There are many applications of e-learning used for online learning in Indonesian education setting to date, but one of the most frequently used by the teachers is Zoom application. Speaking in English via Zoom, students certainly experience various obstacles. Each student has different psychological condition, where some students can speak English via Zoom confidently and some students also cannot speak English via Zoom because they are shy or nervous. This study aimed to discover the level of students’ speaking anxiety and identify factors to contribute the speaking anxiety in an EFL classroom via Zoom. This study used a mixed method research design to answer the problem of the study. Twenty seven (27) students of English Education Department of IAIN Kendari and purposive sampling was used in which the respondents that were being selected for the interview were seven students who study using e-learning, especially Zoom and students that have higher level of speaking anxiety. The instruments used for this study were FLCAS (Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale) questionnaire and interview concerning speaking anxiety via Zoom. Due to the pandemic that is currently happening, the questionnaire was administrated online and interview was done through voice call and had been recorded under permission. From 33 items of FLCAS questionnaire answered by 27 students to find the speaking anxiety level, this study found that there were 4 students (14.81%) who were in “Very Anxious” level, 8 students (29.63%) were in “Anxious” level and most students in which 11 students (40.74%) experienced “Mildly Anxious” level of speaking anxiety in the use Zoom. After finding out seven students who have highest level of speaking anxiety, interview was conducted with six items to find out factors contribute speaking anxiety and there were four factors which were found in the study, they are; speaking in front of the class, being laughed at by friends, teacher’s personality and attitude and students’ beliefs about English

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of adding seaweed to feed in reducing fat and cholesterol levels in broiler chickens. This type of research is experimental. This research method used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments with three replications. The treatments given were Ration without the addition of seaweed (K), R1 (Ration with the addition of seaweed 7 %), R2 (Ration with the addition of 9% seaweed), and R3 (Ration with the addition of 11%). The parameters observed were a decrease in meat fat content, a decrease in cholesterol levels, and the live weight of broiler chickens. Fat content was measured using the Soxhlet method, and cholesterol levels were measured using the Esey Touch GCU. The data analysis technique used is the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) at the confidence level = 0.05; if the ANOVA results show a significant difference, proceed with Duncan's further test. The results showed that adding seaweed to the feed reduced broiler chickens' fat and cholesterol levels. Treatment with the addition of 7% seaweed reduced the fat content of the meat and cholesterol levels in broiler chickens and did not reduce the live weight of broiler chickens. Meanwhile, the 9% and 11% treatments reduced meat fat content, cholesterol levels, and reduced live weight of broiler chickens. So it can be concluded that the addition of 7% seaweed proved effective in reducing broiler chickens' fat and cholesterol levels.

Abstract

This study aims to determine: 1) the effect of giving rewards and punishment partially and simultaneously on improving the quality of education and 2) the variables that have a dominant influence on improving the quality of education. The variables in this study are reward as the first independent variable (X1), punishment as the second independent variable (X2) and quality of education as the dependent variable (Y). The population in this study were all students at SMK Negeri 1 Makassar, totaling 1400 students consisting of 415 male students and 985 female students with a total of 40 groups. The sampling technique used purposive sampling technique, the sample was based on interests and limitations so that it takes 5% of the entire population, namely 70 students. The data collection technique used was a questionnaire and relevant school document data. Data analysis techniques used qualitative descriptive analysis with percentages, instrument tests, classical assumption tests and hypothesis testing. Instrument test consists of validity test and reliability test. The classic assumption test consists of a normality test, multicollinearity test, autocorrelation test and heteroscedasticity test. The hypothesis test consists of multiple linear regression, simultaneous test (F test), multiple determination coefficient (R2), partial test (t test) and partial determination coefficient ( r2). The results of this study indicate that giving rewards partially has a significant effect on improving the quality of education with a significant level <0.05 and punishment partially has a significant effect on the quality of education with a significant level <0.05. Giving reward and punishment simultaneously has a significant effect on the quality of education with a significant level of <0.05, and the coefficient of determination (R2) is 0.547 (54.7%) which means that the effect of reward and punishment on the quality of education is 54. 7% while the remaining 45.3 is influenced by factors that have not been studied.

Based on the perspectives of the students, this study sought to identify what factors may contribute to anxiety in an English learning environment. In this case, researchers prioritize the perspectives of students who are not English majors on the anxiety they frequently experience when learning English. The researcher used a case study to conduct qualitative research. While the participants in this study were students from Muhammadiyah University in Parepare for the academic year 2021/2022, the purposive sampling technique was used to select 7 non-English department students. The chosen samples would be interviewed to obtain detailed information about the data required. The findings of this study revealed that students had many concerns about learning English. The majority of respondents also admitted that English is difficult to learn because they lack basic abilities, such as a lack of vocabulary and the complexity of the material learned, which can make students feel confused and difficult to learn English. Furthermore, comments from other friends, such as the incorrect pronunciation of English vocabulary, affect their feelings. Abstract

Abstract There is a growing interest in researching A Directed Motivational Current or DMC this current period. The interest arose considering that DMC is the newest, unique and phenomenal motivational piece that embodies and elicits very positive and powerful motivational experiences which is constructed individuals or groups to achieve worthy goals with incredible speed, included learning English as the second language (L2). A DMC qualitatively is different from the ongoing motivation of a good students, cause of is relatively short-term, highly intense burst of motivational energy and along with a specific way of a clearly defined destination. A DMC research was popularized less than a decade ago (Dörnyei, Ibrahim & Muir, 2015; Dörnyei, Muir & Ibrahim, 2014; Henry, Davydenko & Dörnyei, 2015; Muir & Dörnyei, 2013) that has been popular in every research conducted in several countries, including in Indonesia EFL tertiary students, although the number found is still small. We started by providing an overview of the structure of the DMC itself, the nature of DMC introducing by Dornyei, who stated that having the nature of DMC, experiences it, can trigger students in receiving their goal. The core dimensions, a foundation, as distinguishing from other motivation term are goal/vision orientedness, salient and facilitative structure and positive emotionality. In addition, the paths for future research in pedagogical reserach direction as an illustration to research on DMC theory also was described, where they might begin and the scope of the future research in the context of EFL students in Indonesian tertiary level. The last is to make DMC a future research agenda. This is to answer the challenges of researchers who summon experts to conduct further research related to DMC in L2, due to the lack of this research in the realm of foreign language learning. Keywords: directed motivational current/DMC, language learner motivation, Future agenda of DMC.
