The role of teachers is crucial in facilitating active participation and creating an inclusive learning environment. The implications of this research highlight the need for continuous adaptation of teaching strategies to address diverse student needs, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of civic education and fostering responsible, engaged citizens.

Abstract

Local traditions that persist amid changing times reflect deep social meanings embedded in cultural practices. One such tradition is Sewu Sempol, a grave-offering ritual carried out by the people of Hamlet Masin, Kandangmas Village, Kudus, every last Thursday of the month of Ruwah (Sya'ban). This study aims to describe the implementation of the tradition and analyze it using Max Weber’s theory of social action. The research method used is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. Data analysis techniques include data collection, data reduction, presentation of findings, and drawing conclusions. Data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews with community leaders and local residents, as well as visual documentation. Data sources were obtained from active participants in the tradition and relevant literature. The findings show that people carry out this tradition as traditional action, since it is inherited through generations; as goal-oriented action, in hope of safety and blessings; as value-oriented action, because it is considered morally and spiritually noble; and as affective action, driven by emotions of gratitude and reverence for ancestors. These four types of social action form a complex social meaning behind the preservation of the Sewu Sempol tradition within the community.

The purpose of this study was to test the effectiveness of interactive History teaching materials based on local wisdom to improve the cultural understanding of high school students in Kerinci Regency. The data collection techniques used were observation, questionnaire and written test. The results showed that the interactive History teaching materials were able to improve students' cultural understanding. obtained a significance value (p-value) of 0.001 and 0.000, which are both smaller than the significant level of 0.05 (0.001 < 0.05 and 0.000 < 0.05). These results indicate that there is a significant difference in students' understanding of local wisdom between the experimental class using interactive history teaching materials based on local wisdom and the control class using printed books at school.

Abstract

This research investigates the effectiveness of gamification and interactive learning strategies in enhancing student engagement and language acquisition, addressing a critical gap in empirical evidence regarding their impact on motivation and achievement among language learners. Employing a qualitative approach, this study collected data through interview and classroom observations to know the students responses in using innovative method like gamification. The findings reveal that gamified elements, such as point scoring, competition, and interactive tasks, significantly boost student motivation and participation, leading to measurable improvements in language proficiency compared to traditional instructional methods. Furthermore, qualitative feedback from participants reveals that these tactics promote a more dynamic and supportive learning environment, which benefits both educators and students. Finally, the implications of this study advocate for the integration of gamification in language education curricula, suggesting that enhancing engagement through innovative teaching methods can foster greater language competency and readiness for communication challenges, influencing educational practices and policies in the field.

Abstract

Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) often face difficulties in early reading due to challenges in communication and symbol recognition. Conventional learning methods are generally ineffective for them, as they tend to learn better through visual, auditory, and kinesthetic approaches. Therefore, an innovative, interactive, and engaging learning medium is needed. One such tool is the Magnetic Alphabet Educational Game (APE), which not only aids in letter recognition and word construction but also supports the development of 21st-century skills such as communication and critical thinking. This study employs a qualitative case study approach at TK Muslimat NU VI Pamekasan to examine the effectiveness of the Magnetic Alphabet APE in enhancing the early reading skills of children with ASD aged 5–6 years. The findings show that this media significantly improves focus, letter recognition, and word-building abilities. Supporting factors include visual appeal and teacher involvement, although challenges such as limited tools and varying levels of understanding remain. This media is recommended for use in inclusive schools and at home as an effective literacy strategy for children with special needs.
