Fokus publishes original research or theoretical papers about teaching and learning in Guidance and Counseling study program of IKIP Siliwangi Bandung on current science issues, namely: Guidance and Counseling educator in elementary, secondary and high school level. Guidance and Counseling observers and researchers. Educational decisions maker on regional and national level. We recommend classroom action research, qualitative, descriptive, or quantitative. We may process manuscript of didactic development research (DDR) or research and development (RnD). Our publication could be research on teaching method, an experiment of teaching aid or media, and even effectiveness of lesson study. We accepted any manuscript derived from research of Guidance and Counseling in Indonesia. We will not process manuscript from research approach of school management.

Abstract

Gender-based violence is a critical issue in Indonesian society. A key structural barrier is unequal gender relations rooted in a deeply paternalistic culture, which tends to position men as superior. Furthermore, this perception is internalized by some submissive women, ultimately leading to domination, exploitation, and violence. Among the most prevalent cases is dating violence, which has increased significantly each year. Currently, dating violence manifests not only as physical abuse but also as verbal abuse. Research indicates that the most devastating impact of such violence is on the victims' psychological well-being. This study aims to provide an overview of the protective factors among female victims of dating violence by identifying the elements that build resilience. A qualitative case study approach was deemed appropriate for this purpose. The study involved two subjects selected through purposive sampling based on established inclusion criteria. Thematic analysis through the coding of verbatim interview transcripts was employed as the data analysis technique. The study yielded six findings, categorized into two main categories and three themes, which are discussed in detail. The study concludes that the protective factors shaping resilience in dating violence victims include both internal and external factors: individual factors, economic/financial factors, and social support.

Abstract

Stress coping cannot be separated from the presence of social support. For an individual particularly a college student social support from family members, such as parents, can have a positive influence on that individual’s performance. This study aims to examine the influence of family social support on stress coping among final-semester college students. The study employs a quantitative approach using an ex post facto design and a correlational design through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Family Social Support Scale and the Stress Coping Scale, both of which met validity and reliability criteria. Anonparametric hypothesis test using Spearman’s Rho correlation revealed a correlation coefficient of 0.559 with a significance level of 0.000. This indicates a significant moderate-level relationship between the two variables, meaning the relationship is quite strong. This positive relationship indicates that the higher the level of family social support received by students from their families, the better their ability to manage stress.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the increasing prevalence of self-injury behavior among adolescents and the limited research within alternative educational settings such as Sekolah Rakyat. The aim of this study is to describe self-injury behavior among students at Sekolah Rakyat Menengah Pertama (SRMP) 24 Gowa. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed using total sampling involving 105 seventh-grade students. Data were collected through a self-injury scale that has been tested for validity and reliability, which revealed that almost half of adolescents (46.5%) had committed self-injury in the past year, with 28% of them categorized as moderate to severe. and supported by interviews. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics. The results indicate that the level of self-injury is in the high category, with a mean score of 3.41. The most common behaviors were minor self-injury, such as hitting oneself and picking at wounds, while a small proportion engaged in major self-injury, such as cutting. Contributing factors include emotional instability, maladaptive beliefs, peer influence, and family background. These findings highlight that self-injury serves as a maladaptive coping mechanism. Therefore, preventive interventions through counseling services focusing on emotional regulation and cognitive restructuring are essential.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the picture of weak learning motivation in students at SMK Negeri 4 Aceh Barat Daya, and the forms of cooperation carried out by guidance and counseling teachers with parents in improving student learning motivation. This research used a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis method. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation involving one school counselor, five parents, and five students selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis followed three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that students’ learning motivation is weak across all four dimensions of Gowing’s model: achievement drive, commitment, initiative, and optimism. The school counselor has implemented a tiered collaboration with parents through WhatsApp and telephone communication, official written notices, home visits, and individual and group meetings. This collaboration has yielded positive outcomes, particularly in improving student attendance, although it remains largely incidental and reactive. The study recommends developing a more proactive, scheduled, and digitally-supported collaboration program.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of group guidance services with discussion techniques in overcoming truancy behavior in students. Truancy behavior is defined as a student's absence from school without a valid reason and exceeding the deadline set by the school. This behavior can be caused by a variety of factors, such as economic factors, a lack of responsibility, and environmental influences. Group guidance services with group discussion techniques are one way to help students overcome truancy. This technique is carried out by discussing in group situations continuously and systematically. This study uses a type of mix method with a pre-test post-test group design. The subjects in this study are students of class VIII B SMP PGRI Ngamprah which consists of 8 students. Based on the results of the paired t test with a value of 0.000 < 0.05, it shows that the Ha hypothesis is accepted and Ho is rejected, which means that there is an influence on group guidance services using dusukusi techniques to reduce truancy behavior of students in grade VIII B SMP Pgri Ngamprah. The results of the study show that group guidance services with discussion techniques are effective in overcoming truancy behavior in students. This is evidenced by the increase in student attendance at school after participating in group guidance services. This research also shows that group discussion techniques can help students in developing their motivation to learn and their ability to solve problems.Keywords: Truancy Behavior, Group Guidance, Discussion Techniques

Abstract

Learning burnout as a state of physical, mental, attitudinal and emotional fatigue of individuals or work due to intensive involvement with work over a long period of time which can affect individual performance and achievement and group guidance is basically an activity effort that utilizes group dynamics or a collection of a group of individuals who form a group as a guidance effort carried out and carried out by someone (counselor) with the aim of developing an aspect contained in the individual in the form of attitudes, Then the role playing technique is an effort to help using the role playing method carried out by individuals to play characters or behavior according to the role played by students in obtaining information, knowledge and understanding of self-concept and positive behavior. The purpose of this study was to describe group guidance services with role playing techniques to reduce student learning saturation. This research method is an experimental method with one group pre test - post test. The population in this study were students of class VIII H. the sample used purposive sampling with 7 subjects. The results showed that the level of student learning saturation following group guidance services decreased with role playing techniques, this was indicated by a significance level (2-tailed) of 0.000 <0.05. This shows that there is an effect of the effectiveness of group guidance services with role playing techniques in reducing the boredom of learning class VIII H students at SMP Negeri 1 Parongpong.

Abstract

The phenomenon of academic stress that occurs among students will greatly disrupt the conditions in the learning process. Academic stress has a negative effect on physiological and psychological. This study aims to test whether group guidance with self-instruction techniques is effective in reducing academic stress experienced by students. The method used is a quasy experiment using a noneqivalent control group design. The sample in this study was selected using a purposive sampling technique with a sample of 18 people divided into 2 groups, namely the control group and the experimental group. The measuring tool in this study uses an academic stress instrument made by the researcher and refers to Hans Selye's theory. Data processing in this study uses a non-parametric Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test obtained using SPSS ver 26. Based on the results of data analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks obtained the Asymp probability number. Sig (2-tailed) 0.008 < 0.05 so that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. This means that group guidance with effective self-instruction techniques to reduce academic stress in class XI Mipa students at SMAN 2 Purwakarta.

Abstract

The research was designed to increase students' learning motivation, the method used was quantitative method with a total researchsample of 20 students through a questionnaire learning motivation questionnaire. The results showed that this quantitative dataprocessing analysis used a learning motivation scale with a reliability of 0.915. Based on the results of the Paired Sample T-test, theSig. (2-tailed) value is 0.000 <0.05, this shows the Sig. (2-tailed) value is smaller than 0.05. And the results of the n-gain test results from the mean value obtained 56% adjusted to the category obtained 56% is quiteeffective. This is also proven by the normality results which show a value of 0.128 because the significance value is more than 0.05, this shows that the data is normally distributed, so the effectiveness of classical guidance with the discussion method can increase student learning motivation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyze the effectiveness of the application of group guidance with psychodrama techniques to reduce academic procrastination of class X students, this study was conducted on class X students at SMA KP Cikalongwetan. The data of this study were analyzed using Mixed Methods with Explanatory design. The subjects of this study were class X students of SMA KP Cikalongwetan with a population of 95 students, so the researcher took the number of research samples with a 10% error rate from a population of 95 students, namely 71 students with the number of subjects given intervention being 7 students. This sampling technique was carried out by simple purposive sampling. The results of the study were carried out with statistical analysis using the Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS), where the researcher used calculations with validation tests, reliability tests, normality tests, and paired sample t-tests. In the paired sample t-test, the Sig. (2-tailed) value is 0.000 <0.05. It can be concluded that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. This shows that group guidance services with psychodrama techniques are effective in reducing academic procrastination in class X students.

Abstract

Everything will function more smoothly and successfully with the aid of career planning, which enables people to recognize and formulate actionable actions toward achieving their professional objectives. The purpose of this study was to determine how the traditional guidance services combined live modeling methods on career planning for eighth-grade students at SMPN 5 Cimahi The study employed quantitative research approaches and had sample 76 students in total, with 38 students in each session. The experimental and control groups were established use a quasi-experimental non-equivalent control group design technique. A career planning survey tool was employed, and a portion of the information was derived from the 1958 theory of John Milton Dillard. The researcher was assigned to the effective group after achieving an average n-gain test score of 90.7% in the experimental class. By contrast, the average n-gain test result for the control class was 54.1%, putting it in the less effective group. Students in the eighth grade at SMPN 5 Cimahi believe that career preparation is greatly benefited by traditional mentoring via direct modeling approaches.
