Abstract

Study This aims to describe the domination class ruler to subordinate class. Research data sources This is the first time the novel Laskar Pelangi was published by Andrea Hirata by Bentang Pustaka in 2005. Type study This is descriptive qualitative. The method used was to read, note, classify, and analyze. Research results show that the novel revealed a difference in class between class rulers and subordinates, which gives birth to domination. Domination between class rulers (capital owners) and class subordination (labour) is triggered by several things, like profession, environment, and pattern of life. Race labourers are exploited because of class-decisive ruler standardization in public.

Abstract

This research explores the role of character education in reducing recidivism among former inmates, with a focus on the Class II Penitentiary in Polewali Mandar. The issue of recidivism reflects weaknesses in the rehabilitation and social reintegration of inmates, which can be addressed through character education. Character education aims to develop moral and ethical values, as well as the ability to adapt in new social environments, helping former inmates recognize and correct past mistakes. A qualitative method with a case study approach was used to collect data through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The results show that inmates who participate in character education programs exhibit positive changes in behavior and a decrease in the recidivism rate by 20-30%. The implementation of this program was successful through collaboration between correctional institutions, government, and non-governmental organizations. This research concludes that character education plays a significant role in reducing recidivism and recommends enhancing instructor training, psychosocial support, ongoing monitoring, and community collaboration for the success of the program

Abstract

This research analyzes students' critical thinking when reading exposition texts. Conducted at the Health Department of SMKN 1 Tolitoli, this qualitative research utilized observations as the data collection method to gather data relevant for this research and thematic analysis to analyze the collected data. The observation phase analyzed students' engagement with analytical exposition texts, revealing proficiency in various aspects of critical thinking, including comprehension, analysis, and evaluation. Students demonstrated the ability to recall key facts, summarize main ideas, and critically evaluate evidence to form well-supported opinions. Students emphasized the importance of activities such as careful reading, summarization, and discussion in enhancing their understanding and critical thinking abilities. The findings suggest the need for explicit instruction and support for all stages of critical reading to foster students' holistic development of critical thinking skills. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of students' critical thinking practices and provides valuable insights for educators seeking to enhance students' critical reading abilities in the context of analytical exposition texts.

Abstract

This study seeks to reveal university students' perceptions towards Grammarly website which is becoming more popular to be used by them as a medium for writing English well. As we all know, in this modern era or the 21st century, technology developments especially websites or applications have growth rapidly, and it really eases students in performing English. Grammarly is recognized as one of platform that is intended to assist students’ writing of English correctly and precisely. So, this research is focused to expose the EFL student's perception about Grammarly website whether it is positive or negative. Online closed-ended questionnaire was used in this study, and it involved 100 students only on the small-scale context. The findings demonstrated that students believed that using Grammarly would have a positive impact on their English writing in context three aspects of easiness, motivation and satisfaction, and English competence with dominant respond of strongly agree and disagree.

Abstract

This research examines the correlation among religious tourism, the use of foreign languages, and tourist motivation at Bunda Beach and Resort. The background of this research highlights the importance of information in foreign languages in religious tourism destinations which can influence tourists' experiences and motivation. The aim of this research is to understand the dynamics and factors that influence religious tourism, especially the use of Latin at Bunda Beach and Resort. The research method used is a mixed method, with data collection through questionnaires and interviews. The research results show that the use of Latin at Bunda Beach and Resort is not the main factor that attracts tourists. The main motivation of tourists to visit this place is to freshen up, pray and enjoy the religious atmosphere offered by the resort. The conclusion of this study is that although the use of Latin provides a strong religious overtone, this does not significantly influence tourist motivation. Bunda Beach and Resort management can consider adding other elements that are more attractive to general tourists.

Abstract

The teaching factory learning model has become an important strategy in enhancing students' expertise in Vocational High Schools (SMK) in South Aceh. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of this learning model in improving students' skills, particularly in the concentration of computer and network engineering expertise. The research shows that products, whether goods or services, in the teaching factory learning model play a crucial role as the main medium in delivering expertise to students. Block schedules are used to optimize resources efficiently, while Job Sheets regulate the sequence of materials to achieve the desired competencies. Supporting factors in the implementation of the teaching factory include support from school management, active student participation, and trust from the community as consumers of the products. However, some obstacles have also been identified, such as lack of socialization, suboptimal teaching staff, and limited facilities and infrastructure. Practical learning processes are conducted according to real work procedures, with a focus on student-centered learning, self-learning, and learning by doing principles. This allows students to learn through direct practice, not just theory. Thus, the teaching factory learning model at SMK in South Aceh contributes to enhancing students' expertise in the concentration of computer and network engineering.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the influence of using the Merdeka Mengajar Platform (PMM) and utilizing instructional media on the quality of education at SMP Labuhanhaji Raya, South Aceh. The research employs a quantitative approach with a correlational design. Teachers constitute the population of this study, totaling 200 individuals, from which a proportional random sample of 133 teachers was selected. Data were collected using a questionnaire. The results indicate that PMM and the use of instructional media simultaneously affect the quality of education at SMP Labuhan Haji Raya, South Aceh, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. Students who use PMM and instructional media tend to have better conceptual understanding and higher engagement levels in the learning process. Furthermore, teachers who utilize instructional media in delivering content demonstrate better skills in capturing students' attention and explaining material more effectively. This research provides important insights for educational practitioners and policymakers regarding the significance of integrating technology and instructional media to enhance the quality of education in schools. Practical implications of this study include recommendations for enhancing teacher training in utilizing instructional media and developing teaching strategies that integrate PMM with existing instructional methods.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran discovery learning terhadap hasil belajar IPA Siswa Kelas VII SMP Negeri 35 Kota Makassar. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian quasi eksperimen yang melibatkan dua kelompok dimana salah satu berperan sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan yang lain sebagai kelompok kontrol. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 35 Kota Makassar Tahun Pelajaran 2020/2021, dan dipilih dua kelas sebagai sampel penelitian secara purposive sampling. Kelas yang dipilih sebagai sampel penelitian adalah kelas VII.1 sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan kelas VII.2 sebagai kelompok kontrol. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dengan lembar observasi dan dianalisis dengan menggunakan statistik deskriptif serta tes hasil belajar sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran dan dianalisis dengan menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan statistik inferensial. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa nilai signifikansi hasil belajar lebih kecil dari 0,05 (α <0,05). Sehingga berdasarkan hasil pengujian hipotesis dengan menggunakan uji paired sample t-test diperoleh thitung lebih besar dari ttable (19,121 > 2,055), dengan taraf signifikan kurang dari 5% (0,000 < 0,05). Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa ada pengaruh model pembelajaran discovery learning terhadap hasil belajar siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 35 Kota Makassar.

Abstract

Teachers’ strictness has a role in shaping students' learning and has become an extensive research subject of education. This research is focused on teachers' strictness, which impacts the students' engagement, academic achievements, and emotions. Findings showed that the balancing of approach where strictness, support, and clear communication can impact the students' achievement and their behavioral development positively. The method of strict discipline may lead to the effect of decreased motivation, lower engagement, and increased anxiety. For example, research highlights that strict class management can enhance short-term compliance, otherwise, this matter destroys long-term educational achievement, except if it is combined with the nurture of the relationship between teacher and students. Furthermore, the education strategy that interprets discipline and empathy is recommended to foster a conducive environment for the development of the students holistically. These findings underlined the complexity of the effectiveness of the teacher which advocates a nuanced approach of discipline that supports academic rigor and emotional support.

Abstract

Writing a thesis proposal is an important part of undergraduate education. However, many students face difficulties in writing a thesis proposal, such as selecting an appropriate topic and systematic preparation. In technological developments, ChatGPT can help students in the process of writing a thesis proposal by providing writing assistance, critical thinking, and other information. This research aims to gain the perception and challenges of students in using ChatGPT in assisting them writing their thesis proposals. To get to these aims, the researcher implemented a research and development design by using qualitative methods.. This research was conducted at Al Asyariah Mandar University . The subjects of this research were the seventh semester students of Mathematic Education and Bahasa Indonesia Education in the academic year 2023-2024. In this study, students will be interviewed and asked to share their experiences, the effectiveness and challenges on the assistance of chatgpt in writing their thesis proposals. In the interview results, ChatGPT helps users in finding thesis proposal titles, give information and ideas in building introductions, and providing alternative solutions to deepen the understanding of the proposal. It is important to consider and verify information with more reliable and accurate sources. The use of ChatGPT in writing thesis proposals is an interesting and effective alternative, but users also need to remain critical and selective in utilizing it. In further research, more interviews and case studies need to be conducted to obtain a more comprehensive understanding of the use of ChatGPT in writing thesis proposals. Although ChatGPT has limitations, respondents consider its use to improve productivity and learning efficiency. Therefore, the use of ChatGPT can be considered as an attractive alternative in writing thesis proposals, while maintaining a critical approach in utilizing it and verifying the information provided.
