Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of political leadership in encouraging changes in local governance through a transformational leadership approach applied by the Regent of Karo, Antonius Ginting. The research aims to analyze the implementation of transformational leadership, its role in realizing the principles of good governance, and its implications for the effectiveness of the bureaucracy and the community of Karo Regency. The method used is qualitative research with an exploratory approach through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study show that Antonius Ginting applies the characteristics of transformational leadership through a change in the bureaucratic work culture that is more disciplined, responsive, and oriented to public services. Its implementation can be seen in strengthening the supervision of apparatus performance, increasing coordination between regional apparatus organizations, and developing governance innovations. The leadership also encourages the application of the principles of transparency, accountability, and participation in local government. The implications can be seen in increasing bureaucratic effectiveness, the quality of public services, and the government's responsiveness to the needs of the community. These findings confirm that transformational leadership plays an important role in bureaucratic reform and strengthening more professional and adaptive local governance.

Abstract

This study examines the need for a signage system based on micro-scale urban planning as an edu-safety medium in the high-density residential area of Kricak Urban Village, Yogyakarta City. High-density settlements have complex spatial characteristics, including narrow alleys, intersections, community activity nodes, public facilities, and environmentally vulnerable areas that require clear visual information. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach through field observation, interviews, and visual documentation. The findings show that the existing signage system has not yet been integrated as a visual system for the area, as it still varies in form, color, font size, material, and placement. The required signage system includes orientation signs, directional signs, facility identification signs, environmental regulation signs, cleanliness education signs, evacuation routes, “Titik Kumpul” signs, and warnings for vulnerable areas. An effective signage system design needs to consider legibility, visual consistency, information hierarchy, installation points, and local identity. Therefore, the signage system can support spatial legibility, community education, and improved environmental safety preparedness in high-density residential areas in a more directed, communicative, functional, and sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the influence of self-control and self-regulation on Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) among students who use TikTok social media in East Palu District, Palu City. This study employed a quantitative approach with an ex post facto design and multiple linear regression analysis. The sample consisted of 250 students who were active TikTok users and were selected through questionnaire distribution. Data were collected using self-control, self-regulation, and FOMO scales that had met validity and reliability requirements. The results showed that self-control and self-regulation simultaneously had a significant effect on FOMO (p < 0.05). Partially, self-control did not have a significant effect on FOMO (p = 0.189), whereas self-regulation had a significant effect on FOMO (p = 0.000). These findings indicate that self-regulation plays a more dominant role in influencing the level of FOMO among students who use TikTok. Students with higher self-regulation tend to manage their social media use more effectively and are therefore less likely to experience FOMO. The findings imply the importance of strengthening students’ self-regulation skills through guidance and counseling services as an effort to reduce FOMO tendencies among TikTok users.

Abstract

Early marriage remains a significant social issue in Indonesia, affecting household quality of life and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This study aims to analyze the dynamics of early marriage and its implications for household quality of life from the perspective of SDGs in Sambirejo Timur Village, Percut Sei Tuan District. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Thirteen informants were selected through purposive sampling, including the neighborhood head, young married couples, and community members. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that early marriage is influenced by economic hardship, low educational attainment, social environment, and community norms that continue to tolerate the practice. Young couples experienced various challenges, including unstable economic conditions, marital adjustment, child-rearing responsibilities, and psychological pressure associated with assuming family roles at an early age. Despite these challenges, family support, effective communication, and mutual cooperation helped strengthen household resilience. The study also reveals that early marriage affects the achievement of several SDGs, particularly No Poverty, Good Health and Well-being, Quality Education, Gender Equality, Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Reduced Inequalities. Strengthening education, family economic empowerment, reproductive health education, premarital counseling, and family resilience programs is essential to reducing early marriage and supporting sustainable development at the local level

Abstract

Character development among students remains a challenge in schools because participation in various educational activities does not always result in the expected behavioral changes. Research on co-curricular activities generally focuses on the character traits that are formed, while explanations regarding the process of character formation and the factors determining its success remain limited. This study aims to analyze the process of character strengthening through co-curricular activities and to identify the factors influencing their effectiveness at SMP Negeri 2 Gorontalo. The study employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed through data condensation, data presentation, and the drawing and verification of conclusions. The results indicate that responsibility, cooperation, and tolerance are not formed instantly through students’ participation in activities, but rather through repeated social experiences involving role-sharing, negotiation, conflict resolution, and joint decision-making. The effectiveness of this process is influenced by the interconnection between school commitment, teacher role modeling, the quality of student participation, and school culture. These findings suggest that the quality of student engagement is a more decisive factor in character development than the mere existence of co-curricular programs; therefore, character education must be understood as a dynamic social process that unfolds within daily learning experiences

Abstract

Various educational policies have positioned character development as a primary goal that schools must achieve alongside academic achievement. However, various phenomena in the educational environment indicate that mastery of knowledge does not always go hand in hand with the development of positive student behavior. These conditions prompted SMP Negeri 4 Gorontalo to develop the “Rehab Hati” Program as a form of intensive guidance for students with a history of behavioral problems. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the “Rehab Hati” Program, identify the roles of the parties involved in its implementation, and examine changes in students’ character after participating in the program. This study employs a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the principal, guidance and counseling teachers, homeroom teachers, students participating in the program, and external parties involved in the implementation of the “Rehab Hati” Program. The data were analyzed using an interactive analysis model. The results indicate that the “Rehab Hati” Program is implemented through rehabilitative and collaborative guidance involving various stakeholders. This program contributes to changes in students’ character, particularly in the areas of discipline, responsibility, politeness, and self-control, although the changes demonstrated by each student are not entirely the same. The research findings confirm that character development for students experiencing behavioral problems requires a humanistic, collaborative, and sustainable approach.

Abstract

Literacy is a fundamental competence that plays an important role in improving the quality of learning and students' thinking skills. Low literacy achievement has encouraged the need to strengthen the School Literacy Movement through a more inclusive and collaborative approach. This study aims to analyze the implementation of a participatory approach in the School Literacy Program at SMP Negeri 1 Citeureup by examining the implementation process as well as its supporting and inhibiting factors. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results showed that the participatory approach was implemented through the active involvement of the principal, teachers, students, and the school committee in the planning, implementation, and evaluation stages of the literacy program. Literacy Wednesday activities, Book Talks, classroom reading corners, as well as poetry performances, speeches, dramas, and student work presentations contributed to building a collaborative literacy culture. The main supporting factors include the commitment of school leadership, cooperation among teachers, and student enthusiasm, while the obstacles faced include limited reading resources, implementation time, and variations in student motivation. The participatory approach not only strengthens the school's literacy culture but also supports the development of students' communication skills, creativity, and self-confidence.
