Abstract

Cargo handling is a core operational activity in ports that directly affects berth time efficiency and vessel departure punctuality, as any delay in this process will impact the overall sailing schedule. This study aims to analyze the influence of cargo handling operations and passenger boarding on the departure punctuality of the passenger vessel KM Bukit Siguntang and to formulate strategic operational recommendations to improve departure time performance. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through semi-structured interviews, field observations during Voyage 16.2025, and operational documentation including ETA, ETD, and actual ATD records. Informants consist of ship crews and port operational personnel. Data were analyzed using an interactive analysis model involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the impact of delays is proportional to berth duration; therefore, shorter port stays carry a higher risk of operational time loss. The study recommends the implementation of proportional buffer time, stricter boarding cut-off policies, optimized cargo planning, improved equipment readiness, and the establishment of a monitoring and evaluation system based on key performance indicators to enhance vessel departure punctuality.

Abstract

This study is entitled "Educator Recruitment Planning at the High School Level". This study aims to analyze the planning of educator recruitment at the high school level and the supporting and inhibiting factors of educator recruitment planning at the high school level. In this study, the researcher used a qualitative descriptive approach using qualitative research types. In this study, the research informants were the Principal, the Vice Principal of Curriculum and the Head of Administration. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation. While the techniques used in data analysis were data reduction, data presentation, data verification, and conclusion drawing. The test of the validity of this research data used source triangulation and technical triangulation. The results of the study indicate that the planning of educator recruitment at the high school level has been running quite well. The results of this study can be seen in the formulation of the current situation in the preparation of new educator recruitment, the distribution of new educator recruitment announcements, the acceptance of new educator applications, and the selection of applicants, the determination in the preparation of new educator recruitment, the distribution of new educator recruitment announcements, the acceptance of new educator applications and the selection of applicants. Identifying all the obstacles and facilitations in preparing for new teacher recruitment, distributing announcements, accepting new teacher applications, and selecting applicants. The inhibiting factors include the uncertain timing of teacher recruitment and the difficulty of obtaining competent teachers.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the Cartesian Plane learning media based on the Gobak Sodor game on the coordinate point material for sixth grade students of SDN 107400 Bandar Khalipah. This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The validation results show an average percentage of 89%, categorized as very feasible. The practicality aspect obtained a score of 92%, which indicates that the media is easy to use by teachers and students and supports conducive learning. This media presents concrete and interactive visualizations of the concept of coordinate points through game activities, helping students understand the position of points on the Cartesian plane more meaningfully. The effectiveness test was carried out through pre-tests and post-tests, with the average score increasing from 38.25% to 81.85%. The N-Gain calculation result of 0.6643 is included in the fairly high category. Based on these results, the learning media is declared valid, practical, and effective in improving student learning outcomes. Thus, this media has the potential to be applied more widely and developed in other educational materials and levels.

Abstract

Reading skill is a fundamental ability that is very important for elementary school students because it becomes the foundation for understanding various subjects and supports the development of early literacy. However, based on the results of the initial observation in the third grade of SDN 2 Tanjung Inten, students’ reading skills were still relatively low, especially in the aspects of reading fluency, intonation, and pronunciation accuracy. This research aimed to improve students’ reading skills through the implementation of folklore-based learning media that is appropriate to the characteristics of elementary school students. This research used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach which was conducted in two cycles consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages, with 17 students as the research subjects. Data were collected through reading skill tests. The data analysis technique used quantitative descriptive analysis to calculate the percentage of learning mastery and qualitative descriptive analysis to analyze the learning process. The results of the research showed an improvement in students’ reading skills from 47.1% in the pre-cycle to 58.8% in Cycle I, and it increased again in Cycle II to 94.1%. The improvement could be seen in the aspects of reading fluency, more appropriate intonation according to punctuation, and clearer word pronunciation. Therefore, the use of folklore-based learning media proved to be effective in improving the reading skills of third grade students at SDN 2 Tanjung Inten.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology in education has encouraged the integration of innovative learning approaches to enhance 21st-century skills, particularly computational thinking. Augmented Reality (AR), as an interactive visual technology, is considered to have significant potential in supporting more contextual, engaging, and meaningful learning experiences. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Augmented Reality in improving students’ computational thinking skills through a systematic literature review approach. The method employed is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) by examining scholarly articles published between 2018 and 2025 from various relevant academic databases. The literature selection process was conducted based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria to ensure the quality and relevance of the selected studies. The findings indicate that the use of AR in learning contributes positively to the development of computational thinking skills, particularly in terms of problem decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithm design. In addition, AR enhances student engagement and learning motivation by providing interactive and immersive learning experiences. However, several challenges remain, including limited technological infrastructure and teachers’ readiness in implementing AR-based learning. Therefore, further support is required to optimize the integration of AR technology in educational settings.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the obstacles experienced by fifth-grade students in performing forward roll floor gymnastics at SD 104241, Kampung Syahmad Village, with a total of 49 students as subjects. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection techniques were carried out through questionnaires, interviews, and observations, then analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Data validity was obtained through source and method triangulation techniques to ensure the validity of the research findings. Based on field findings, learning obstacles include physical, psychological, material, teacher, facilities and infrastructure, as well as environmental and time aspects. The results of the analysis show that the most dominant obstacles are in the facilities and infrastructure aspect, especially limited facilities such as inadequate mattresses, thus hampering the implementation of optimal and safe learning for students. In addition, environmental and time aspects are also classified as having quite high obstacles, such as the condition of the learning place that is less supportive and limited allocation of learning time. Physical, psychological, material, and teacher aspects have relatively lower levels of obstacles. Thus, it can be concluded that the main obstacles in learning forward roll floor gymnastics are more influenced by external factors. Therefore, efforts are needed from schools and teachers to improve learning facilities and create more effective, innovative, and enjoyable learning conditions so that learning objectives can be achieved optimally.

Abstract

Gamification in learning has become an innovative strategy to increase student engagement and motivation, particularly at the elementary school level. This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of gamification implementation in the classroom environment and identify optimal strategies that can be used by educators. The research method used is a literature review and case studies in several elementary schools that have implemented gamification in the teaching-learning process. The results showed that gamification elements, such as badges, points, challenges, and leaderboards, can increase students' active participation, strengthen concept understanding, and foster intrinsic motivation in learning. In addition, the use of competitive and collaborative elements in gamification helps build social skills and increase students' self-confidence. Thus, optimizing gamification strategies can be an effective solution in creating a more engaging and interactive learning experience in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students’ learning outcomes in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) through the use of image media in third-grade students at SDN II Tanjung Inten. The research was motivated by low student learning outcomes, where most students did not achieve the minimum mastery criteria and showed low engagement during the learning process. This study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted in two cycles consisting of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting stages. The subjects of this study were 17 third-grade students. Data were collected through tests, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative methods. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ learning outcomes. The average score increased from 60.6 in the pre-cycle to 72.6 in Cycle I, and further to 85.9 in Cycle II. The percentage of learning mastery also improved from 29.4% in the pre-cycle to 76.5% in Cycle I, and reached 94% in Cycle II, exceeding the success indicator of 80%. These findings indicate that the use of image media is effective in enhancing students’ understanding, engagement, and learning outcomes in IPAS. Therefore, image media can be considered an appropriate instructional strategy, especially for abstract learning materials in elementary education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the ethics of social media use among students based on Pancasila values at the Faculty of Education, Universitas Negeri Medan (UNIMED). The rapid development of digital technology has made social media an integral part of students’ daily lives, yet it also raises various ethical issues such as the spread of hoaxes, hate speech, and cyberbullying. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving 15 students selected through purposive sampling. The results indicate that students generally possess a basic understanding of social media ethics, including maintaining politeness, respecting others’ opinions, and avoiding misinformation. However, the implementation of Pancasila values in digital interactions is not yet consistent. Violations such as inappropriate language use, passive attitudes toward unethical behavior, and lack of information verification are still common. Low digital literacy is identified as a major contributing factor. Nevertheless, students recognize their role as agents of change in promoting ethical behavior online, although this role has not been optimally realized. Therefore, strengthening digital literacy and internalizing Pancasila values are essential to foster responsible, ethical, and character-based digital behavior among students.

Abstract

Language development is an important aspect of early childhood growth because it is closely related to children's communication skills, thinking abilities, and social interactions. The family environment, as a form of nonformal education, plays a crucial role in providing language stimulatio1n for children, one of which is through storytelling activities. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the storytelling method by parents in developing early childhood language skills within the family environment. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research subjects consisted of two parents who have children aged 4-6 years and actively conduct storytelling activities at home. The study was conducted on Tuasan Street, Sidorejo Hilir, Medan Tembung District, Medan City. Data collection techniques included observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that regularly conducted storytelling activities can increase children's involvement in communication processes, enrich vocabulary, and build children's confidence in expressing their opinions. The use of media such as illustrated storybooks and storytelling delivered with expressive gestures and engaging intonation also enhances children's attention during the activity. Although there are challenges such as limited time and limited variations of storytelling media, storytelling remains a simple and effective method to support early childhood language development within the family environment.
