Abstract

Stunting is a health issue that impacts children on a local, national, and international scale. High rates of early marriage are directly associated to the prevalence of stunting in Indonesia. Children in early childhood who marry and become pregnant without the knowledge, mental and financial readiness to become good mothers pose a grave threat to the quality of the future human resources. The problem of stunting is influenced not only by a single element, but also by multiple factors, the most significant of which is the fulfillment of nutrient needs, particularly protein, in this case through fish consumption. This community service project aims to provide counseling or instruction on the significance of fish nutrition in preventing stunting, as well as teach participants how to make cookies from wet anchovies. This method of community service is counseling, which consists of multiple stages, including preparation, distribution of materials, pre- and post-testing, explanation of method to make anchovy cookies, and tasting fish-based processed foods together. From the findings of the pretest given by the speaker to the respondents, 50% of the respondents consumed around 200 g of fish on the day of counseling, and 100% of the respondents were motivated to consume fish following the counseling. In addition to emphasizing the significance of consuming fish on a regular basis for proper nutrition, the presenters demonstrated how to make anchovy cookies as an alternative snack for children. The outcome of this service activity is that the respondents are enthusiastic and inspired by the knowledge offered by the presenters, and are interested in preparing anchovy-based cookies at home.

Abstract

Increasing the potential of the local economy can be done through the involvement of productive age communities, namely youth who are members of the youth organization. Karang Taruna is a social organization as a forum and means of development for every member of the community, growing based on social awareness and responsibility from, for and on behalf of the community, especially the village or sub-district youth generation. A youth organization that is part of the youth group "Singo Joyo" in Jedong Village, Wagir District, Malang Regency. One of the activities carried out by the youth organization "Singo Joyo" is the cultivation of ornamental fish Channa sp. or better known as ornamental cork fish, and betta fish. The purpose of this activity is to increase the knowledge and skills of the "Singo Joyo" youth group regarding the application of management of freshwater ornamental fish farming, the application of natural feed production techniques (Daphnia sp., and silk worms) as the main natural food for freshwater ornamental fish larvae, and implementation of water quality management based on recirculation systems. The method for implementing this internal community service program (PPMI) is carried out using a training and mentoring method approach related to the implementation of freshwater ornamental fish farming management and water quality management. The results of PPMI activities are increasing the knowledge and skills of the "Singo Joyo" youth group partners in implementing good management of freshwater ornamental fish farming, partners are able to increase the percentage of production to 60% from before the activity which was 30%. The conclusion from this activity is that partners are able to implement freshwater ornamental fish production management so that production capacity increases by up to 60%.

Abstract

Elections are the collective aspiration of the people, as a sacred and honorable event. Violations committed by individuals who, by the rules of their profession, are responsible for upholding the dignity of the democratic process, make it challenging to achieve a dignified selection of leaders. The fact remains that during the 2019 elections, there were more than 16,000 election violations, resulting in 345 criminal verdicts related to elections, handled by the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) throughout Indonesia. Therefore, the youth are at the forefront in reducing the number of election violations and should be equipped with knowledge and understanding of electoral matters. Hence, we believe it is necessary to optimize the role of youth as a conscious generation for peaceful elections, to better understand the forms of actions that constitute election violations, in order to reduce the number of election violations in Indonesia. This service is carried out through the method of legal outreach, which involves providing explanations about various legal provisions related to prohibited actions during elections and the potential punishments for anyone who violates them. This outreach is conducted through the delivery of materials and discussions. This service has successfully provided a comprehensive understanding of the various types of election violations, starting from administrative violations that can be committed by election participants or organizers, ethical violations that can be committed by election organizers, criminal election violations that can be committed by anyone, to other legal violations that are specifically related to electoral matters, such as the neutrality of civil servants or military/police personnel. All of these violations are handled by the Election Supervisory Agency, resulting in recommendations for rectification to the relevant institutions. The activities conducted have successfully increased the knowledge of the youth regarding the importance of elections and the types of election violations that can disrupt the democratic process.

Abstract

Sangrai (Roasted) peanut is a typical product of the city of South Tangerang. There are hundreds of Sangrai peanut craftsmen producing tons of the peanuts each months. However, this product is not yet considered as an iconic food product of South Tangerang due to the lack of promotion and marketing by either the craftsmen or the sellers. The lack of trainings, workshops, and mentoring are several reasons why sangrai peanut craftsmen are still underdeveloped in the case of selling the product.Therefore, the program named improving marketing capability was carried out to improve the ability to market products digitally, using social media and e-commerce, and to make Sangrai peanuts better known to Indonesians as South Tangerang iconic product. The ultimate goal of this activity is to make Sangrai peanurs better known by Indonesians as the food icon of South Tangerang. Improving the marketing capability, especially in Keranggan ecotourism village was carried out in two steps, assisting and training. Assisting activity had been conducted three times, they are assistance in creating sales accounts in e-commerce, making logos, and creating promotional content for social media. On the other hand, the training activity was held in one day with the topic strategies and marketing techniques for Sangrai peanuts. From the implementation of the activities, several outputs were produced, including a new brand logo for package was produced, an e-commerce account which is ready to be used, and the handover supporting instruments for promotion and marketing the product. The logo has been registered to Intellectual Property Rights to avoid plagiarism. E-commerce account are created in Shopee and Tokopedia. The supporting tools are handed over including packaging presser, large cardboard boxes, and 200gram plastic packages. From these activities, we can conclude that the results of research regarding the production of Sangrai peanuts can be forwarder into a community service activity. The activity eventually can support the goal of Keranggan Ecotourism village to have Sangrai peanuts as its iconic foods.

Abstract

"Gerakan Tanam Kopi Serempak" (GERTAK) The Simultaneous Coffee Planting Movement Program (GERTAK) initiated by the Provincial Government of South Kalimantan has encouraged the rise of coffee MSMEs. The upstream and downstream sectors facilitated by the government can encourage the formation of a spirit of independence for young people in entrepreneurship. However, the problem upstream is that knowledge of coffee cultivation techniques still needs to be improved. It's due to the need for more practical literacy in coffee cultivation compared to other plantation crops, so academics must be involved in disseminating knowledge and technology to maximize their business. This activity aims to provide an understanding and practical solutions to disease attacks and soil management through IoT-based disease detection trials and surveys of soil fertility to increase coffee crop yields. Participants can use IoT-based disease detection and manage soil nutrients based on the results of the soil sampling unit. The activity was carried out through the Service-Learning approach (method). This approach uses four principles: engagement, reflection, reciprocity, and public dissemination, each reflected in problem identification activities in the region, discussion groups, field trials, and material delivery. The results of the activity showed the participants' interest in applying CNN-based Disease Detection Apps for Coffee technology. In addition, monitoring soil fertility through a soil sampling unit technique can assist farmers in providing precise and measurable fertilizers and organic matter. Material controlling plant pests and managing soil fertility are important parts that must be applied to increase coffee crop yields. Four main diseases originate from fungi that attack coffee plants, while the results of a soil fertility survey indicate that the soil is infertile. The activity evaluation results showed that the participants' satisfaction level was 68 points. The marketing aspect of finished products (ground coffee) still needs to be solved and requires training as a curation measure for MSMEs.

Abstract

Improving the quality of education in Indonesia should be carried out intensively, especially in the 3T (Frontier, Remote, and Disadvantaged) regions. One effort that can be done is Community Service activities, such as KARTU AKTIF Training (Scientific Writing and Interactive Activities). This activity was motivated by the PISA survey which stated the low reading ability index in Indonesia. Programs to improve writing skills are urgent nowadays, because according to research, there is a relationship between reading interest and writing ability. So that the students of the Komodo Island Satu Atap Junior High School can have writing and observation skills, as well as trigger a superior character, namely social awareness. In addition, students are also expected to be more accomplished in the field of writing. The number of target audiences is 57 students of Satu Atap Junior Hight School on Komodo Island, West Manggarai Regency. The steps taken include identifying problems, collecting data and information, designing materials, providing training, and carrying out evaluations. Training activities are carried out in the form of lectures in the form of delivering material on writing Observation Results Reports, then interactive activities in the form of question and answer sessions and observing certain objects accompanied by tutors, and ending with compiling Observation Reports. The training activity was carried out for two days. The first day was the presentation of material on the Observation Results Report based on the 2013 Curriculum Indonesian language material, observing objects, and preparing Observation Results Reports. On the second day, the Education Division conducted an assessment and appreciated the Observation Reports prepared by the students. After attending the training, 57.89% of the participants had an average score of 71.75 or the "good" category. 40 out of 57 participants also understood and mastered the preparation of Observation Report Texts. Other results found in the field indicated that there was a lack of understanding of the participants in rewriting the observations and understanding of linguistic rules. After attending the training, students have better skills in writing Observation Reports. But the understanding to write the results of observations needs to be improved.

Abstract

Pendidikan kewirausahaan diperlukan bagi siswa agar setelah lulus nanti mereka memiliki pemahaman tentang memulai suatu usaha. Sehingga mereka tidak terlalu bergantung pada pekerjaan di suatu instansi atau perusahaan karena memiliki kemampuan untuk menciptakan lapangan pekerjaan dengan berwirausaha. Pembelajaran kewirausahaan akan lebih efektif jika dilaksanakan melalui pendekatan learning by doing. Salah satu materi yang perlu diberikan untuk membekali siswa adalah materi tentang penyusunan proposal usaha sebagai langkah awal untuk memulai kewirausahaan. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah memberikan pemahaman tentang teknik pembuatan proposal kewirausahaan. Kegiatan ini diharapkan menjadi bekal bagi siswa di SMA Negeri 14 Samarinda jika setelah lulus nanti ingin berwirausaha. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini ada dua, yaitu metode ceramah dan metode permainan (games). Metode ceramah digunakan untuk memberikan penjelasan tentang teknik pembuatan proposal kewirausahaan. Kemudian untuk memperkuat pemahaman siswa tentang materi yang diberikan, digunakan metode permainan (games). Hasil kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman siswa dalam menyusun proposal kewirausahaan. Selain meningkatnya pemahaman tentang menyusun proposal kewirausahaan, siswa menunjukkan peningkatan keterampilan dalam menyusun proposal untuk memulai suatu usaha. Kemampuan membuat proposal kewirausahaan adalah tahap awal dalam melaksanakan kegiatan wirausaha dalam rangka mendukung kegiatan Projek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5). Melalui kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini juga memberikan pengalaman belajar yang baru kepada siswa yaitu melalui pembelajaran dalam bentuk permainan (games) teka teki silang yang memunculkan motivasi belajar bagi siswa pada saat proses pemberian materi proposal. Melalui kegiatan ini dapat menambah pemahaman dan keterampilan siswa dalam penyusunan proposal kewirausahaan. Kegiatan ini diharapkan mendukung Projek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila.

Abstract

Kebumen Village is a village in Baturraden District, Banyumas Regency, Central Java. The average head of family in this village is a laborer, so the family's economy was affected during the Covid-19 pandemic. So far, many residents in Kebumen Village do not yet have the skills or expertise that can become capital for entrepreneurship. However, the obstacles experienced were that there were no facilitators who provided business skills during the pandemic and there was no budget from village funds. Much of the village budget has been absorbed for the handling of Covid-19. The purpose of this activity is to provide business skills assistance for Kebumen Village PKK Cadres through training activities in making fish nuggets. Community service activities in Kebumen Village as an effort to improve the community's economy during the Covid-19 pandemic. The method of implementing the activity is Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), namely by directly practicing making fish nuggets, starting from mincing the meat, mixing the ingredients to make the nugget dough, steaming, cutting the dough, coating the dough with panir flour, to frying the nuggets ready to eat. In addition, participants were also asked to fill out a questionnaire regarding this community service activity. The results of the training activities are increasing the knowledge and skills of PKK cadres in processing modern fish products, as well as generating creative ideas to create business opportunities that are useful for increasing family income during the Covid-19 pandemic. Based on the data from the questionnaire results, it was found that all training participants benefited from the fish nugget making training. The training provided by the community service team to PKK Cadres in Kebumen Village, Baturraden District was considered very useful in increasing knowledge in processing freshwater fish into modern snacks that are worth selling. Participants were very enthusiastic in participating in the entire series of fish nugget making training activities and revealed that this activity could be an idea for doing business in the post-Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Community service is important to do in order to develop the order and standard of living of the people in an area. One of them is in Nagari Sungai Kambut where many of the residents are not yet working or not working and some are only taking care of the household. In fact, when viewed from its natural potential, the Nagari Sungai Kambut region has quite a large potential for productive land, including the home yard. Therefore, dedication is carried out in the form of assistance in optimizing the use of the home yard for planting fruits. The hope is to increase the knowledge and improve the skills of the local population. The fruit produced can also be a source of income, apart from just for self-consumption. Service activities begin with socialization, counseling and followed by assistance in planting fruit trees. Farmers are guided and assisted by the team so that when there are problems they can be immediately resolved. During the socialization, the residents actively raised various questions, both from how to plant, maintain and even post-harvest. Seeing the enthusiastic response of the community shows that this service program has been able to increase knowledge about the importance of using the home yard, especially for planting fruits. Overall, a series of community empowerment activities through planting fruits in order to optimize the use of the home yard has given positive impact on the community. Appropriate cultivation techniques will provide benefits to society by increasing crop productivity. The product can be consumed or sold and participate in protecting the environment so that it remains sustainable. The enthusiasm of community was the evidence of their high curiosity and indicator of the successfulness of this activity.

Abstract

An Indonesian government program called “Kampus Mengajar” aims to assist primary and secondary schools in overcoming many problems in the teaching system, administration, and technology adaptation experienced by students and teachers. The purposes of this study are to find out the types of problems students face when implementing the program “Kampus Mengajar” in the target schools and to find out the steps taken by students as a solution to solve the problems. The scope of this research is limited to one of the “Kampus Mengajar” target schools. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method. The research data were obtained using interviews and field notes. The respondents are six college students from different majors from different campuses in Jakarta. This study found three categories of problems faced by students in the target schools, namely: 1) problems in the field of teaching, 2) problems in the field of completeness of school administration, and 3) problems in the field of technology. This research found that the “Kampus Mengajar” program carried out by students helped students improve their learning abilities and helped teachers improve their teaching performance. The implementation of the Teaching Campus program by students is very beneficial to the target schools. Key Words: Kampus Mengajar, student’s problems, solution
