PkM was conducted on May 21, 2025, at the Cultural Heritage Site of the National Hero Teuku Umar’s Tomb in West Aceh, as part of the 10th National Sociology Conference attended by sociology lecturers from various universities across Indonesia. The program aimed to preserve the historical site while strengthening the social and ecological values of the surrounding community through environmental revitalization and tree planting activities. The approach used was a problem-solving method with stages of preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The results showed improvements in environmental cleanliness and aesthetics, as well as active community participation in preserving the site. Beyond ecological benefits, the activity fostered social cohesion and collective awareness of cultural heritage preservation. Academically, this PkM serves as tangible evidence of the Tri Dharma implementation and demonstrates sociology’s practical contribution in addressing social challenges and supporting sustainable local development.

Abstract

The low learning interest of students with special needs remains a major challenge in inclusive education. This condition is further compounded by the limited skills of teachers in implementing differentiated learning and utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI). This community service activity aims to enhance teachers' skills in differentiated learning and AI utilization to foster the learning interest of students with special needs, while also providing innovative learning media relevant to their needs. The activity was conducted from July to November 2025 at SLB Negeri Meulaboh, involving 25 teachers through counseling and education, training, and mentoring methods. The materials covered an understanding of learning interest, differentiated learning strategies, and the application of AI in adaptive learning. The results indicated a 25% increase in teachers' understanding of learning interest and differentiated learning, a 50% improvement in teachers' skills in utilizing AI, and a 25% increase in the learning interest of students with special needs. The innovative learning media produced also proved effective in supporting a learning process better suited to students' individual characteristics. This activity successfully demonstrated that strengthening teachers' skills through AI and differentiated learning has a meaningful impact on improving the learning interest of students with special needs.

Abstract

Due to the low level of entrepreneurial literacy and the poor usage of environmentally friendly local resources among women's organizations in Sintang Regency, this community service project was prompted by the need to improve the situation. Thru the use of green product concepts, this program intends to improve participants' manufacturing capacities, company management skills, and digital marketing abilities. Examples of the tactics that are utilized include hands-on demonstrations, mentorship that encourages participation, and business coaching that is based on digital marketing practices. The findings suggest that there was an improvement in knowledge by 87% and skills by 83%, in addition to the fact that the level of active partner participation in the production system reached 84%. Additionally, the capacity for digital marketing increased by 86%, which is evidence of the efficacy of a practice-based approach. This activity makes a contribution to the development of strategies for environmentally responsible business practices that are based on a circular economy. As a result, the participatory approach has been demonstrated to be effective in enhancing the economic autonomy of communities, particularly among the residents of Nasyiatul Aisyiyah in Sintang Regency.

Abstract

Speaking proficiency remains a significant challenge for secondary school students due to limited vocabulary mastery, low self-confidence, and insufficient opportunities for authentic oral practice. This article reports the implementation of an English Speaking Club program designed through a project-based approach to strengthen students’ speaking competence through gradual digital content production over four weeks. The program employed a descriptive qualitative framework involving classroom observation, guided mentoring sessions, and analysis of students’ outputs in the form of videos and podcasts. The instructional sequence was progressively structured, covering self-introduction and daily activities, hobbies and future career aspirations, school description in a podcast format, and storytelling performance. The findings indicate observable improvement in fluency, pronunciation clarity, confidence in public performance, organization of ideas, and expressive delivery. The transformation extended beyond linguistic development to include affective growth, particularly in students’ willingness to communicate spontaneously. The content-production-based approach fostered active participation and created meaningful learning experiences by positioning students as producers of authentic communicative performances. This program demonstrates potential as an alternative model for contextual and practice-oriented speaking instruction aimed at sustaining communicative competence development in secondary education settings.

Abstract

Kickboxing performance training in Ngawi Regency still faces obstacles such as conventional, non-scientific training, limited World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO) standard coaching licenses, and weak organizational governance. This Collaborative PKM program aims to lay the foundation for long-term coaching through sports science interventions, coaching clinics, and governance assistance. The implementation method is carried out through three stages: preparation (coordination and module development), implementation (pre-test, periodization and injury management workshops, and practical clinics), and evaluation (post-test and formalization of partnerships). The evaluation results showed a significant increase in the cognitive capacity of coaches with an average increase in total understanding reaching 66.2%. The highest increase was achieved in the material on Sports Injury Prevention and Treatment (PPC) at 84.3%, which successfully reconstructed the conventional paradigm towards a scientific POLICE protocol. In addition, understanding of the Periodization & LTAD aspects increased by 61.9% and WAKO Technical Regulations increased by 55.1%. As a sustainability plan, this program produced a sports science-based Physical Training and Basic Techniques Guide Module and the signing of an Implementation Agreement (IA) with the Ngawi KBI Regency Government. In conclusion, this Collaborative PKM program effectively increased the instructional capacity of trainers and created a blueprint for standardizing training curricula to boost Ngawi Regency's Kickboxing achievements at the regional and national levels.
