Abstract

Primary education plays a strategic role in shaping high-quality human capital that is adaptable to global change. Indonesia and Vietnam, two rapidly developing Southeast Asian countries in the education sector, have adopted different approaches to primary education curricula, both oriented toward 21st-century learning goals. This study compares the primary school curricula of Indonesia and Vietnam, focusing on educational structure, curriculum content, pedagogical strategies, language of instruction, and implementation challenges. Using a qualitative method based on literature analysis of national policies, international reports, and academic studies, the findings show that Indonesia’s Merdeka Curriculum emphasizes flexibility, project-based learning, and character building, while Vietnam’s 2018 General Education Curriculum follows a competency-based and cross-disciplinary integration model with an outcome-based assessment system. Both countries face similar implementation issues such as regional disparities, teacher readiness, and digital learning integration. The study suggests that regional collaboration and mutual learning can contribute to improving the quality and equity of primary education in Southeast Asia.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of Flag-Raising Troop (Paskibra) extracurricular activities and to analyze their contribution to shaping students’ disciplinary character at SMPN 2 Bojongpicung. The study is grounded in the importance of discipline as a key pillar of student success within the context of the Merdeka Curriculum, which emphasizes the Profile of Pancasila Students and a positive school culture. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed. The research subjects consisted of the principal, vice principal, Paskibra coach, and Paskibra members from grades VII, VIII, and IX. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant and non-participant observations of training sessions and flag ceremony implementation, as well as documentation studies of the school operational curriculum, extracurricular programs, school rules, and student discipline records. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s model, including data collection, reduction, display, and conclusion drawing, supported by source, technique, and time triangulation to ensure data validity. The findings show that Paskibra at SMPN 2 Bojongpicung is systematically designed, integrated with the school’s vision and mission, and emphasizes the habituation of time discipline, neatness, compliance with rules, and role modeling by the coach. Regular training, flag-raising duties, and positive routines positively impact students’ punctuality, rule compliance, sense of responsibility, independence, and self-confidence. Thus, Paskibra serves as a strategic vehicle for developing students’ disciplinary character at the secondary school level that is important to maintain and further strengthen.

Abstract

The increasing incidence of infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus and the growing problem of antibiotic resistance have encouraged the exploration of natural sources as alternative antibacterial agents. Kaffir lime (Citrus hystrix) leaves are known to contain various secondary metabolites with potential antibacterial properties. This study aimed to evaluate the antibacterial activity of kaffir lime leaf extract against Staphylococcus aureus and to analyze the effect of different extract concentrations on the diameter of inhibition zones. The extract was prepared using a maceration method with 96% ethanol, followed by solvent evaporation to obtain a concentrated extract. Antibacterial activity was assessed using the disc diffusion method with extract concentrations of 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%. Chloramphenicol was used as a positive control, while 96% ethanol served as a negative control. The results showed that all extract concentrations produced inhibition zones ranging from 6.24 to 6.62 mm, which were classified as weak antibacterial activity and did not demonstrate a significant concentration-dependent effect. In contrast, the positive control exhibited a markedly larger inhibition zone of 32.14 mm, while the negative control showed no inhibitory effect. These findings indicate that the ethanol extract of kaffir lime leaves exhibits limited antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus under the experimental conditions. Further studies involving extraction optimization or purification of active compounds are recommended to enhance its antibacterial potential.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Canva-based interactive e-books on fifth-grade students' learning outcomes in the human digestive system at SD Negeri 1 Taraju. In an increasingly complex educational context, interactive e-books are expected to increase students' interest and understanding of abstract scientific concepts. Using quantitative methods and a one-group pretest-posttest design, the study involved 30 students who were tested before and after the e-book implementation. Data collection was carried out through tests consisting of a pretest, treatment, and posttest. The results of the analysis showed a significant increase, with an average pretest score of 62 and a posttest score of 85, and a significance value (sig.) of 0.000 which is lower than the significance level of 0.05, which causes the null hypothesis to be rejected and the alternative hypothesis to be accepted. Adjusted R Square 75.7% indicates that the use of e-books contributes significantly to improving student learning outcomes. This study recommends that teachers consider the use of interactive e-books in learning to improve learning outcomes, as well as encourage further research on innovative learning media.

Abstract

Parental and peer communication patterns play a crucial role in shaping early childhood social development. This study aims to analyze the forms of communication patterns between parents and peers and their influence on the social development of early childhood at TK Rinjani UNRAM. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with parents and teachers, and documentation. The data analysis technique used an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that democratic and open communication patterns between parents and children foster positive social behaviors such as cooperation, empathy, and self-confidence. Meanwhile, peer communication patterns that emphasize interaction, collaboration, and mutual respect significantly support children's social development. The study concludes that harmonious communication between parents and peers contributes positively to the social development of early childhood. These findings are expected to provide insights for parents, educators, and schools in optimizing communication strategies to support children's social growth

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Aksara Kata Program through joyful storytelling activities in strengthening elementary school students’ literacy skills. This research employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. The research subjects consisted of the principal, teachers, and students at SD Negeri 015 Tanjung Jabung Barat. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that the Aksara Kata Program was implemented in a planned and sustainable manner through storytelling activities that actively engaged students. These activities contributed to improving students’ reading and writing literacy skills, fostering reading interest, and enhancing students’ confidence in expressing ideas both orally and in writing. Supporting factors included strong support from the school principal, active teacher involvement, and students’ enthusiasm, while challenges involved limited facilities and differences in students’ literacy abilities. The Aksara Kata Program also functions as a co-curricular activity that strengthens intraclass learning and promotes a school literacy culture. Therefore, joyful storytelling activities within the Aksara Kata Program are an effective strategy for strengthening literacy in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to integrate Islamic religious education values ​​into the Visual Sense Material in elementary schools through the Connected Model. The research method used is a literature review with data sourced from scientific journals published in 2022-2024. The results of the study indicate that the integration of the values ​​of gratitude, trust, and the ethics of using sight can improve students' conceptual understanding and spiritual attitudes. The Connected Model effectively connects scientific concepts about the sense of sight with Islamic teachings, creating meaningful and holistic learning. This approach helps students understand the biological mechanisms of vision and fosters gratitude for maintaining eye health as a blessing from Allah. This integration supports the formation of students who are not only scientifically literate but also have character and spiritual awareness.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of teachers in fostering students’ ethics and morals at SDN 006 Mukti Jaya, Rokan Hilir. The research is grounded in the growing decline in students’ ethical and moral behavior, reflected in impolite attitudes, low discipline, the use of inappropriate language, and a lack of respect toward teachers and peers. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The research subjects consist of six teachers and six students who serve as key informants. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that teachers play a crucial role in developing students’ ethics and morals through five major roles: as educators and instructors, mediators and facilitators, role models, motivators, and as guides and evaluators. Teachers instill ethical values through exemplary behavior, positive habituation, motivation, and the creation of a supportive learning environment. Furthermore, teachers address moral violations through personal guidance, counseling, and explanations regarding responsibility and respectful behavior. However, the study also identifies several inhibiting factors, including exposure to social media, peer influence, and inadequate parental support. This study concludes that teachers hold a significant role in shaping students’ character, yet stronger collaboration between schools, families, and the community is needed to ensure optimal ethical and moral development.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of using the Busun application on improving the vocabulary skills of tenth-grade students at SMAN 23 Makassar in the 2024/2025 academic year: This research design used a quasi-experimental method with a quantitative approach. The sample was 60 students, consisting of 30 students in the control class and 30 students in the experimental class. This study used a pre-test and post-test, followed by treatment over four meetings. The control class used textbooks as learning media, while the experimental class used the Busuu application. The research data were obtained from the pre-test and post-test results, which were analyzed to determine the improvement in students' vocabulary skills. The results showed that the average pre-test score of students in the control class was 62.93 and the post-test was 70.93, while the average pre-test score in the experimental class was 62.93. The experimental class's average score was 56.67, and the post-test score was 80.53. There was a significant increase in the experimental class's average score of 23.86 after the treatment compared to the control class. The t-test results showed a value of 0.004 < 0.05, therefore, Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the use of the Busu application as a Technology-Based Learning has an effect on improving the vocabulary of 10th-grade Merdeka 2 students at SMAN 23 Makassar.
