Abstract

Language development is one of the important aspects of early childhood education. One of the methods that can be used to stimulate children's language development is the storytelling method. This research aims to analyse the application of storytelling methods and the use of learning media in the family environment as non-formal education. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research results show that the storytelling method supported by visual media such as picture story books and figure pictures can increase children's involvement in learning, enrich vocabulary, and improve children's communication skills. Learning takes place interactively between parents and children so as to create a fun learning atmosphere and in accordance with the stage of early childhood development.

Abstract

Vocabulary Self-Collection Strategy (VSS) is an active learning strategy that encourages students to collect and discuss vocabulary, they find it interesting or important. At SMPN 8 Bukittinggi, many seventh-grade students still struggle with vocabulary mastery due to limited learning strategies, less interactive teaching, and low student engagement. This study investigated the effect of using VSS through YouTube short clips on students’ vocabulary mastery. This quantitative research employed a quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test in both experimental and control groups. The population consisted of seventh-grade students of SMPN 8 Bukittinggi, and the sample was chosen through cluster random sampling: class VII.2 served as the control group (taught without VSS), while class VII.4 was the experimental group (taught using VSS through YouTube short clips). Data were collected using vocabulary tests administered before and after the treatment. The findings revealed that VSS through YouTube short clips significantly has a significant effect on students’ vocabulary mastery, as indicated by the increase in the experimental group’s mean score (58.27 > 42.80). Second, there was a significant difference between the experimental and control groups, confirmed by the independent sample t-test result (sig. 2-tailed = 0.000 < 0.05). Finally, teaching vocabulary through VSS and YouTube short clips proved better than traditional teaching methods.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the strategies for forming learning discipline at Sanggar Tari Raden Kuning, Seri Tanjung Village, Ogan Ilir Regency. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed. Research subjects consisted of one trainer, two students, and two parents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, non-participant observation, and documentation. Results indicate that learning discipline formation was implemented through three main strategies based on B.F. Skinner’s behaviorism theory: (1) reinforcement through verbal praise, small rewards, and front-row placement; (2) educational punishment through gentle reprimands and movement repetition; and (3) behavioral conditioning through consistent training routines. The success of these strategies was evidenced by the achievement of four learning discipline indicators: punctuality, compliance with instructions, consistency in practice, and responsibility for movement tasks. Furthermore, cultural values embedded in Tari Gending Sriwijaya, Tari Tanggai, and Tari Zapin Rodat reinforced discipline formation, transforming it from mere external compliance into internal commitment rooted in the nation’s noble cultural values.

Abstract

In the era of globalization, modern educational institutions are faced with the demand to transcend national boundaries through integrated internationalization strategies. This study aims to analyze the strategies and dynamics of international management in modern educational institutions in Indonesia in an effort to maintain global competitiveness. Using a qualitative approach with a literature study method, this study examines several primary references consisting of accredited scientific journals and educational management textbooks. The results show that effective primary strategies include strengthening cross-border strategic alliances, standardizing quality based on international accreditation, and accelerating digitalization through an integrated learning management system. The dynamics found include administrative regulatory barriers, the need to adapt Human Resources competencies that are sensitive to cultural diversity, and challenges in implementing the concept of "Glocalization" which is balancing global quality standards with local wisdom values. This study concludes that the success of international management is highly dependent on transformational leadership that is able to manage organizational change flexibly and adaptively. The implications of this study emphasize the need for continuous investment in technological infrastructure and staff capacity development to face the uncertainties of the global education market.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of gamification-based learning media through the Padlet application on Indonesian language learning outcomes in the material "Self-Expression through Hobbies" for fifth-grade students at SDN 117505 Panjang Tongah in the 2025/2026 academic year. The type of research used is quantitative research with a quasi-experimental method and a nonequivalent control group design. The study population was all fifth-grade students, totaling 50 students. The sample was determined using a purposive sampling technique, with class V-A as the experimental class that received treatment using gamification-based learning media (Padlet), totaling 23 students, and class V-B as the control class with conventional learning, totaling 27 students. The research instrument used a multiple-choice test consisting of 20 questions that had been tested for validity, reliability, difficulty level, and discriminating power. Data analysis techniques used normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing with an independent sample t-test. The results showed a significant difference in learning outcomes between the experimental class and the control class. The average posttest score of the experimental class was 88.04, higher than the control class's 63.33. The hypothesis test results obtained a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 and a t-count of 8.298 > t-table 2.010, so H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of using gamification-based learning media through the Padlet application on the Indonesian language learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SDN 117505 Panjang Tongah

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to describe the representation of existential anxiety in three poems by Sapardi Djoko Damono, namely Aku Ingin, Hujan Bulan Juni, and Pada Suatu Hari Nanti, through the psychoanalytic perspective of Sigmund Freud. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method with a literary psychology approach. The primary data consisted of lines, phrases, and symbolic expressions in the poems that indicate existential anxiety, psychic conflict, and defense mechanisms. Data were collected through close reading and note-taking techniques, then analyzed using data reduction, classification, interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that existential anxiety in Sapardi’s poems is represented through symbols of transformation, silence, deferred expression, and awareness of human finitude. In Aku Ingin, anxiety emerges through the symbolic transformation of wood into ash and clouds into rain as metaphors of loss and impermanence. In Hujan Bulan Juni, anxiety is reflected through emotional restraint and repression represented by delayed rain imagery. Meanwhile, Pada Suatu Hari Nanti demonstrates acceptance of death as a form of sublimation of existential fear. From Freud’s psychoanalytic framework, the ego appears dominant in regulating the affective impulses of the id through symbolic sublimation. This study shows that Sapardi’s poetic simplicity contains profound psychological complexity and contributes to expanding literary psychology studies in modern Indonesian poetry.

Abstract

The low level of Indonesian students’ scientific literacy, which remains below the international benchmark, represents a critical challenge in contemporary science education. This study aims to systematically examine the trends and effectiveness of integrating Problem Based Learning (PBL) with Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) in enhancing students’ scientific literacy. The study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach guided by the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) framework. Relevant articles were retrieved from the ScienceDirect and Google Scholar databases within the publication period of 2018–2026. The selection process, comprising identification, screening, and eligibility stages, resulted in a final corpus of 12 articles that met the predefined inclusion criteria.The findings indicate a substantial increase in scholarly publications during the 2024–2025 period, reflecting a growing academic interest in contextual and inquiry-based learning approaches. Furthermore, the analysis reveals strong conceptual linkages between scientific literacy, socio-scientific issues, and emerging educational trends such as Artificial Intelligence (AI). The synthesis of the selected studies demonstrates that the integration of PBL and SSI consistently contributes to moderate to high improvements in students’ scientific literacy. In addition, this instructional approach fosters higher-order thinking skills, particularly in argumentation and problem-solving, by engaging students with authentic, real-world issues.Overall, the integration of PBL and SSI provides a promising pedagogical framework for advancing scientific literacy and preparing students to address complex socio-scientific challenges in the modern era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze community perceptions of graduates of the Package C equivalency education program and to identify the factors influencing these perceptions in Parit Village, North Indralaya District. The background of this study is based on the persistence of social stigma toward non-formal education graduates, who are often considered less equivalent to formal education graduates. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving community members as research subjects. The results show that community perceptions of Package C graduates are varied, both positive and negative. Positive perceptions arise from recognition of graduates’ work abilities, skills, and social contributions within the community. However, negative perceptions still exist, particularly related to the assumption that the quality of non-formal education is lower than that of formal education. Factors influencing community perceptions include the level of knowledge about the Package C program, interaction experiences with graduates, socio-economic conditions, and environmental and cultural influences. In addition, social acceptance of Package C graduates is relatively good in the context of community life, although there are still obstacles in accessing formal employment. This study concludes that increased socialization and improvement in the quality of equivalency education programs are necessary to enhance the image of Package C graduates in society.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and describe in depth the impact of globalization specifically the use of technological devices and the internet on student learning interest at SDN 030439 Lau Meciho, Tanah Pinem District, Dairi Regency. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study method. The research subjects involved 20 upper-grade students selected purposively based on indications of decreased learning concentration. Data collection was conducted from February 2 to 21, 2026, through participatory observation and semi-structured interviews. The results showed that globalization has a significant negative impact on students' learning interest. Easy access to gadgets without adequate parental supervision causes students to experience physical fatigue, loss of focus during lessons, and a decrease in academic participation. Students are more attracted to instant entertainment such as online games and social media compared to the learning process in the classroom. It is concluded that the restoration of learning interest requires a synergy of supervision between the school and parents, as well as the integration of character education based on local wisdom in learning

Abstract

Information technology advancements demand systematic reference management to maintain academic integrity. This study aims to examine the role of reference management applications in enhancing the efficiency and quality of scientific writing. Employing a library research method with content analysis, the study evaluates literature regarding the use of software such as Mendeley, Zotero, and EndNote. The results indicate that these applications facilitate metadata organization, automated citations (APA, MLA, IEEE), and the prevention of accidental plagiarism. Integration with word processors significantly improves bibliography accuracy and researcher productivity. The study concludes that utilizing this technology is a crucial necessity in the modern academic world to ensure consistency and professionalism. Using these tools not only simplifies technical aspects but also strengthens the intellectual depth of scientific work.
