Abstract

This quantitative research analyzes the e fects of dialogic teaching and reasoning on the critical thinking ski ls of Accounting Education students from the 2023 and 2024 cohorts. Utilizing a Stratified Random Sampling technique, a sample of 117 respondents was obtained. Data were colected via questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS. Partial testing indicates that both dialogic teaching and reasoning have positive and significant e fects on critical thinking. Simultaneously, both variables contribute 61.2% to explaining the variation in students' critical thinking capacity. However, descriptive analysis reveals an evaluative note: students' limitations in coordinating ideas and variable reasoning directly imply lower precision in drawing accounting conclusions. Therefore, accounting instruction should not merely focus on the courage to argue, but rather on strengthening the capacity for synthesis and precise scientific reasoning. The limitation of this study lies in the potential for subjectivity bias due to the reliance on self-report instruments.

Abstract

Service quality in the hotel industry is strongly influenced by the performance of the Housekeeping Department in maintaining guest room cleanliness, comfort, and readiness. This study was motivated by the discovery of inconsistencies in room cleaning standards at M-One Hotel Sentul, particularly under high operational pressure such as full occupancy, late check-out, and early check-in. The purpose of this study was to analyze the compliance of room cleaning implementation with applicable Housekeeping standards and to identify the factors causing non-compliance. This research used a qualitative approach with direct observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews involving five informants consisting of four room attendants and one Housekeeping Supervisor. Informants were selected using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed interactively through data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing, and triangulation. The findings show that the preparation, bed making, and bathroom cleaning stages were implemented in accordance with the established procedures. However, inconsistencies were still found in dusting, amenities replenishment, and final checking. The main contributing factors were limited working time, high occupancy, late check-out, early check-in, linen availability, incomplete amenities, and suboptimal coordination between Housekeeping and Front Office. The study recommends strengthening supervision, logistics management, interdepartmental coordination, and double checking to maintain consistent service quality.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the function of setting in developing dramatic tension in D. M. Larson's The Waiting Room. The study uses a qualitative descriptive method because the data are presented in the form of dialogues and stage directions found in the drama script. The analysis focuses on how the setting, including the waiting room itself and the changing atmosphere of the ceiling, contributes to the development of dramatic tension throughout the play. The data were collected by reading the script carefully, identifying descriptions related to setting, and interpreting their relationship with the characters' emotions and the progression of the story. The findings show that the setting in The Waiting Room is not only used as the physical background of the story but also functions as an active dramatic element. The mysterious waiting room creates uncertainty from the beginning of the play, while the changing light of the ceiling reflects the emotional condition of the characters and increases the dramatic tension. The setting also supports the gradual revelation of the characters' memories and leads the audience toward the climax of the story. Therefore, the study concludes that setting has an important role in building suspense, creating emotional atmosphere, and strengthening the overall dramatic effect of the play.

Abstract

Abstract This study examines the effectiveness of the "Timeline Challenge Card Sort" strategy in promoting chronological thinking and student engagement in learning about the Japanese occupation of Indonesia. History instruction should cultivate historical thinking skills and facilitate students' comprehension of historical processes, rather than merely engaging in the memorization of facts. A considerable number of middle school students encounter challenges in arranging historical events in chronological order and exhibit minimal engagement in class. The reliability of the data was ensured through a triangulation of sources and methods. The findings indicate that the incorporation of timeline visualizations and "card-sort" activities into group discussions facilitates students' ability to structure the material, identify chronological sequences, and articulate historical contexts. This pedagogical approach encourages students to conceptualize history as a series of interconnected events rather than as a collection of discrete facts. This approach has been demonstrated to promote behavioral, emotional, and cognitive engagement by fostering active participation, teamwork, and reflective thinking. However, some students still require teacher guidance and carefully crafted questions to develop more sophisticated historical thinking skills beyond a simple chronology. In summary, the "Timeline Challenge Card Sort" has been demonstrated to be a productive method for enhancing chronological thinking skills and fostering a greater interest in history lessons among students.
