Abstract

AbstractRed snapper is a type of reef fish that has high value, so it is necessary to research on the growth pattern of red snapper to determine the growth pattern landed at PPI Lhok Bengkuang. This study aims to determine the growth pattern of red snapper landed by fishermen at PPI Lhok Bengkuang. In order to know the growth pattern of L. timoriensis through the long-weight relationship of the fish from the growth aspect of the fish's weight and length. The research was conducted in October–November 2022 at PPI Lhok Bengkuang, South Aceh District. The research method was proportional random sampling and then the data were analyzed using linear regression. The number of individual samples whose growth patterns were analyzed was 30 individuals with the type of species L. timoriensis. Total body length ranges from 22.4 cm-30.3 cm and body weight ranges from 161 grams-455 grams. The results of the regression analysis on L. timoriensis individuals obtained a regression value (b) of 0.0989391 with a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.7180290 which indicates that the weight gain is 72%. The value of b = 0.0989391 means that it is smaller than the normal b value, it is called a negative allometric growth pattern, that is, the length relationship is faster than the weight of the fish. On the growth pattern of L. timoriensis, it is necessary to carry out further research with a longer time and a larger number of samples to obtain more complete data and information.

Abstract

Monitoring the quality and condition of waters is an importantactivity to carry out, especially in coastal waters which are veryeasily contaminated and prone to pollution. The waters of PasirMayang Beach are influenced by inputs from rivers and theactivities of coastal communities, which in turn affect the waterquality and aquatic organisms. The purpose of this study was todetermine the condition of water quality using seawater qualitystandards and map them spatially. Water quality parameterssurveyed included temperature, salinity, pH, oxygen level andbrightness which were measured at 17 survey locations. Thesurvey method used was direct data measurement and the datawas grouped into tabular form using Ms. Excel 2010 and theresults were compared and matched with seawater qualitystandards stipulated by the Minister of Environment RegulationNo. 51 of 2004. Spatial distribution was carried out using ArcGIS10.4 software and interpolated using the inverse distanceweighting (IDW) method. Measurement and analysis results wereobtained for temperature parameters between 30-31.6 °C.Salinity 11.3 to 21.7 ‰. pH 7.0-7.9;DO 2.1-3.6mg/L. Based onthe research results, the following conclusions can be drawn:Some of the seawater quality of Pasir Mayang Beach still meetsthe established quality standards, including temperature and pH,so that it can be further classified according to its function. However, there are several parameters that do not meet qualitystandards, namely: Salinity, DO and Clarity. For theeDOparameter, thereeareeseverallresearchhstationssthat are stillwithin or below the quality standard.

Abstract

The destruction of mangrove forests reduces forest area and mangrove plant species. Mangrove forest restoration requires seeds with good growth and are resistant to pests and diseases. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of NPK fertilizer application on mangrove seedlings growth in the Hydraquent Garden media at the Aceh Jaya Mangrove Institute Foundation. The research was conducted on September 2022. The tools and materials used in this research were R. apiculata mangrove seeds, soil hydraquent, meter, tools, cutter, wood stake, refractometer, and thermometer. This research used a descriptive method in which it only took the average value of mangrove seedlings growth. There were four types of observations given to mangrove seedlings, namely T0 (no fertilizer), T1 (giving 3 gr of fertilizer), T2 (6 gr), T3 (9 gr) and T4 (12 gr). Based on observations, NPK fertilizer on Hydraquent soil was proven to increase plant height and number of leaves.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the largest shark and ray producing countries in the world. Based on FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) data, Indonesia is the top country which produce plenty of sharks and rays every year. One of the stingray shark caught by the fishermen called ikan pari kekeh (kekeh stingray), data from the IUCN( International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources)  this ray is included in Red List and categorized in Appendix II CITES (Convention on international trade of endangered species) due to excessive fishing. In most cases, the identification of kekeh ray is not easy because the information and conservation data are very limited. This study was conducted to identify the species of kekeh stingray landed at Rigaih Fish Landing Port, Aceh Jaya Regency using the COI gene (Cytochrome c oxidase subunit I) molecular analysis.  Sampling was carried out in June 2021 and then analysed at Indonesian Biodiversity Foundation (BIONESIA) laboratory. The analysis results were adjusted to GenBank data via BLAST (Basic Local Alignment Search Tools). The results of the analysis found per value. The ident of 10 samples ranged around 99-100% each and the query qover value each sample is 100%. The farthest genetic distance value is 0.34. The phylogenetic tree managed to classify species from each sample and form a cluster together with the data obtained from the NCBI genbank

Abstract

The development of novel chemical entities, novel pharmaceuticals, and novel drug leads frequently involves the use of natural sources. One of the most well-known plants, Pandanus odoratissimus (Pandanaceae), is native to Malaysia and has long been used in Ayurvedic medicine to treat a variety of illnesses. The purpose of this study is to determine P odoratissimus's antioxidant and anticancer properties against MCF-7 human breast cancer cell lines. The 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging activity was used to assess antioxidant activity, and among the other extracts, core exhibited the highest antioxidant value. An MTT assay was used to assess the effects of plant components on MCF-7 cell lines (3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazolyl)-2, 5-diphenyl-tetrazolium bromide). The concentration of samples was shown to considerably boost the antioxidant activities in P. odoratissimus extracts. Our findings demonstrated that, after receiving treatment for 72 hours, sample treated cancer cells experienced a decline in cell viability. The IC50 value of 88.00 mg/ml indicates that the extracts have a poor cytotoxic impact and have no promise as anticancer agents against MCF-7, which is why it’s killing efficiency in cancer cells is regarded as lower.

Abstract

The city of Cilegon has a variety of marine tourism destinations, one of which is Merak Kecil Island. The waters around Merak Kecil Island are known for offering a beach and sea atmosphere. In addition, visitors can enjoy a number of facilities such as boat tours, fishing, snorkeling, and enjoying the sights of ships passing by. Related to this, it will have the potential to affect the environmental conditions of Merak Kecil Island, especially the fertility of the waters. The fertility of a waters is influenced by nutrients (nitrate, nitrite, phosphate). Nitrate, nitrite and phosphate act as limiting factors for the growth of organisms and water fertility. This study aims to determine the differences in content and the relationship between nitrate, nitrite and phosphate content and compared with Government Regulation no. 22 of 2021 and ANZECC & ARMCANZ (2000). The research method uses a descriptive method with a quantitative approach while the selection of sampling locations uses a purposive sampling method. Required environmental parameters were taken in situ and air samples were analyzed at the Fish and Environmental Health Testing Center (BPKIL) Serang, Banten. The results showed that there were less significant differences in the content of nitrate, nitrite, and phosphate. The nitrate content exceeded the quality standard, but nitrite and phosphate were not detected.
