Abstract

The low learning outcomes of students in social studies are influenced by one-way learning, low student participation, and the ineffectiveness of the learning model. This study aims to determine the effect of the web-assisted jigsaw cooperative learning model on student learning outcomes in social studies for class VIII at SMPN 2 Lubuk Sikaping. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The research sample consisted of two classes, namely the experimental class and the control class, each consisting of 25 students. Data collection techniques used tests in the form of pretests and posttests. Data were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and t-tests. The results showed that the average value obtained from the learning outcomes of students in the experimental class who applied the web-assisted jigsaw model was 75, while the control class who applied conventional learning obtained a learning outcome value of 66. Based on the t-test, the t-test was obtained 2.069 and t-table 1.677 at a significance level of α = 0.05. Therefore, if the calculated t value is 2.069 > t table 1.677, it can be interpreted that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of the implementation of the web-assisted jigsaw cooperative model on the social studies learning outcomes of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Lubuk Sikaping.

Abstract

Learning number concepts in lower grades (grades 1-3) serves as the primary foundation in elementary school mathematics education. This study aims to analyze the challenges, strategies, and role of learning media in helping students in grades 1-3 develop a deep understanding of number concepts. A descriptive literature review approach was employed by analyzing relevant research from 2016 to 2026. The findings indicate that lower grade students frequently face difficulties in understanding place value, number symbols, and basic arithmetic operations. Contributing factors include limited learning media, teacher-centered methods, and insufficient opportunities for concrete hands-on experiences. The use of manipulative media such as number bags, number cubes, and natural materials has been shown to significantly improve students' conceptual understanding and learning motivation. Contextual approaches that connect number concepts to students' real-life experiences also positively impact engagement and academic outcomes. This article recommends enhancing teachers' competency in selecting and developing innovative learning media and promoting school-level policies that support the provision of adequate learning resources.

Abstract

This research is driven by the crucial role of vocabulary mastery in English learning and the challenges encountered by junior high school students, including limited vocabulary knowledge, low learning motivation, and unvaried teaching techniques. These issues highlight the necessity for innovative learning media that can enhance students’ engagement and effectiveness in vocabulary acquisition. One alternative solution is the Memrise application, which integrates spaced repetition, multimedia features, and gamification to support vocabulary learning The objective of this study is to examine whether the use of the Memrise application significantly affects eighth-grade students’ English vocabulary learning at SMPN 4 Bukittinggi. This study applied a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental research design. The population comprised all eighth-grade students of SMPN 4 Bukittinggi, from which two classes were selected as samples: an experimental group that received instruction using the Memrise application and a control group that was taught through conventional teaching methods. The data were gathered through vocabulary pre-tests and post-tests and analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics with the help of SPSS.

Abstract

Economic education through school cooperatives plays a strategic role in shaping students' character and entrepreneurial skills. However, their management often faces challenges such as limited human resources and a lack of managerial competence. This study aims to analyze the strategic role of leadership in improving the effectiveness of school cooperative management. The research method used was a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation of school cooperative managers selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data analysis was conducted using an interactive model that included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research results show that leadership is a key factor in the success of school cooperatives, where leaders serve as guides, motivators, and innovators. The leadership style deemed most effective is a combination of democratic, transformational, and participatory leadership. Despite challenges such as poor communication and transparency, solutions can be found through increased leadership capacity, open communication, and the use of information technology to strengthen management accountability. In conclusion, adaptive and visionary leadership is crucial for the sustainability of cooperatives as productive and modern economic learning platforms.

Abstract

This study examines the role of school cooperative managers’ leadership in fostering students’ entrepreneurial development through effective cooperative management. The cooperative serves as a practical learning medium for students to manage businesses, make decisions, and develop creativity, despite facing challenges such as limited competencies, capital, participation, and governance. Leadership plays a strategic role in aligning organizational goals, building an entrepreneurial culture, and creating a collaborative environment through appropriate styles such as democratic, transformational, and servant leadership. This research employs a qualitative approach using library research and finds that managerial leadership is essential in formulating vision, developing work programs, and optimizing cooperatives as sustainable entrepreneurship laboratories.

Abstract

This research arose from the low level of parental involvement in early childhood education (PAUD), despite their crucial role in supporting optimal child development. One effort to increase this involvement is to implement collaborative leadership in PAUD institutions. This study aims to analyze the concepts, forms, and strategies of collaborative leadership to increase parental involvement. The method used was a qualitative approach in the form of library research, collecting, reviewing, and synthesizing various relevant sources such as scientific journals, books, and previous research findings. The results of the study indicate that collaborative leadership plays a crucial role in building open communication, harmonious relationships, and trust between schools and parents. Forms of parental involvement include participation in school activities, active communication with teachers, and home learning support. Effective strategies to increase parental involvement include parenting programs, intensive communication, and direct involvement in school activities. However, their implementation faces challenges such as low parental awareness, limited time, and differences in socio-economic backgrounds. Therefore, a flexible, communicative, and sustainable approach is needed for optimal collaborative leadership. In conclusion, collaborative leadership has been shown to increase parental involvement and positively impact the overall development of early childhood.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a game-based learning media for computational thinking material for seventh-grade junior high school students. This development is motivated by the limited use of interactive learning media, which has resulted in low student motivation and understanding. Therefore, an innovative learning medium is needed to create a more engaging and enjoyable learning environment. This study employed the 4D development model, consisting of the define, design, develop, and disseminate stages. The subjects of this study were seventh-grade students. The instruments used in this research included expert validation questionnaires and practicality questionnaires to evaluate the feasibility and usability of the developed media. The results indicate that the developed game-based learning media is categorized as very valid, with media validation scores of 4.60 and 4.53, and a material validation score of 4.84. In addition, the practicality test result obtained a score of 4.54, which falls into the very practical category. The media is equipped with learning materials, introductory games, and interactive evaluations that facilitate students in understanding the concepts of decomposition and pattern recognition. Therefore, the developed media can be used as an alternative learning medium that is engaging, interactive, and effective in improving students’ understanding of computational thinking material.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of educational leadership in madrasahs in managing digital archives in libraries. The development of information technology has encouraged the transformation of archival management from conventional systems to digital systems that are more efficient, accurate, and accessible. However, the implementation of digital archiving in madrasah environments still faces various challenges, such as limited human resources, infrastructure, and lack of policy support. In this context, educational leadership plays a strategic role in directing, managing, and optimizing digital archival systems in libraries. This study uses a qualitative approach with literature study and descriptive analysis methods. The results show that the leadership of madrasah principals plays an important role in determining the success of digital archive management through policy formulation, improving the competence of library staff, and providing technology-based facilities and infrastructure. Therefore, effective educational leadership can improve the quality of digital archival management and support more modern and accountable library services.

Abstract

School cooperatives are an important medium for supporting economic learning and character development among students through entrepreneurial activities. The success of school cooperatives is strongly influenced by the role of leadership in their management. This article aims to analyze the types of leadership in improving the performance of school cooperatives. The method used is a qualitative descriptive approach with a literature study based on various sources such as books, scientific journals, and relevant previous research. The results of the study indicate that each leadership style has a different impact on the performance of school cooperatives. Transformational leadership is proven to enhance motivation, innovation, and member participation through inspiration and individualized consideration. Democratic leadership provides opportunities for participation in decision-making, thereby increasing members’ sense of responsibility. Meanwhile, transactional leadership contributes to improving discipline through a system of rewards and punishments. Autocratic leadership accelerates decision-making processes but may reduce member participation if not applied proportionally. In contrast, laissez-faire leadership gives members freedom but may lead to a lack of direction in management. Overall, transformational and democratic leadership are considered the most effective in improving school cooperative performance as they create a balance between motivation, participation, and innovation within the organization.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using a spinning wheel learning media assisted by colored buttons on students’ learning outcomes in multiplication operations. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a pretest–posttest nonequivalent control group design. The study was conducted at SD Swasta Pelangi Medan in the academic year 2025/2026. The population consisted of all third-grade students, with class III-A as the experimental group and class III-B as the control group. Data were collected through pretest and posttest instruments that had been validated and tested for reliability. The data analysis technique included prerequisite tests (normality and homogeneity) and hypothesis testing using an independent sample t-test. The results showed that the average posttest score of the experimental class (80.42) was higher than that of the control class (61.88), with an improvement of 32.50 compared to 21.05. The hypothesis test results indicated a significance value of less than 0.05 (Sig. < 0.001), meaning that there was a significant effect of the spinning wheel media assisted by colored buttons on students' learning outcomes. Thus, the use of interactive learning media can improve students’ understanding, engagement, and learning outcomes in multiplication material.
