Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between interpersonal conflict and anxiety levels among university students. The research employed a quantitative method with a correlational approach. A total of 176 active students voluntarily participated in completing the online questionnaires using the Interpersonal Conflict Scale and the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI). The results of validity and reliability tests indicated that both the interpersonal conflict scale and the anxiety scale met the criteria for valid and reliable measurement. The assumption test showed that the data were not normally distributed; therefore, Spearman’s rank-order correlation was used for the analysis. The findings revealed a strong and significant positive relationship between interpersonal conflict and anxiety levels (r = 0.868; p < 0.05). Furthermore, simple linear regression analysis showed that interpersonal conflict contributed 62.8% to the variation in students’ anxiety levels. These findings highlight that interpersonal conflict is significantly associated with students’ anxiety.

Abstract

Early adulthood is a stage when individuals often initiate romantic relationships, including interethnic dating, which is increasingly common in Indonesia. These relationships face unique challenges, with jealousy being a key issue that can lead to aggression. This study examines the effect of jealousy on aggression in interethnic dating relationships. Using a quantitative approach with a regression analysis design, data were collected from 211 individuals in interethnic relationships through incidental sampling. The Multidimensional Jealousy Scale (MJS) and Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire (BPAQ) were used to assess jealousy and aggression, respectively. Data analysis using ANOVA regression showed that jealousy significantly influences aggression (t = 2.609, p = 0.010), indicating that higher jealousy levels are associated with increased aggression. These findings highlight the need for interventions to manage jealousy in interethnic couples to reduce aggressive behavior. Future studies are encouraged to explore strategies for fostering healthy and harmonious interethnic romantic relationships in Indonesia.

Abstract

Education is an important thing that can improve and develop individual potential, so it takes an effort to achieve everything. If students who study while working do not have good grit skills, it will have a negative impact on their academic resilience. This study aims to determine the relationship between grit and academic resilience in students who study while working. This research adopts a quantitative method involving 379 respondents in the JABODETABEK area. The measuring instrument used in this study were the grit scale and the academic resilience scale (ARS-30). The analysis method in this study uses the Spearman rank-order correlation test, because the data obtained in this study were not normally distributed. The research findings indicate a significant positive correlation between grit and academic resilience (p = 0.000) with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.496. Thus, it can be concluded that higher levels of grit correspond to increased academic resilience among students who study while working.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the role of parental attachment and self-esteem on adolescent depression with suicidal tendencies. A quantitative approach was used with simple linear regression and multiple linear regression analysis. Subjects totaled 100 adolescents aged 15 and 21 years who had thoughts of ending life. The results of the first hypothesis analysis showed a significant effect of parental attachment on depression by 41.9% with the acquisition of the calculated t value of -8.141 and a significance value of 0.00. The results of the second hypothesis test regarding the effect of self-esteem on depression get a t value of -9.116 and a significance value of 0.00, which means that self-esteem has a significant influence on depression with a large influence of 56.4%. While testing the third hypothesis which gets the calculated f value of 62.740 and the R-squared value of 0.564 implies that 56.4% of adolescent depression with suicidal tendencies is influenced by parental attachment and self-esteem, while the remaining 43.6% is influenced by other variables.

Abstract

Conflict often occurs in romantic relationships during early adulthood, which can lead to relationship failure. Forgiveness is an essential component in repairing romantic relationships affected by conflict. One factor that may influence an individual's willingness to forgive is the quality of the relationship, particularly the presence of interpersonal trust. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between interpersonal trust and forgiveness among dating individuals in the Gadingrejo District. This study employed a quantitative research method and used purposive sampling to select participants. The sample consisted of 392 individuals currently in romantic relationships, residing in the Gadingrejo District. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rho correlation technique, which revealed a highly significant negative relationship, with a correlation coefficient of -0.459 and p = 0.000 (p < 0.001). This indicates that the higher the level of interpersonal trust, the lower the level of forgiveness toward one's partner. Interpersonal trust contributed an effective value of 10.9% to forgiveness.

Abstract

TikTok has become a significant part of digital life, particularly among the younger generation. The platform influences how individuals perceive themselves and others through content consumption and social comparison. This study aims to further analyze how UTS students engage in self-comparison when consuming TikTok content in shaping their self-image. A qualitative approach was employed, using in-depth interviews with active TikTok users. The findings indicate that most UTS students, representing Generation Z, demonstrate strong evaluative abilities, especially in accurately assessing opinions and skills. Although TikTok content has the potential to influence perceptions of social values and self-image, the participants were able to remain critical and selective. Positive perceptions were more dominant, with content often seen as a source of inspiration and motivation. Participants also exhibited healthy patterns of social comparison, including upward comparison as a source of motivation, downward comparison as a means of reflection and gratitude, and comparison with similar individuals to form a realistic and positive self-image. Thus, content consumption and social comparison on TikTok serve as mechanisms of self-evaluation that support the development of a healthy self-image in the digital media era.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between the Big Five personality dimensions and the level of stress caused caused by financial problem among employees. Financial stress refers to difficulties in meeting basic needs, leading to emotional strain, while the personality traits include Neuroticism, Extraversion, Openness, Agreeableness, and Conscientiousness. A quantitative cross-sectional method was used, involving a minimum of 100 active employees aged 20–56, selected through purposive sampling based on Slovin’s formula (? = 0.10). Personality traits were measured using the NEO-PI-R, and financial stress was assessed using the Financial Stress Scale developed by Heo et al. (2020). Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression analyses revealed that Neuroticism had the strongest association with financial stress (r = 0.645; p < 0.05), followed by Conscientiousness (r = 0.583), Openness (r = 0.417), Agreeableness (r = 0.340), and Extraversion (r = 0.211). This Study indicates that the higher the tendency toward neuroticism, the greater the perceived financial stress, while the higher the aspect of extraversion in an individual, the lower the perceived impact of financial stress.
