Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of preceptor roles in supporting the development of clinical competence among nursing students in Indonesia. The research background highlights the low pass rates of nursing competency examinations, which underscore challenges within the nursing education system and the need for enhanced preceptor guidance. The study aims to analyze the role of preceptors in holistically shaping clinical competence, identify factors affecting the effectiveness of preceptor roles, and explore obstacles encountered in clinical mentoring. The research methodology used surveys and statistical analysis of preceptor evaluation data across several performance components, including evaluation (KPE), planning (KPP), and implementation (KPI). The results indicate that preceptors play a positive role in supporting students' competency development, with high average scores in the KPE component, though differences in evaluation aspects require improvement. Preceptors' Major challenges include limited time, experience constraints, and the lack of clear evaluation guidelines. Supporting factors such as ongoing training, institutional support, and technology use can enhance the quality of mentoring. The implications of this research suggest that by addressing these challenges and leveraging available support factors, preceptors can improve their contribution to holistically shaping students' clinical competence. In conclusion, optimizing the role of preceptors is crucial for supporting the more comprehensive development of clinical competence in nursing students. ABSTRAK: Penelitian ini meneliti efektivitas peran preseptor dalam mendukung pengembangan kompetensi klinis di antara mahasiswa keperawatan di Indonesia. Abstract

Reproductive health and positive mental health are crucial components of adolescent girls' overall well-being, deeply interconnected and influenced by social, economic, and environmental factors. Adolescent girls face unique challenges in managing both reproductive and mental health, impacted by societal pressures, limited access to health education, and disparities in healthcare. This study aims to analyze trends, themes, and patterns in the literature related to reproductive health and positive mental health among female adolescents, using bibliometric methods to identify key focus areas, research gaps, and influential studies published between 2019 and 2024. This bibliometric analysis followed a simplified PRISMA approach involving identification, screening, and inclusion stages. An initial search identified 1,015 articles on reproductive health and positive mental health in adolescent girls (2020-2024). After abstract and title screening, 856 articles were included. Data analysis using VOSviewer allowed for the visualization of bibliometric networks, highlighting key themes and citation patterns. The analysis revealed that reproductive health education, resilience, and mental well-being are central themes, with stress and social relationships significantly influencing health behaviors. The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated challenges in accessing services, while digital solutions emerged as promising interventions. This study emphasizes the importance of integrated approaches to reproductive and mental health, providing a basis for future research and policy development to support adolescent girls' well-being.

Abstract

Climate change is increasingly recognized as a contributor to public health challenges, including the spread of infectious diseases such as tuberculosis (TB). Environmental changes, such as rising temperatures, altered precipitation patterns, and extreme weather events, can directly and indirectly influence TB transmission dynamics. Additionally, climate change exacerbates socio-economic issues like poverty, food insecurity, and displacement, further increasing vulnerability to TB. Understanding the complex relationship between climate change and TB is crucial for developing effective prevention and control strategies. This literature review explores the relationship between climate change and TB, focusing on the impact of climatic factors on TB epidemiology, transmission, and control measures. A systematic evaluation of peer-reviewed studies was conducted using databases such as Science Direct, PubMed, DOAJ, and Google Scholar. Research on climatic factors (e.g., temperature, humidity, extreme weather events) and their effects on TB transmission, as well as the socio-economic consequences of climate change, was analyzed. The PICOS framework and PRISMA guidelines were applied to ensure a comprehensive review. The findings reveal that elevated temperatures and humidity can enhance the survival and spread of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, potentially increasing TB transmission rates. Extreme weather events, such as floods and droughts, disrupt healthcare services and create overcrowded living conditions, fostering TB outbreaks. Socio-economic factors, including poverty, starvation, and migration, further heighten TB risks. Climate change-induced disruptions to health infrastructure, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, hinder TB diagnosis, treatment, and control efforts. However, there is a lack of long-term studies assessing the cumulative effects of climate change on TB. This review highlights the urgent need for interdisciplinary approaches to address the dual challenges of climate change and TB. Effective TB control programs must integrate climate adaptation and resilience strategies. Policymakers should prioritize climate-informed TB initiatives, enhance monitoring systems, and support further research to address gaps in understanding the long-term impacts of climate change on TB.

Abstract

Hospital nurses in Indonesia are declining (2021 data), as well as in West Java Province (2022 data). This phenomenon (2021 data) also occurred at Edelweiss Hospital, Bandung (RS). The increasing demand for nursing staff and demands for high quality of service affect the performance of nurses (Brooks Anderson, 2005). Nurse job satisfaction plays an important role in supporting motivation and performance. This study aims to analyze the effect of quality of work life and job satisfaction on the performance of nurses in the Inpatient Installation at the Hospital. This study used a cross-sectional method with a descriptive analysis approach and partial and simultaneous correlation-regression through quantitative and qualitative methods. The entire population (census) of 54 nurses in the Inpatient Installation was used in this study. Data collection techniques through questionnaires and interviews were used. The results of the study showed that the quality of work life, job satisfaction, and nurse performance were in the "Good-Very Good" category. The results of the correlation-regression showed that the quality of work life and job satisfaction had a strong relationship with nurse performance with an r value of 0.809. The results of the research hypothesis test showed that the quality of work life and job satisfaction had a positive effect on nurse performance, with a p-value of 0.000 (p 0.05). This is in line with the theory of Brooks Anderson and Muller Mc Closkey. The study concluded that both quality of work life and job satisfaction have a positive impact on nurse performance. Suggestions for hospital management include additional management support in implementing policies, optimizing quality of work life, strengthening the conformity between SOPs and field practices, and strengthening work-life balance programs.

Abstract

Tuberculosis is still the most important health problem in the world, which occurs in almost all countries in the world, including Indonesia. Tuberculosis cases in Aceh Province are quite high, reaching 8,471 cases, with North Aceh Regency contributing the most cases with 1,247 cases. There were 240 cases of tuberculosis in children based on this report. Children are a high risk group for contracting TB because their immune systems are not yet optimal. Various risk factors can facilitate the occurrence of TB infection in children, namely, children who are exposed to adults with active TB (positive TB contacts), endemic areas, poverty, unhealthy environments, history of BCG immunization and others. This study aims to find the risk factors that most influence tuberculosis infection in children in North Aceh District. This research used a cohort retrospective research design, sampling was carried out by total sampling with a sample size of 105 in the period 2020 to 2023 at Cut Mutia General Hospital. The results of the study showed that the factors most affected by TB infection in children in North Aceh District were immunization history (p=0.043, OR=5.17) and contact history with a value (p=0.021, OR=7.23. Increased efforts are needed coverage of BCG immunization in children and increasing the cure rate for adult TB sufferers to minimize contact.
