Abstract

This study aimed to develop an interactive learning media based on Canva for fraction material for junior secondary students at SLB C YPALB Perwari Kuningan. The study was motivated by the limited use of technology-based learning media, which caused fraction concepts to remain difficult to understand because they are abstract and require concrete, visual, and gradual presentation. This study used a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the 4D model consisting of define, design, develop, and disseminate stages. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. Qualitative data were analyzed descriptively through data reduction and presentation, while quantitative data from validation and response questionnaires were analyzed using percentage scores. The define stage identified the need for simple, visual, and interactive media that matched the characteristics of students. The design stage produced a media structure consisting of an opening page, main menu, learning objectives, fraction material, examples, interactive exercises or quizzes, and a closing page. The develop stage focused on creating the product in Canva, expert validation, revision, and limited trials, while dissemination was conducted on a limited scale in the research setting. The product integrates text, images, colors, simple animations, audio or video, navigation, and practice activities to support more concrete learning of fractions. Based on the development process, the media was designed to support learning that is more attractive, visual, and aligned with students' learning needs.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low critical thinking skills of fourth-grade elementary school students during Science and Social Sciences (IPAS) learning activities. Classroom observations indicated that students were generally passive and hesitant to articulate analytical arguments. Therefore, this study aimed to comprehensively analyze the implementation of collaborative learning management—encompassing planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling (POAC)—to enhance students' critical thinking skills. This research employed a qualitative approach using a case study design at SDN Hegarmanah Cikalong, Cianjur. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the principal, fourth-grade teacher, and students, alongside direct classroom observations and intensive documentation analysis. The findings revealed that: (1) planning was meticulously carried out through the preparation of differentiated lesson modules; (2) organizing involved structuring heterogeneous student groups based on mixed academic proficiencies; (3) actuating was realized via problem-solving sessions, interactive peer discussions, and group presentations; and (4) controlling focused on process-oriented and performance-based assessments. In conclusion, systematic and collaborative learning management successfully fosters a highly interactive, student-centered educational environment that significantly stimulates elementary students' critical thinking competencies.

Abstract

Islamic education currently faces complex challenges amidst the currents of globalization, the Society 5.0 era, and the rapid development of information technology. This study aims to analyze the impact of globalization on Islamic education, the problems of student morals and character, and the challenges of integrating information technology into learning systems. The method used is descriptive analysis with a qualitative approach through literature review. The results of the study show that globalization brings ease of information access, but on the other hand, it triggers moral degradation, individualism, and the misuse of social media that contradicts Islamic teachings. Furthermore, digital transformation in Islamic educational institutions is still constrained by limited digital competence of educators and infrastructure gaps. This research concludes that the success of Islamic education requires synergy between the government, educational institutions, educators, and parents in integrating technology wisely. Strengthening character education based on the values of the Qur'an and As-Sunnah is necessary so that students can adapt to global competition without losing their identity as Muslims.

Abstract

Emotion regulation is an important developmental task for senior high school students, yet a preliminary study at SMAN 1 Ciruas showed that 68.1% of 426 students (from the Student Needs Questionnaire) had not been able to manage their emotions adaptively, and about 112 students had spontaneously used unstructured writing to release negative emotions. This study aimed to describe the level of students' emotion regulation and to examine the effectiveness of group guidance using mindfulness journaling in improving it. A quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control-group design was used, involving 20 tenth-grade students selected through purposive sampling: 10 in the experimental group, who received six sessions of mindfulness-journaling-based group guidance, and 10 in the control group, who received conventional group discussion. Data were collected using the adapted Emotion Regulation Questionnaire-Process Model (ERQ-30) developed by Preece and Gross. Because the Shapiro-Wilk normality test showed the data were not normally distributed, hypothesis testing used the non-parametric Mann-Whitney U Test. Results showed a significant difference between groups for both adaptive strategies (p < 0.001) and maladaptive strategies (p = 0.003). The experimental group's adaptive score rose from 68.7 to 91.6 (N-Gain 0.64) and its maladaptive score fell from 85.5 to 61.1 (N-Gain -1.4), both markedly larger changes than in the control group. These findings indicate that mindfulness-journaling-based group guidance is effective in increasing adaptive emotion-regulation strategies and reducing maladaptive ones among senior high school students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the improvement of navigation competence of cadets at Politeknik Maritim AMI Makassar (Polimarim AMI) through Bridge Simulator-based learning. Navigation competence is a fundamental skill that maritime cadets must master to meet the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), 2010 Manila Amendments. This research used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design, involving 30 Nautika Study Program cadets selected through purposive sampling. Navigation competence was measured with a performance-based assessment rubric covering collision avoidance, chart-work and position fixing, radar and ARPA operation, and bridge resource management, administered before and after a structured Bridge Simulator training program. Data were analyzed using a paired-sample t-test and the normalized gain (N-Gain) score. The results indicate a statistically significant increase in navigation competence scores after the Bridge Simulator-based learning intervention, with an average N-Gain score in the moderate-to-high category, the largest gain occurring in the chart-work and position fixing indicator. These findings suggest that Bridge Simulator-based learning is effective for strengthening cadets' practical navigation skills prior to sea practice (Praktek Laut), and it is recommended that maritime education institutions integrate structured, progressively challenging simulator scenarios more intensively into their nautical curricula.
